Air Arms Pro Sport Farm Yard Pest Control

- Back on the corvids, pigeons and rats in this one using my new Air Arms pro sport 177 12flb using 8.44 Barracuda Match pellets, in the UK Crows and Magpies can cause devastating damage to the ground nesting birds we have on our moors for example Curlews, lapwings meadow pipits and many many more, they also predate on the song bird population ,also around lambing time the crows will peck out the eyes of the new born lambs while they are vulnerable just after birth and even at times while the Ewe is giving birth crows will peck out the eyes and tongues of a lamb, so as a pest controller our laws let us control them all year round, here i am using a 223 rifle as the crows and magpies can wise up avoiding traps and keeping out of range of air rifles and shotguns at times. Any disbelievers please feel free to google and see the damage for your self. cheers.
Favorite channel on YT by a mile. I grew up on a farm here in America and did some personal pest control when we needed it. Also did lots of hunting. Live in the city now for the past 25 yrs but these videos take me back. But really it’s your respect for the wild life that sets you apart from many on here. Thank you.
Thank you my friend and very much appreciated
*Simon6ppc* Bravo well done, thank-you sir for taking the time to bring us along. GOD Bless.
Cheers pal 👍
Best looking air rifle on the market and in performance what the Airsporter of my youth should have been. Great video.👍
Ye your probably right there Graham.
Your new acquirement is very sharp looking. The stock is brilliant. Stay Safe.
Thanks, will do!
That's a very fine rifle indeed.
Nice work Simon.
Thank you.
Always impressed with your marksmanship
Thank you David,
Prescribed viewing Sunday night. The chap behind the butt makes the difference, nice windage allowance.👍👍All deals were done by10am Sunday morning at my old club, you had to be quick. lol.
Lol cheers pal.
Yay! Sunday night viewing, nice one Simon
Lol yep for sure 🫡👌
Hi mate, just the great standard of vid we've all come to appreciate and thoroughly enjoy. Had the day off today so took my Ultimate Sporter down the woods, it was flippin cooking though so not much around.....now despite the fact I fall into the category of technically challenged when it comes to IT stuff I sat in the hide and managed to get TH-cam working on the phone and watched your vid whilst out shooting.....how cool is that huh! Thank you again for the great vid and it's inspired me to take my Air Arms TX200 out on the weekend. Best wishes.
Ye cheers Jeff i have just got in from using my FX King and hell is it humid up here.
Love all your air rifle videos Simon. I had a Weihrauch HW77K as a teen back in ‘85 and used to knock off the rooks for the local farmer just before lambing. I used to get a fiver for a bakers dozen! Great times. Take care mate.
Lol ye nice one Dan.
Great video Simon👌. I just bought a Diana 460 magnum in .22 we are not restricted yet in Australia worked out it around 21fp very accurate drills holes straight though rabbits at 50m springers have come a long way from when i was a kid, i am so amazed. I got it out of interest from watching you, Cheers
Brilliant nice one Colin.
I’ve got an Air Arms TX200 in 0.22 FAC not quite finished the tin of 200 pellets it came with and it chronographed at 18ft lbs and was easily capable of taking rabbits at 64 yds from my house window down the garden, together with pigeons from the trees and pheasants at similar ranges. I also have a Diana Air King 54 in .177 FAC which develops 22ft lbs, ostensibly recoilless, serviced and properly set up by Simon Air Doctor, just before we downsized 18 months ago and moved into town hence both for sale at PRS Tomintoul if any interest. As Simon says, I was blown away by their respective accuracy as their purchase was a trip down memory lane and to aid in training a labradoodle which we sadly also had to part with, subsequently losing like Simon, my Labrador daily shooting companion of some twelve years and at 80+ not certain if wise to get another. Your shooting ability Simon is excellent and your videos are a pleasure to watch, particularly your long range coward magpie control
Not a common choice for fac the tx200 nice one mate there usually hw80s or webley pariots lol I imagine the tx is a joy to shoot over an fac hw 80 always been tricky to tune right and keep it shooting well under 12ft ibs I had one never got on with it traded it with my mate for something else, always wanted an air king, enjoy your shooting mate am so jealous you can shoot rabbits from your window ledge 👍
Thank you Derek and very much appreciated pal and you keep your self safe 👍👌🫡
Hi Simon I was unsubscribed from your channel for some strange reason? Anyway I really enjoy your great content on controlling pest species! I don’t post my footage due to the world we live in and the hate that comes with it! But I really enjoy watching yours. Well done fella.
Thank you Ratty
I was as well.
