Not really. Either that or he is being dishonest. Kursk has proven to be the dumbest thing Ukraine could have done. The only reasons worth committing to it were to divert Russian troops in the Donbas or capture the Kursk nuclear power plant as a bargaining chip. It became apparent within a week neither of those things would happen. Russia doubled down there. They have been gaining ground in the most fortified areas of Ukraine at their fastest rate in two years. All for ground they can't afford to hold.

I do not think Ukraine needs to win. Imagine the war going on for longer. I think Russia needs to suffer economic and political break down for this war to end. Putin just has nothing in his DNA that allows him to retreat from the occupied territories and settle the matter. On the other side it will be very hard for Ukraine to fight back and take back all the occupied territories. It is almost impossible and the price is too high to pay. The long term negative effects of the war on Russia might be the more important factors compared to territories. Ukrain can sustain the economic side of the war for as long as it is backed up by the European and American economies. This war will not be decided by military equipment or numbers of soldiers, but by barrels of oil sold, working refineries, wages paid and bridges, railways and roads built. The economy ends as soon as there is no longer sustainable production and transport of goods, local government, schools and infra structure rebuilt and no wages be paid.

General Hodges always seems to talk a lot of sense. Ukraine has to win this conflict. Any other option will mean further conflict in Europe further down the line. The West should not be scared of Russia. They need to be put in their place. If our politicians fail at this, then China and Iran will jump on the bandwagon. Nip it in the bud, I say.

The depth of General Ben Hodge's understanding of the Ukraine situation is always abundantly evident in his articulation. I wish him every success in his determination to convince our leaders that they need to find the courage to do the right thing. We would like to stand with our heads held high feeling proud of our collective ability to do what it takes, when it counts.

General Hodges is so right. Pres. Biden has offered virtually no explanation of the importance of supporting Ukraine. Besides the morality of the effort support for Ukraine gets to both the economic and national security of the United States.
