Lovely rendition. Your diction on Il bianco fiore is flawless. My friend Fred Benetti whose father was Florentine, still got Cesare Negri wrong. He did make the ch sound but always stressed the second syllable. Chay-sahre Naygree is correct as E is pronounced ee only in English. Your English and your voice are as musical as your playing. In 1975 in Cambridge I put up with a crazy landlady for a whole year because she sounded like you and I learned so much that when I moved to California I passed for a Brit. 20 years later I pass for Bostonian or Midatlantic. I play this tune but now I'll add the extra bit and your phrasing . My family has been Milanese for at least 250years. 😊❤
How lovely to find 'Il Bianco Fiore' again, a piece I first heard over fifty years ago on an LP by John Williams. It captivated me instantly then and I find it no less enchanting now. Thank you so much for your exposition of the work of Cesare Negri, who is indeed usually credited as the composer of the piece, but as you rightly say, with no good reason for the attribution. On the other hand, just as with the lute pieces published by Attaignant, also once thought a composer, we honour Negri for having given this lovely white flower to posterity--and how nimbly lovers must have danced to it!
Thank you for this James! I haven't come across any evidence to say that Negri was a lute player and that he composed dance tunes. But like you say, this is a wonderful snapshot, and I thank Negri for putting it down on paper! I thank you too or your kind words and support for my channel! 💕
I’ve only been playing the lute for little over a year, so sadly I can’t play this yet. 😁 I really enjoyed the historical presentation in the beginning and listening to the piece and the tutorial. Excellent video.
Like fairytale the composition and magical and beautiful playing!!Amazing sound Also thanks for the interesting info!!!! Amazing presentation dear Elizabeth! Warm greetings, Leftis
Thank you so much Liz for this piece by Cesare Negri....a stimulus for the study and deepening of musical literature for the lute....which well celebrates the arrival of March...the month of spring...🙏 🙇🏻
I'm very pleased you did this one, Liz! I purchased your French TAB so that I can play it on the guitar. I especially love your improv and will be giving that a go as well. Please add the other pieces from this collection if you have the time and/or inclination. Cheers!
Thanks for all the kind words Debbie! You've made my day! I will certainly be re-visiting this collection. Let me know how you get on! Sending best wishes! 💕
Thank you a lot for your fantastic explanation! Very usefull indeed. [Congratulations for your Italian pronunciation. A very little tip: Cesare with the C of chair] ❤
Thank you for watching. 💕 No, I'm afraid the ornamentation and improvisation section is not included. The score does however have my personal thoughts on fingering and technical markings for the lute.

I know! 😥 I clocked it as soon as I had finished filming! I was mortified! I'm glad you mentioned it though, thank you! 💕
Great performance. Thanks. Do you have also added the modifications in the download copy?

@@lutewebThanks. Another very nice piece from Cesare Negri is 'So ben mi ha bon tempo'. Maybe this is also something for YCPT?
@@Lute1697 I'll certainly check this out! 💕 thanks for the suggestion. ✨
Don't play the lute, still watched the whole thing.