Got to love a springer Simon don’t care what anyone says takes a different approach and technic to shoot one top shooting bud.All the very best 👍🏻🏴👍🏻🏴👍🏻🏴
Thanks James your 100% right pal
My 'dream' air rifle.
Thank you for this video Simon, excellent shots.
Many thanks!
Just bought a pro sport for £600 from Cheshire gun rooms Bolton,.22 second hand.great condition.shoots great 😃
Brilliant Wayne cracking air rifle for sure.
Hi Simon,
I've watched your footage a good few times now. I love seeing your Pro Sport. it's such a super looking air rifle.
I've been out tonight, doing some pellet testing myself. I've been shooting my TX200 and 97K. I love both air rifles and rather than get into the debate of which one is the best, I just enjoy each for what they are.
I love my 97K, because it's super accurate and I love the noises and resistances noises of the cocking lever, as it closes. I also made my own laminated stock for mine, to replace the moulded black stock, as it was the Silverline edition. My stock turned out really well and I was pleased with it.
My TX is amazing , too. The action blueing, the fishscale chequering, the trigger, is out of this world, and I'd guess why it's so expensive, though I adore it. I don't dislike it's cocking sequence. It's something I just get used to, and part and parcel of such a heavyweight, able, super piece of kit.
I have been using the JSB Exact 8.44 grain pellet, though in breezy days I've struggled with its accuracy out at thirty to forty yards.so I decided to give the JSB Exact Heavies pellets a go, and see how that panned out? I use them in my pcp's, though not my springers.
I was really impressed with the Heavies and I have a lot more faith in them beyond thirty yards. I got good groupings, which was very satifying.
Also, another issue. The JSB Heavy pellets are beefier and stronger made, than the 8.44 Exact pellets. Many of the 8.44 were damaged while still in the tin.
My JSB Heavy pellets were so much better. They had hardly any damaged skirts and generally, perfect. That of course leads to much improved accuracy and in the field, yhe difference between a hit and miss.
Without question, Simon, your Pro Sport is gorgeous. However, I chose the TX mainly because of the cocking lever on the Pro Sport.
The cocking lever on the TX, is short and up front.
The Pro Sport cocking lever, runs the length of the fore end and quite a long lever. I think you struggled a bit, with catching the cocking lever on the straw bales, Simon. I think you'd have similar issues in a hide, too. Nonetheless, a super air rifle.
So I prefer the heavier pellets, Simon, for my 12ftlb spring air rifles. Do you have any thoughts, Simon?
Thank you and take care, Ian.
I agree with you to be fair Ian, i think my springers in side no wind have the edge with the 8.44s but out side the 10.34s tend to do better my friend. Also the cocking lever is the down side to the Pro Sport like you say but you can get around it i suppose.
Looks a great rifle and every bird dropped on the spot. Very impressive. Thanks for another great video Simon👍
Cheers Kev.
Aww brilliant Simon, awesome gun and hell of a shot!!..Well done 😊😊
Thanks Ste.
GREAT VIDEO SIMON .... !!!!! NICE RIFLE... THANK YOU FOR THESE VIDEOS.... !!!!!!! ALWAYS LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT VIDEO... !!!! AWESOME GROUPS.. !!
Thank you Gary.
I`ve had my ProSport for ten years now, and just love it.
Ye cracking rifle David to be fair mine has shocked me how well it shoots on paper
Tnx for another crackin Video Simon.

Terry.
Thanks Terry
Fine bit of kit, accurate as always. Another great video Simon 👏👏👍👍
Thanks Malc
Nice going Simon. Target rich environment alright. I have a Walther LGU .22, 12ft lb and it can shoot better than I can now at 73 years young. It likes the Exact jumbo 15.89gr pellet best. Cheers from doununda. 😉🍻
Nice one pal i want the Walther LGV next if i be fair
Brilliant video again Simon as always mate. Can't fail to love to see a springer in action, my friend. Keep them coming.
Thanks Bunny 👍
5, 2, & 1. Not bad for the day. Your getting older Simon and getting stiff is just the beginning.
lol
Good session there again Simon nice set up
Thanks 👍
Excelente video y excelente control de plagas y a seguir disfrutando de ese espectacular rifle.saludos 👌👌👍👍👏👏🧉🇦🇷
Thank you.
Hi Simon I fancied the hw 77 but really like the sound of a pro sport No tuning needed straight out the box Just missed a s/hand in walnut but a beech models just come up £300 cheaper Watch this space 👍👍👍
Ye David a clean second hand one would deff be cheaper for sure
Thanks for the upload. I was hunting last week (A mouse) ,I put the videos on my YT channel. Unfortunately it wasn’t the old way that I’m used to. 😂😬
Lol nice one
The Airgun videos are my favorite 👍🏻
Cheers Robert i try to vary all what i do to be fair.
