I’ll be 52 next month, and I still love my 2005 XT225. I’ve looked at all of the new offerings in dual sports, and there’s nothing better out there to replace it with. Keep riding!
XT225: One of the best kept trail bike secrets. I've had one in my stable of bikes for 3 years now. As I continue to age (into my 70th year as I type, I've been dirt riding for 53+ years), I notice it's gradually starting to get more and more of my riding miles compared to the WR250R. It's lower, lighter, more nimble, plenty of torque, AND... you can slow down, and paddle your way over stuff instead of needing to attack it as you have to on a taller/heavier bike. I'm very pleased with my decision to turn to an XT225 help me continue to ride as long as I possibly can.
I love my 225. Uncorked it drilled out the plate in the muffler and took out the snorkel definitely helped. On my second engine in it. Just got hit by a car and it started right up minimal damage lol
