My grandma used to always say, "you will not be able to make EVERYONE happy no matter what you do or say. So the best thing to do is to make at least one person happy, yourself! " Gotta love grandma! I miss her! I personally think you're doing just fine!
It's like people forget there's multiple creators on TH-cam reviewing the same products. Everyone has a different opinion imagine how boring the world would be if everyone had the same opinion about everything! 😫
I’m a naturally enthusiastic person and years ago, it started making me feel bad about myself. Then Gretchen Rubin said something that changed my whole outlook about myself - “Enthusiasm is a form of social courage - it’s safer to criticize and scoff than to praise and embrace - and I’ve decided that I’d rather be “enthusiastic” than “confident.”” Now when I see someone like you being so excited and happy, I see the bravery and beauty in that person. When I’m enthusiastic, I know I’m strong for allowing myself to be authentic. ❤
So, with the exception of a couple favorites, I’ve stopped following large creators. I respect and appreciate the opinions of smaller creators like yourself because y’all seem like you really enjoy (and sometimes don’t) what you’re doing. It really does, to me anyway, make all the difference. Anyway, you’re absolutely right- people will buy the product or not. Doesn’t matter how big of a creator you are or whatever… my friends and I have a saying, “‘People out here be “peopling’”, I.e., it is what it is and everyone is going to have an opinion, so you just do you 🤷🏼♀️ I appreciate you. Thank you for what you do.
Couldn't agree more! (Except for the making content for decades part... I will be kicked back, well and truly retired then but I will definitely still watch your videos! 🤣)
Thank you for being you. I love your reviews and live swatching eyeshadows, where you pay attention to every shade :) Hope you get to keep the good vibe going and we will be here together on our 70's ;)
Girl, I watch you and trust your opinion bc I’ve built that trust over years of watching you. I feel that way about all the influencers that I actually follow and give my time and support to. If I didn’t honor your opinion (even if it’s different than mine) I wouldn’t watch your content. Just keep doing what you do 😊
Embracing the real talk here! Makeup reviews are like a battleground of opinions, but your honesty shines through. 💪🎨 It's impossible to please everyone, but staying true to your experience is what matters most. Keep slaying those reviews with your authentic perspective! 🌟👑
This is why I think it's good that people speak up when they see someone clearly doing something wrong with their influence over their audience, it reflects badly not only on them but on other BGs as well. Imagine you're in your workplace as a salesperson and you realize one of your co-workers is scamming people, eventually people are gonna stop showing up to your store unless that person is held accountable or worse, fired.
I feel like I'm that person, who would say a different opinion on products in comments. I'm sorry, if it made any youtuber feel bad about it. I like your videos and I'd never think, that you would intentionally lie about any product. You are so kind, and it shines through in every video!
i really hope you keep the strength to not let it get to you. i always say, if ppl wanna find sth to complain about, they will find sth. same with if they have made up their mind about you, there is nothing you can do to "make them see the real me". its about them, not you.
Appreciate the honesty here. I can only imagine how frustrating it must be to get these weird comments. One of the reasons why I really don't want to be in the limelight with anything. Genuinely happy to be more in the background and enjoy the content others are putting out there. Honestly, people comment in such weird and insensitive ways, it leaves me baffled almost in anyone's comment section. It's not a creator problem, it really is just a people problem. The bigger someone is on here, the worse it is. Guess it showcases the pros and cons of having an open forum in response to your content that's visible around the globe; you also get some bad eggs in the comments. And I imagine it's easier to shake them off on some days, and harder on other days. Gotta be frustrating to feel like you can't win. But the good thing about it is: You might as well continue doing it your way precisely *because* you can't win. So no need to change anything. Just stay true to yourself and hope that the bad weeds will pull themselves out
Unfortunately, people drop their dump on things that have nothing to do with the problem they have. Look, I'm not a TH-camr, but I work with people, and it's the same. The art here is to completely disregard the idiots with no control of their emotions, put a smile on your face and keep going. My grandma used to say that not even Jesus pleased everybody, and it's true. In fact, the more successful you get or are, the more dump people will throw on you. So, be happy and all we can do is our best.
I feel like a creator earns my continued trust over time. If I'm new to their channel, I watch with an open mind unless they give me a reason not to trust them. My biggest thing is when people do sponsored videos about products they would otherwise not be sharing. Maybe it's still a decent product, but if you never see them use it again that says something in my opinion.
