  • On an ill fated trip, Tin-Yetti manages to get very wet not only when launching, but also returning to shore in his Hobie Revolution kayak.

Thanks for putting this up. It not only makes us feel better for our own not so perfect activities but allows for us not to learn the hard way. One should always put a leash on the paddle drive. That’s an 800-1000 dollar lesson we don’t have to learn the hard way. Good fishing to you for next time.

Thanks for the feedback. I have considered leashing the drive. In this kind of incident it would have been helpful, but it also wasn't too hard to find in those conditions.
In worse conditions where I might actually lose it (hopefully I am never trying to land in worse) I would be concerned about potentially getting caught/wrapped by a leash if I got properly rolled.

@@tin-yetti Reasonable point, everything’s a balance and a trade off. I try to keep the leash short. Enjoy your videos

Appreciate the honesty as ocean kayak fishing goes we all have had similar experiences.
I can understand that some people won't do beach launches due to previous past experiences, fair enough. But use your own discretion if in doubt don't go out but those who do, might have more experience. One piece of advice to those New to this sport, go out with out any fishing gear in small swell conditions. To see how you and your yak handle the conditions and then decide what days to go out.

      Solid advice. 👍
All of my mishaps have been in small conditions where I just didn't give it quite the care I should have. It doesn't take much to wreck a lot of gear.

Lol. It takes a little practice and I don't have much. I have only recently started trying to launch from those less protected beaches. Will be worth it when I get my Kingie. 😁

Probably why i dont do beach launches. My one and only at Hillarys ended up with me hyper extending my left thumb on landing in very small surf. And a total of around 5 weeks off work

My wife just laughed and said I think you're getting too old for that!
It doesn't take much to get you in trouble, that is for sure

Don’t want to laugh at your misfortune but 😅😂😂.
I’m sure everyone who has attempted to beach launch has been there .
Why it pays to minimise the gear you carry and only take mid range outfits .
    Good stuff
I know that helpless feeling when you are side on a big shore dump is coming your way

If I didn't want to be laughed at, I wouldn't put it up.
I considered stowing the rods on that one but thought, nah, she'll be right.

And the camera is ALWAYS running when I land, just in case.