Awesome video Simon! And excellent shooting definitely a great rifle and extremely accurate. A bit pricey but for a quality air rifle and accurate shooting definitely worth the price I may have to look into replacing my current break barrel because mine is extremely hard to cock and wreaks scopes. Cheers brother
Thanks Donald.
Excellent as always mate 👍, nice outing with the new gun
Thank you,
Great shooting as always Simon. First outing with yr new air rifle a total success. Stay safe
Ye thanks Ian.
Nice see you again Simon!
Beautiful video 👍
Many thanks!
Nice bit of kit that and productive, well done thanks for sharing
Thanks Paul.
That gun shoots, no question. AA doesn't make the most powerful nor the most adjustable airguns on the market, but they make exceptionally nice ones. Their fit and finish and the quality throughout is as good as it gets IMO.
Ye Ridin that is one of the finest springers i have ever shot in my life pal.
Would be interested in a vid of how you zero in your scopes on your various rifles. You seem to have it down to a fine art. Great vid.
I might do one day Jacob
Great work Simon 👍👍👍
Thank you Alan.
Nice video Simon. Thanks for the entertainment!
Cheers mate
Another cracking video. Air Arms ooze quality i just wish they made a PCP with a bottle, nobody would have an FX then!
Lol may be Ian.
Nice bit of kit that, thanks Simon.
No problem 👍
Prosport is by far the nicest looking air rifle ever made springer wise i own a 177 prosport, 22 hw97, 177 hw95, 22 webley exocet, each one off them shoots fantastic all do 5 shot groups under a 5p coin at every range out to 50 metres in perfect conditions i.e resting shots my hw97 is my baby though but it has been apart and fettled with about 8 times, i need to strip the Prosport give it the same treatment never had it apart i dont think so can only improve on it, loving your channel and am probably pretty local to you (altrincham me)if you use cheshire gun rooms, enjoy your shooting mate👍
Thanks pal and much appreciated.
Always thought the pro sport was the best looking air rifle made top video that mate 👌 👍
Ye thanks Richard
Nice one Simon 👍🏴😉
Thanks Phil

Thank you.
Very nice video Simon and what an air rifle that is. You couldn't have christened any better really. I'm sure there will be plenty more to come with that.
Ye thanks Jim i do enjoy using it to be fair but i have to get back on the foxes now phone never stops ringing.lol
@simon6ppc246 absolutely, when the farmer calls you got to keep them happy otherwise they will get someone else in to do the job
Nice rifle Simon shoots well too and a very enjoyable video cheers bud
Thank you David.
Thanks as always simon great video and nice rifle to regards paul
Thanks Paul.
Nice with som springer action buddy 😁 Great rifle with PCP accuracy all day long. Even more accurate than a lot of PCP's.....Think i would like the underlever from the HW77/97 more, especially in a 12+ fpe version but its beautiful integrated in the stock. Cheers!
Ye 100% pal the loading part of it is not hard work but not as easy as the 77
I own the Air Arms TX200 in .22cal.
Nice one 👌
Off bags tells you how good a rifle is
100%
Great Responsible video as always simon, I think I need to buy a pro sport now 😀
Cheers Ste.
Cracking shooting with a new gun especially the head shot pigeon. You must sleep with a rifle to shoot like that.keep safe mate.
Thanks Robin lol she would lob it out the bed room 😂
@@simon6ppc246I'm with her lol. Is she a crack shot as well? 🌞
Ha ha .
Lol she's a nurse 😂
Thinning out the magpies, noticed more crows as well as magpies around here this year offering some good shots around the farm as I go about my day.
Had a couple of days down at the Game fair this weekend, up graded my night vision from the pard007 to the Zulus or now DNT 3x12 for ratting sessions.
Someone requested a zero tutorial, I’d second that. Probably 2 or 3 videos with the FX king at various powers, standard sub 12 and then the centre fire rifles.
👍
Ye might do one day Phil will see.
Great vid as always and now I want to go back to a decent springer. Regards from N.Z
Ye to be fair i don't mind using them all the time now either
Nice rifle I must get one for my collection
Ye cheers Shaun.
Only gone and bought one
There seems to be more magpies around this year - anyone else noticed that ?
Great videos as always Simon
That's thanks to Packham, and his Wild Justice pals. Plus, the RSPB said Magpies do not have an appreciable impact on songbirds. Taking Maggies off the General Licences has resulted in them thriving. Things can only get worse, when the population can't be controlled. In our area the Maggie population has at least trebled.
