exactly what I was looking for, well described thank you. UK car version is a Vauxhall Antara 2011 - 2015
100 percent correct did my daugters captiva n hose was cactus
This is an excellent tutorial. In the past, My Captiva has blown 2 of these hoses within 5yrs, and both times I had them fixed by professionals, costing me approx $800 each time. They both came with a 2yr warranty, and both blew within 2.5yrs. (Holden wouldn't replace them, as they were out of Warranty) I purchased the Intercooler hose (Hose Only) with a 3yr Warranty from the Parts Factory online for under $80. It was delivered to my door within 3 days. (In August 2023 Holden wanted nearly $600 for the whole unit - Install Extra) The Hose from the Parts Factory looks to be far more superior than the ones I brought from Holden direct. The Holden Direct Hose/Part comes with a Patch Up Shrink Wrap Sleeve to supposedly fix the old problem where the Hose keeps bursting under pressure, but the Patch Slips, leaving the Vulnerable area exposed to bursting again under pressure. I'm no Mechanic, but using this Tutorial, with the right Tools (Socket Set, Screwdriver Set & Spanner Set) I installed the Hose within 2hrs in the dark using a torch. Thanks Lucas, and Thanks to "The Parts Factory"
What were the symptoms you had when the hose blew?
When driving, and i put my foot down on the Accelerator hard, the vehicle lacks power, and a blowing (phishing) noise can be heard from the engine bay.
Excellent. Thanks
You are welcome!
I'm looking at replacing mine as preventative maintenance instead of waiting for it to blow, also wanting to connect a boost guage for monitoring would it be fine to drill a small hole in to add a barb fitting from inside the hose and glue it in with high heat silicone?
Be better of doing the boost line into one of the metal parts of this hose
Does that allpow you to lift up the front engine mount as well ? from the the top as the bottom of that intercooler pipe seems to make it hard to do ?
I didn't have to lift up an engine mount. I did everything from the top. The only tricky part I found, was where I had to remove and then redo/refit the 2 x nuts that are found at the bottom/inside of the Fuse box, as they were a little hard to get to. It would have been handy if I would have had an extended magnetised retriever, to get the nuts out of the fuse box, so I could re-insert/fix them back into the socket before reinstalling them back onto the bolt post in the fuse box. (As the nuts are hard to maneuver around, and get them back onto the bolt posts whilst at the bottom of the fuse box - I fluked getting the nuts back on the bolt posts after mucking around for 10 minutes or so).
@@robertjocelyn9733 Sorry i did not mean you where needing to lift the engine mount , but what i was asking was this video showing to remove the inter cooling hose could be the only way to get the engine mount up and out for a turbo diesel captiva ?? ther is no video made for that model Bob
please can you reply to my question iam awaiting to try what you offer as the answer to my problem
when are you going to show how to replace front engine mount on a captiva turbo diesel model
Not soon. We dont dabble in engine mounts due to the liability.