Some ppl and their comments 🙄 I take reviews with grain of salt and try things.. like you said everyone’s skin is different I’ve also tried things friends love and I do not.. Ummm anywho but that mascara 👀
I have my holy grail foundation, in colder humid place it’s the most perfect thing BUT in dry hot climate it’s just slippery mess. That’s why in reviews I appreciate when people state climate and their skin type. I think some people are biased in their reviews, I just don’t watch them. There is this compilation of videos on YT of girl reviewing Kylie cosmetics before and after she was dropped from PR and lol how the tune changed in her case is laughable. Thanks for sharing ❤ PS: I don’t mind people recieving PR and talking about their promo codes, because YT is for some what pays their rent. In this economy? Girl get your $$. I get content to watch. Everybody is happy. Simple as that.
I agree with what you were saying about reviews. However. When an Influencer gives a fantastic review, but then a month later rates it their worst product of the month, because the product is patchy, doesn’t blend well and has no pigmentation, I get pretty angry. By the way you look beautiful lately it looks like you got a touch of sun.
I think I would have a great channel at 74 years old! 😂😂😂😂 ESPECIALLY if I had started young and took followers with me through the aging process and the adjustments that have to be made in makeup application! You're the perfect age for this idea. You have years before you start to see aging begin in earnest. I watch several creators who are over 60, one is 80! I'm in awe of their confidence! I grew up in a time where we were taught, If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. 🤐 I'm appalled at the nastiness that comes from behind an anonymous keyboard 😑 I watch the channels of people I like. I don't have to agree with ANYTHING in a particular video. But there's a respectful way to disagree. I'm always kind in my comments because there's always something kind to say. It's a matter of respect. I probably won't live to see you turn 50, but I'll be here as long as I exist. Just continue being yourself...it's a great thing to be Amy!💚💚💚
Love videos like this where influencers get real. I spend so much time watching your videos that I feel like we're besties and it's a way to get to know you better. I wholeheartedly agree that we can have different opinions on things and still be friends. We learn so much by sharing such things. I watch a lot of influencers knowing their skin type and taste is nothing like mine. I just enjoy their personalities and content. So when they love a foundation for oily skin, I know that product may not be for me -and I stay away. Why place blame on someone for something you chose to spend your money on. 🤷🏼♀️ I'm ranting...I hope you have a wonderful day lady
So much of reviews are subjective to personal preferences. When I was newly back into makeup, I was not at the same skillset as someone who has a makeup channel or is a working makeup artist. Maybe it blended easily for them, but for me, I had to put in more work. What tools are they using, skin type, undertone.. so many things- I could go on. The things disappoint me are lying and deception on social media. I rarely see this and I don't follow people out for a cash grab for subprime products. It does hurt the community as a whole and I wish those people would be more accountable. The internet is largely anonymous and it is easier for people to say things they wouldn't say to someone in person- is it right? No, but it happens. Keep your head up- you're doing great and the vast majority of these comments are negative self projections, people's unhappiness etc. I know it would be hard for me to receive unwarranted criticism, just try to not let it get to you. Take care.
People should just be respectful. I'm sorry you have to deal with it. I trust your opinions because you're familiar with different indie brands and formulas.
At this point TH-cam is TV for me. There are many content creators that I watch that like very different items. Sometimes I take their recs and other times I don’t. I understand if your audience is under 18 the “dangers” of influencing others to buy stuff but by a certain age we can all tell who should be trusted. Unfortunately, common sense isn’t common any longer.
Me too, I watch way more TH-cam than actual TV. I just love it and connecting with others. I am also so offended when one of my favorite TH-camrs gets attacked in comments. I'm like wow that is just so sad bc the ppl I watch are so genuine and just such sweet ppl. I feel like they're all my friends 😂

I would love to see you change and get older and wiser and become a 70 year old TH-camr … here for it
I like you and I trust your reviews, Amy ❤

I totally agree. Unfortunately though unless you have solid proof it’s hard to speak up.

Be you. I’m sorry if you are getting negative feedback but please be genuinely you. Ugh it’s about the makeup. You’re so unique! We love you!

Yes, still loving this look on you. I also hear you on the review front
Totally agree! BUT there are creators who are flat out liars! They definitely exist. There's always going to be that one bad apple 🤭

I would be understandably upset too 😮
Amy, You must get a hodge podge of conflicting accusatory comments. I hope you will be here til you’re 80!!
I think I would have a great channel at 74 years old! 😂😂😂😂

Yass! Here for not giving a fuck😂😘 if they don’t trust your opinions/reviews on things then don’t follow her ✌🏼
Love me some Amy ❤ La Barbie chula
