- In an effort to grasp the Kuki side of the ongoing violence in Manipur, we interviewed Mang Khongsai, a youth leader representing the Kuki tribe. The purpose of the interview was to gain insights into their perspective on the conflict between the Kuki and Meitei communities.
The youth leader addressed the accusation that Kukis are involved in poppy cultivation and arms trade, branding it as a serious allegation. He stressed the importance of verifying such claims through reliable sources and investigations.
Furthermore, the youth leader shed light on the perceived discrimination and marginalization experienced by the Kuki community at the hands of the dominant Meitei community. He suggested that these factors contribute to the resentment and tensions between the two groups.
This interview with the youth leader from the Kuki tribe provided a glimpse into the Kuki perspective on the ongoing violence in Manipur. It is important to note that this interview represents only one side of the conflict, and we will bring more interviews and ground reports to have a holistic understanding of the Manipur crisis.

They defend themselves everywhere kuki defending from karbi and dimasa in assam ,kuki defence from paite .kuki defence from naga and what not.
It is a pre-planned ethnic cleansing by the majority meitei community led by non other than the state government. However, the meiteis underestimated the Kukis. They thought maybe they'd take 3/4 days to wipe us out. We have survived till date, we will also survive and succeed throughout. We are not going in, they are not coming out. Separation from meiteis is the best available solution.

We ask for Separate administration not for pleasure but because its a necessity. The killings,the burning is too much for both sides to reconcile, the meitei wont dare to live in the hills and tribal wont dare to live in the valley. Its the only solution for both parties if they want to stay alive,like it or not.
I must say Kuki is demanding Seperate admin before this crisis… So better not to claim bcoz of this crisis…

I hope now u r very much aware that kuki-zo r treated as 2nd class citizens in Manipur by the majority meitei n biren singh.
If the conflicts is not state sponsored it cud have been stop the day itself before everything against kuki-zo was uprooted.

The ancestors of kukis were from Myanmar. The solution to these issues are to grant ST benefits to meiteis communities also and with corporate with kukis all discussion on round table to try to find amicable solutions. Coexistence will be the final as them were followed till now. Due shortage or congestion for space to build houses to meiteis and permitted them to settle them in hilly areas as.they willing to do so.
If kukis ancestor are from Burma then meitei also would have their source.I don't think they came suddenly out of the soil of Manipur.

There was no myanmar or india then. So it's wrong to say kuki ancestors were from myanmar. The kukis who had been living along the chittagong hill tract and other hills spanning present day manipur and myanmar became divided when the British left and India was formed.

Not spreading any kind of hate but "lamka" Has been called churachanpur for many many years, it was named after our king Churachand maharaj so it was meitei territory. Does it mean that poppy is not been cultivated in the hill areas.....and when the 3rd may March was entitled....ATSUM (All Tribal Student Union of Manipur) I agree that many Tribal brothers and sisters participated in the rally....based on the umbrella who organised the rally...but is the only kuki the tribal community in Manipur still protesting it... where are the Nagas and the other tribal community....they know your plans so they back out ....not all tribals support you.....
Because the meiteis provoke n target only the kuki community.. the meiteis are scared they if they touch the Nagas, they will join the kukis against the meiteis.. just imagine the meiteis can’t even tackle only one tribal community i.e the kukis.. then how will they bear the anger of two tribal communities.. they will be wiped out from their valley 700sq km. But I wud say that Meiteis are smart enough n succeed in implementing Divide&Rule policy.. we the Nagas don’t want to engaged in this violence against two communities.. but I personally stands wit the kukis. 💪
