    The 2020 NBA Draft has a ton of misses especially in the top-10. Some people say this was among the worst drafts of all time but that's actually not true. This is a look at the truth about the 2020 NBA Draft a few years later.

    ANT is still imperfect in many ways, but its potential is immeasurable. Halliburton may be the better player at this point, but ANT could be a future MVP-capturing superstar. If I were the Wolves GM, I would still choose ANT.

      Ant is still the better player right now as well anyway, AM hopps loves to over react more than anyone else to any and all small sample sizes then never mention his takes again unless they pan out at some point, for a small amount of time, the next half decade. I like both guys a whole lot and have been watching Halliburton for years from the big 12 and liked him then, but Ant has proven more and done more and like you said his ceiling and potential are more on top of that

The Timberwolves either need to let him go or make the right moves around him to make it better but after they pulled the biggest dumbest trade with Utah that set them back but KAT has to go and they have the players to move and get big returns, but do they build around Edwards and trade KAT or do they trade Edwards to build around KAT again? Yeah the Kings lost Haliburton, but they certainly didn't get fleeced and it wasn't a question of Haliburton vs Mitchell. Haliburton had to go because Fox and Turner are both on rookie max extensions, and you could say a Haliburton-Turner lineup would be roughly as good as a Fox-Sabonis lineup. And that's almost exactly what we're seeing. The trade was balanced and the narrative that the Kings got fleeced is kinda ridiculous if you ask me. Kings are performing slightly better than the Pacers right now because of the Haliburton trade and the other moves they made over the off-season. Kings knew Haliburton was valuable, but they had too many guards and the decision was inevitable. It definitely could've been much worse.

      Klay was recommended by three experts - Jerry West -who was on record saying he liked him pre-draft (through being Mr. Laker knew of Klay as he drafted his dad decades earlier), Kobe Bryant - said Klay can play (Klay went to nearby Santa Margarita High in LA) which is good enough for me, and Donnie Walsh (Indiana GM) said pre-draft that Klay reminded him of Reggie Miller. The Kings did not "choose" Mitchell over Halliburton. They experimented with Halliburton and Fox in the back court. The two could not play well together, so they had to choose one. Both players needed the ball in their hand to succeed.
    Never mind that they got an all-star with Sabonis in that trade. A center with a passing ability to take the load off Fox. And Mitchell comes off the bench, whereas Halliburton needs starters minutes to succeed. The Kings Pacers deal was a win win.

    i think it needs to be stated also that the pandemic affected the growth of these guys also. those workouts, practices, games, tournament experience are all important for development too. it's hard to bash on a Wiseman the same way one would bash on a Thabeet because instead of shooting himself in the foot, something else did. Same arguments can be made too in every draft for players finding themselves in situations or schemes that stunt growth (ie Patterson or Markannen being assigned to focus on team need rather than potential), but those are stacked with the results of the pandemic and affected players like Wiseman and Patterson greatly on top of it. It's difficult to put anyone in this lottery in the same category as the Bennett's and Thabeet's when so much went against them, it feels more like an injury case/a "what couldve been/what if" case for these guys.
    And for the Kings, they did not choose Mitchell over Tyrese...like at all. The pick had little value to trade, they had a nearly all-time bad defense, the board was weak, and he was just best available at the time. They chose FOX over Haliburton and that's become one of the best win-win blockbuster trades we've seen in the NBA in recent memory.

And especially when the guy you’re taking has hardly seen the court in two years at that time at a pivotal time in his development and when insane changes can happen in a few months much less years. And when you can’t evaluate him in all sorts of of in game or any pressure at all scenarios. And even more so when that’s big surviving of fire size and physical traits at the time.

    @amhoops one thing with centers, they normally take 3-5 years to develop. wiseman was taken 2nd but he may be a late bloomer. look at jakob poelt and jonas valancuinas. so you really cant say wiseman is a bust yet until 3-4 years have past. its just wiseman for a number 2 pick well he wasnt nba ready from the get go, and his injuries also contributed to it. that said wiseman doesnt fit the warriors time line, but neither does kuminga and moody.

    • @taesang5664
      @taesang5664 ปีที่แล้ว

      i think they can pull it off with kuminga, but they definitely need better vets because jmg is just not it. i feel like the two-way guys are still getting confused with the defensive/offensive schemes but they should be accustomed to it along the line. wiseman though, i feel like he needs to tweak a lot of things about how he wants to play. i honestly feel like he’s a bit selfish and if that’s the case, it doesn’t matter if kerr gives him play time because he’ll just do what he wants, not what the team wants.

    While Wiseman hasn't lived up to his potential, calling his pick a disaster for the Warriors is way off. They've already won a chip without his help so, there's that. And when you look at the youth on that team, they've managed to stockpile a ton of potential to prop the team up when their current big 3 are splashing no more. So, clearly, no matter how much better players picked after Wiseman turned out, it hasn't been a disaster for the Warriors. And then, there's the fact that there's no guarantee that anyone else chosen would've developed that way had they been drafted by the Warriors cos, let's face it, this is a team with a championship pedigree and vying for more. They couldn't afford to give their rookies the leash needed to develop properly, the way lottery regulars like Minnesota, Charlotte, and Sacramento could. The Wiseman pick could be likened to the Darko Milicic pick by the Pistons in 2003. If Detroit picked Melo, Wade, or Bosh, who knows how things would've turned out for them languishing behind All-Stars like Ben and Rasheed Wallace, Rip Hamilton, and Chauncey Billups, as well as defensive stud Tayshaun Prince. And who knows how Darko would've developed in Denver, Toronto, or Miami, where he would've had more leash to explore and expand his game and not be stifled by a rookie hating coach like Larry Brown.

If he’s not playmaking he doesn’t have any value on the floor compared to DeAaron and Davion(both can facilitate, is aggressive and always trying to score and can play defense). The reason why these teams get the 1st,2nd,3rd overall picks etc is because they’re bad and the play is meant to be a game changer. Wiseman is still developing and he doesn’t fit in a vet lineup which is why I think he would benefit on a rebuilding team right now.

    Bro imagine a Haliburton and booker back court that would be amazing and as a pistons fan this draft hurts I wish we took Haliburton or even Cole Anthony

    The Warriors needed the SF/C position filled. Drafting a guard still wouldn't have been a good fit!

    Tbh. Regarding the redraft, dubs would probably choose Ant over LaMelo given this is the time that Klay was out. Im thinking Lamelo will still be 3rd and be on the Hornets

    The Mavs dangled brunson, the 18th pick & the 31th pick to the knicks for the 8th pick because they wanted haliburton. The Knicks refused and took Obi Topin instead 🤦‍♂️. Managing to sign Brunson in Free agency later on does not undo the knicks stupidity. Luka & Haliburton would have been the best backcourt in the NBA.

    I really believed on killian honestly. Just because on how he moves in his pre nba games. Wrong thoughts tho.