Thanks Ian
@@daveatkinson9562 You are very welcome Dave. Iam glad other people have noticed the rise in numbers of these evil pests. Don't like to think how many there will be in another 5 yes
without any control.
Ye i can still shoot them as yet but will see in the future Dave. This one farm for some reason there are loads and not sure why.
brilliant pest control always
Thanks again Dave
tidy work mate
Cheers
Jim
Thanks Jim.
Brilliant as always mate

Thanks again Darren and very much appreciated as always my friend.
...simply EXCELLENT!!!😀
Thank you! Cheers!
Hi Simon,
Thank you for another great watch. Your new Pro Sport looks amazing, and you've proven it shoors amazing. Can I ask your advice again, please?
I like and use mainly JSB Exact Heavies in my pcp's and JSB Exact 8.4 grain .177 calibre in my springers, all 12ftlb. I use the 8.4 grain in my springers as, as the piston moves up the compression cylinder, this is a gradual increase of air, as apposed to the hammer going down in a pcp and all the air being releasing at once.
However, at forty yards, I'd like better groups with my springer with 8.4 grain pellets.
I'm going to try JSB Heavies in my springer, as I don't think these pellets should be too heavy, as the same air rifle set up will be used to propel. 22 pellets.
I'm thinking the extra weight of the JSB Heavies in .177 calibre will suit at the range of between 30-40 yards and help keep the pellet line.
I love my springers, though when you begin with one, you are fighting pellet choice and artillary hold, amongst other things. I just wondered if you had any advice, or if you have a mindset?
I thought your shooting and accuracy, as usual, was fantastic and a great example of humane air rifle shooting. Well done!
Thank you, Ian.
Ps.
Do you like Heavier pellets with 12ftlb?
Ye Ian the 10.34 JSBs are deff worth a try if you are out side, i have done loads of testing with both and on very windy days the 10.34s come out better but being truth full all my springers tend to just have the edge with the 8.44s also for some reason on calmer days or in doors
@@simon6ppc246
Thank you, Simon.
Another nice video simon
Cheers Brian.
Love my mk3TX for the same reasons, bit of a heft but damned reliable 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
Ye the Pro Sport is the same Alan.
Thought that rat had nicked off with your magpie at first when it had disappeared from the hopper 😅 but looks like you took it for a decoy!
Lol ye Baz i just didn't film it lol.
Nice one…as always
Thanks again!
wow not a cheap gun, $900 US, good show.
Ye Gerald not cheap at all to be fair but they are nice.
Av just got the prosport 177 of me dad lovley gun and a own a 177 tx 200 hc hw90k and webley tracker 177
Nice one.
Excellent.
Cheers pal.
Talk about target rich!
Ye i go once a month there and its always ok.
The prosport sounds Impressive. The cocking lever looks very angular. Is it comfortable enough to use?
To be fair Darren it is a tad awkward to use if i be honest but the straw bales didn't help matters to be fair.
You do a excellent job explaining everything . And you put the work in to be spot on . So my question with this riffle is . How far out can you be lethal with it . Depending on the weather of course ?
This one Robert at 12ftlb i would say 40 to 50 yards depending on the weather
@@simon6ppc246 Thank You
Why does it look like you shoot with either eye? Great videos Sir!
Because of the Tactacam on the scope lol
Nice
Thanks
I love the Pro Sport. I got mine a few months back. I've looked at the Tactacam to mount on a scope several times, but wasn't sure if it would hold up on a springer. Have you had any issues? I ended up getting the one for a spotting scope for my airgun video's but really this is what I want rather than a sperate target cam.
The Tactacam has worked spot on on that rifle pal as i use it on my centerfire rifles to.
@@simon6ppc246 I've ordered the Solo Extreme to see how it does on my springers. Looked like it was doing great on yours.
Great gun
Ye seems to be Scott.
Are you using the side mounted camera to look through, so you don’t have to crank your head over to see through your left eye? That must be wonderful for you.
Also people talk often about recoil. I haven’t shot one since I was a kid, but don’t remember it being anything like my 8mm Mauser 🙂. So I’m assuming it’s a different kind of recoil than a centre fire. I mean the bullet is basically out of the barrel before you even feel it, so with a springer I guess the release of the spring happens before the pellet gets sent or something like that?
Ye i have a camera on the side Jim and the recoil is as you mentioned.
well done
Thanks Steve.
Les armes mono coups à piston, ont encore de beaux jours devant elles !
