Have u had any problems with lygus bugs or root lesion nematodes? I read buckwheat harbors these pests. I’m wanting to use buckwheat as a cover crop but I’m scared that I’m going to introduce those nematodes. Awesome vid btw!
Hi Vincent, I have never had problems with lygus bugs or root lesion nematodes, nor have I heard of it being a problem locally (southern BC Canada). I did a bit of research and the nematode reference seems to be from a study in 1973, more recent info I could find did not mention either problem with buckwheat. If you are concerned you can try a small "test" area first and then see what happens. It grows fast once established. Best of luck!!
Hi johnjude thanks for the kind words, watching and the sub. If you wait too long the buckwheat goes to seed. I have had this happen in small amounts with volunteer buckwheat the following season but nothing that became a huge problem. It is easy to identify and pull out and good for the soil. Best of luck!
Very practical advice about buckwheat and the benefits and ease with which you reap the benefits of your work. Good job!
Hi louis, glad you enjoyed, thanks for the comment

@@EasyGardenHacks ok thanks!
Where do you get bulk buckwheat for $5?
Hi, I get it locally at a food/garden/homestead type store. You can buy it online in packs too.
Hancock seed in Fl has good prices Sell 5-50 lob bags. The seed will stay viable for a long time
How tall does it get?
couple of feet, I recall about up to my knees
Great video 🎉
I hopefully turned my under early enough. My first time.
