The whole symphony seemed like one long tribute to Mozart to be honest. You can hear mozarts jupiter in the first movement. His use of 3 note chromatic phrases for woodwinds. He really put some effort into the melodies throughout, perhaps hopeful mozart was somehow listening from beyond. He knew it would be his last symphony and I'm sure deep down he knew mozart was listening and proud that he could help take music to new heights. Even the "operatic" style ending in the finale . Pure mozart tribute and goodbye to an era.
Mozart would be proud of his woodwind maturity for sure. He wouldve said finally in your old age! Oh yea and Beethoven did learn something from Haydn.