Sure have pal
Howdy Simon. I haven't made any comments in a while, I have been watching, just absorbing what you are doing. I always find it fantastic the accuracy that you have when shooting. Only in my dreams!!! I do have a question though... you made mention of dealing with the recoil of the springer vs. the air rifle. I am assuming that the springer has more recoil to it. Is that correct? What about putting a recoil pad ( butt pad ) on the end of the stock to help absorb the recoil? You always inspire me to want to go out and shoot, just for the fun of it, and I do like shooting. At 72 it seems my mind and body are having different discussions with me and the body is winning. Stay safe my friend!
Ye what it is Robert is they don't really recoil a lot just you have to know how to old the rifle in the exact same way so the rifle recoils the same and is keeps the rifle accurate because if say you hold it firm and zero it you have to hold it the same firm way there for after but if you say rest it on some thing it won't be the same zero because its been zeroed from say a firm hold if that makes any sense
id love to try one of those but i shoot indoor bell target and need open sights. 30 years with a hw77 i feel like a change now
Brilliant Andy i try open sights at times its good fun.
Simon you ever used slugs for this work and how do you find them compared to pellets? Thnx.
I do ye in my FX King and they shoot brilliant pal at 56 ftlb
Enjoyable video with a beautiful rifle. This rifle sounds very quiet in the video. What do you think is the effective maximum range of this rifle? I’m guessing around 45-50 yards. Well done!
Ye Charles your about right there pal.
Looking good Simon, I’ll get some of those pellets and try them through mine, did you find Hades were loose when putting them in or haven’t you tried them? But don’t they shoot smooth eh! I’ve just bought another HW95 due to me stupidly selling my old one which I regretted shortly afterwards. Have you put a tad of boiled linseed oil on the stock as it’s looks a tad darker than mine was when I collected it.
Thanks Piper i have put some English Walnut oil on it but the camera kind of picks it up different than what it really looks like lol and ye it seems to love the 8.44s but if i be honest it seems to shoot all what i put through it pretty ok.
Thanks for another great video Simon. I’ve also just bought a new Pro-Sport. A rifle I’ve always wanted but being left handed it wasn’t an option until a while ago AA started to make a left hand version. I browsed their website the other week to find it is discontinued to my horror!
So I rang round several dealers and managed to find possibly the last one. Would have preferred a.177 but this is.22. Not too bothered as I have a TX in .177.
Like yours it’s so nice!! So accurate. I can hit a 1” spinning target with every shot at 45 yards no sweat. Found it likes Falcon 13.43 pellets best. Fortunately they produce the most energy and shoot flattest. It just fantastic. The TX is just as good mind but the looks of the Pro-Sport are superb.
There certainly is an art to shooting a springer accurately but when you find it these rifles are so good. Very timely video for me thanks very much.
Thanks Tom and ye you will love that Pro Sort for sure,
👍👍🇮🇪
Thank you.
Hi Simon, Dave here in USA. Gosh, that Air Arms is really quiet when fired. I do not see a silencer on it. Why so quiet? Is it a gas piston or a springer? Kind Regards, Dave in USA
Hey Dave👍So I've wanted one of these beautiful rifles for years and years! The deal is this, the actual barrel is only just under 10 inches long, the rest is a shrouding put over it and nearly the final 10 inches of the barrel acts as a suppressor. Brilliant rifles in every way....... Except the price 😆. $1100 here in America for the Walnut version without a scope.
It's a springer mate. I thought I had my heart set on a blue/gray 77K, but seeing this I'm doubting myself! Argh!, What a delicious conundrum 😊
HI Simon, I see the Pro Sport here in the US is about $900.00 USD. A little out of my range. Kind Regards, Dave in USA
Ye these springers are not cheap to be fair but i have to say when you use them you honestly do feel the quality
@@simon6ppc246 I can appreciate quality. I've had a Feinwerkbau Deluxe in .177 for about 40+ years. Had it fully serviced a few years ago at an authorized service center. They replace mainspring, piston and all seals. Works like new! Good for another 40 years. Thanks for the kind, prompt response, Simon. Cheers! Dave in USA
General air rifle question.
I'm looking for an air rifle that
A. Won't shoot holes in shed tin.
B. Can have picatiny rail for scope.
C. Is relatively cheap
Purpose.
Shed pigeons and rats with thermal scope.
I was led to believe I'd need an adjustable power air rifle..which I guess is expensive..
Any ideas?
Ye deff a 12 ftlb my friend and the HW 100 would be a good choice
@@simon6ppc246 I'm busy researching... it's odd to look into something I know nothing about in world of firearms!
