You're certainly bagging those trig points Paul.I could feel the heat and the graft in this one.You're putting all us 50s blokes to shame mate with the pace ;-) Very enjoyable as ever, a beautiful neck of the woods to be.

Yes this one, particularly the climb up from Capel y Ffin in the heat was a real grueller and the toughest climb I have experienced to date. Not sure about the pace mate but I am really chuffed to have kept my promise to myself to regain a level of fitness that enables me to do these walks and enjoy them. Compared to Nick I am like a tortoise lol. These mountains are addictive much like your beloved Cornwall, the moors, the coast, the river inlets. We have a coastal walk lined up so something a little different on the horizon :)
Another epic walk, you've walked some miles lately, lovely scenery around those parts, looked a right scorcher too, loved that white trig with the Welsh dragon on, and that little church with the red phone box near it, stunning place, all the best mate 👍
Many thanks Gaz. Yes we have covered some miles since the turn of the year and hopefully plenty more to come. It was a real scorcher. I am planning a woodland wild camp to happen soon so something a bit different :)
Good to see you tackling the Black Hill for the first time, Paul. Looks like your route was more challenging than the one Mark and I did in October. As you crossed the Gospel Pass, I felt for you, knowing the likely path UP from Capel-Y-Ffin... I did that early last month, pausing six times and feeling sick on several occassions. I rarely meet a hill as bad as that! ;-) All the best and looking forward to your next.

In that heat it really took some doing and was the toughest I have experienced since visiting the mountains. I want to give it another go in cooler conditions lol. A lovely walk however. Here's hoping that your return to the Ridgeway is are on schedule. Paul :)
Thanks, Paul. Next time I face that route, I aim to be walking it downhill, which may be a challenge in itself! ;-) Did you cross the Olchon Brook before returning to the car park? Yes, I'm on schedule to be walking on the 21st and 22nd, with a bit of help from two friends who'll be exploring the Thames Path. I'll be in Snowdonia the week before, which I've been looking forward to for ages.
Olly Outdoors - OP-J Haha...yes Olly. We did discuss the merits of reversing the route but the consensus was that this would be the best option although we haven't actually walked it in reverse. More often than not, but not on the climb out of Capel Y Ffin I prefer climbing to descending lol. Yes, we crossed the Olchon Brook before reaching Blackhill Farm. It was a midge fest along that section if I remember correctly. Good to hear that your Ridgeway walk is on track and Snowdonia will be a great adventure and experience. Good also to hear that you will have help on the Ridgeway :) Nick and I may head over to the Ridgeway for a day hike or a couple of days with an overnight starting at Avebury and taking in Silbury Hill, West Kennet Long Barrow and other antiquities next month with a Ridgeway walk along it's entirety later this summer. We are planning a coastal walk for next week. I look forward to viewing your Snowdonia and Ridgeway adventures Olly :)
