I'm a podcaster so I've gotten familiar with microphones and sound over the last two and a half years. The difference is amazing! You got the nearly the same effect you would have with plastering foam, quilts, and everything you can find on the walls. Considering what it is and the difference it made it was well worth $250.
The sound is defiantly better. The camera angle and quality is a major improvement. The audio still sounds a bit muffled/echoish. Idk about the mic technology but I would suggest better mic placement/settings with your equipment. Regardless it is a better setup for video/audio.
Sounds good Jordan, might want to raise it higher up but I guess you will go through the trial and error process over the next few videos. Marked improvement from echo mike though and you couldn't hear your son's movie on the video.
sounds good, about the same as the Audio technica one i'd say, anyway not 200$+ good. But it looks weird, i'd rather see a normal lavalier mike on your collar. Also how does it perform if you turn your head sideways ? most (collar mounted) lavaliers will barely record you if you do
It sounds really good, the only thing I don't like about it is that it goes through your clothes they should make the same type of mic so it will go in front of you. But it still sounds great!!
Hate to say it, but $250 won't get you too far with lav mics. 250-300 will get you a Tram TR50, which will be better than the rode, but mostly just a different flavor. 350-400 will get you a Sanken COS11D, which will improve your sound immensely over the AT or Rode. Ideal placement for a lav mic is dead center of your chest, as close to the top as possible. So, where a knot of a necktie would be is the spot you want your lav. The included clip is for mounting the mic on your clothes. The killer thing with lav mics are the loss of high end and the nasty midrange. You can tell immediately once you switch over that the highs go away. By the way, I noticed there were a few times the audio clipped once you switched to the lav. I'm guessing it's just a few bumps in the road with new equipment, but if you have a limiter built-in on the Tascam, turn it on. Another thing to note is that while the preamps on the Canon are quite poor, the A/D converters also have an impact. Good move using the Tascam. IMO, the most cost-effective option would be for you to get a supercardioid or shotgun mic and stick it on a stand overhead as a boom. You can grab a Sennheiser me66/k6 used for about $200 (new it's 500), and while it won't completely kill the echo (nothing will, really), the sound quality will be much higher than with any lav, and the pickup pattern would be narrow enough to reject most of the room with proper mic placement.

The sound got a lot better :)
Maybe a little low sound but i think it because it a bit further from your mouth.
No echo at all btw.
Sounds good bud!

6:00 closer to neck it look like you're a star trek ensign lol. Other whys its almost in the right spot it look like a nibble. lol
Still a little bit of echo, which isn't great for $250
Ever so slight echo, hardly noticeable, 250 is pricey pricey tho, I mean it's good quality but 250 worth? Ehh
