She said a much bigger city than Morioka, that is also in the north, which pretty much only leaves Sendai (and Niigata), which would be cool because Chris lives there, which would mean probably more collabs.

Fun fact: here in Germany you have the same thing, you cant find one big duvet cover, only the fitted sheets are big for the hole bed but every Person has their own duvet set. So you basically get two Single bedding
I have even found a duvet cover with Hello Kitty on it 😜

My friend can relate to finding a home in Japan. She's a teacher there, has been living out there for years, is fluent in the language (reading, writing and speaking), she even has citizenship there and has no intentions on leaving but she's still considered a foreigner so it's difficult to get a place.
Yeah unfortunately there isn’t any laws in Japan that stop them from saying no to foreigners. 😭
Actually I’m pretty sure there are, but they’re never enforced.

Fellow Canadian here. Visiting Japan is on my midlife bucket list, but has been set back over a year. Researching Japan is what led me to you and Chris Broad and others. But I'll still continue to watch you even if you leave Japan!

It's really sad that even though you are fluent in the language, lived there for years and have connections you still have to worry about just finding a home if you ever need or want to move. It's insane.
Xenophobia is definitely a thing in Japan and nobody can tell me that it should be legal for landlords to deny you just for the fact alone that you are a foreigner. That's not a thing in most if not all other developed countries and absolutely is discrimination.
@@DieAlteistwiederda Have you ever heard of Rachel and Jun? She has been with him for I believe a decade+ and is married! But even she still has some issues when it came to finding a home according to some of her videos.
They had to ask permission if she could move in with her Japanese husband because she was a foreigner.
Like, it's so insane. Things are slowly changing though, in Tokyo at least. There seems to be more places for foreigners to live.
Dude I'm half Japanese, have a completely Japanese name, speak read and write the language fluently and even I have had repeated problems being accepted for an apartment. One of the many reasons I'm thinking of leaving Japan. There's no future for a country that overall doesn't respect basic human rights one of which is to not be discriminated against due to ethnicity.
@@paxvenus6476 That's really messed up. I'm sorry you have to put up with that. There really needs to be some kind of protest to make new laws about this. There is no excuse for it. I heard it has something to do with WW2, but it's time to move on from that way of thinking.

Omg the window corner in the apartment. I feel like it would be the worst and best idea to have a bed in that corner. Sleeping there while the soft rain rolls down the windows, ambient sounds galore.
The cat stuff is definitely adorable, when I'm able to get back to work I will definitely purchase some ☺ I love animals especially kitty's any cause that helps them is something I would be happy to help with. Also good luck that apartment looked amazing.

I went from a queen sized bed to a twin but my cats didn’t like that there wasn’t enough room for too. It only lasted a month before I had to get a queen bed again ahaha. They have their half and I have mine.
This is fascinating! Everything is so clean and lovely!
When it comes to support a charity or cause, I just tend toward maybe adoptions and maybe adopt a pet because there are a lot of strays. My main social issues are clean drinking water, food scarcity, clean abundant energy, and natural disasters. And I want to support solutions for things like that.

I may be moving to 九州 from the UK. It was great to look around a typical apartment and that housewares shop. Great video. Cute cat!!
This is stupid, but I spent 3 months looking for the "slim" spice racks and nobody had them and one day I angrily purchased a rack for glue from a hardware store. Not only does it fit 3 times more spices in a better way, but also it was 70% cheaper. Sadly it does look like a rack for industrial-strength glue (which is what it is) but I live alone and have no one. soooooo.....

Here in Scandinavia, we use two singles so each person has their own blanket. It is really amazing.

I believe scandinavian countries are better than asian countries in terms of human comfort and care, just an opinion tho.
I'm from the UK, I have a double and my partner has a single duvet. It works out really well, I like to be a cosy burrito and he hates too much duvet. Saved a lot of arguments for sure!
As much it's little bit of stress packing & moving, it is always enough adventure to jump in.
Althouth we love your present place and how you decore it, new one with your style will be amazing.

I have 3 indoor cats, and care for 4 feral cats 3 of them have lived sheltered in my yard for 7 years. I also, help local cat rescues. Love that you are helping rescues in your area of the world.

Regarding the apartment process, that was one of the more disappointing aspects of moving here. Being turned down again and again simply because you are not Japanese feels and is wrong. I get that immigrants and non-natives can be flighty and carry the reputation of being bad tenants but most of us are just good people trying to earn a living and enjoy Japan. I think it is even harder for those of us who are Asian transplants since the stigma can often be more critical.
Why exactly do they discriminate? Flighty as in you will suddenly leave with outstanding back rent or something? I assume Japan is like most major cities where demands are much more than supplies? They would have no problem finding new tenants. Or they are just discriminatory like most countries, especially Japan?
I feel like this is always the argument against foreigners in Japan but how common actually is that? And by "afraid they won't pay" do they really mean afraid a foreigner will push back on the countless security deposits, thank you fees, etc.?

Oh man, I miss Nitori! That cooling fabric is great; I brought one of the blankets back with me when I moved to California, and I'm so grateful. I guess they do ship to the US, but I haven't messed around with trying to order more.
They do ship to the U.S. I actually just ordered some of their cooling products & they should be here in a few days. Though they're meant for humid climates like Japan, I'm hoping they can help in this dry desert.

Have you ever mentioned your timeline of when you’d like to leave Japan some day? It’s crazy to think of you not in Japan, I’d always stick around for the adventure but I’m curious how close or far away that kind of big change would be! ^^
I was planning to be gone already, but with the pandemic slowing down the process of getting Maro back etc. it’s pushed back everything a bit. Prob 1-2 more years!

an AirBNB I stayed in had a nitori folding couch/futon that was the _most comfortable_ thing I'd slept in ever. tragically I couldn't get one shipped to nyc :/ I still think about it on occasion...
The US has something similar. I think it's cubes and you switch them around to make it what you want. Forgot the name though.
Not to take away from the video, which was lovely especially the neko neko! But you always look so stylish and put together, and your makeup is chef's kiss. I know you did a skin care routine vid, but I wouldn't mind seeing your wardrobe or how you do your makeup!

I don't think she is? I think she's just looking for a larger space that's not in Morioka, but still in the north of Japan. That's the impression I got, anyway.
I think she's said before that one day she'll move back to Canada, but she's not ready to leave Japan any time soon
