While I'm mostly a fluttercord lover, I am willing to acknowledge the possibility of Discord and Celestia once having a relationship. You did a crazy good job on this animation. You go! And Discord's monologue sends chills through me.

Celestia's portrayal reminds me of Mistmane. They were both very beautiful, and they summoned flowers and other natural forces to restore everything back to life. They had to defeat someone seemingly close to them but eventually reformed them.

In all seriousness, this was tragically beautiful. Him with the flower was just heartbreaking. Rejection and the pain it causes is traumatizing and can easily make you lose hope of ever being accepted again, especially if it was after finally opening yourself up again.
Poor Discord. Great backstory. I loved how it was from his perspective so we got to see it all, yet we do still see what he did wrong. It wasn't all injustice or Celestia's fault, some (if not most) of what he did he did to himself.
The last line killed me where he still think Celestia is beautiful even though he wished to torture her and she had defeated him.

I like the idea that Discord has a crush on Celestia. But I prefer the story that Discord, Celestia and Luna were the only survivors of their races from an ancient war between the Alicorn and Draconequis. The three of them found each other while still young and grew up together. Discord and Celestia having a bit of a thing for eachother when they reach their young adult years but once Celestia started taking her Princess duties to serious and didn't have time to play anymore Discords pranks started to get more and more extreme so he could get attention from her.

This animation or animatic whatever you want to call it is a perfect example of how Hasbro has never given an "official" origin story for Discord i mean we all know that most of the other mlp villains and former villains have backstories so why don't they do the same for Discord right?..because an origin story for him is long overdue.
It was amazing! The voice actor playing Discord managed to pull out all the emotion... The music suits every scene perfectly and the artwork and animation bits are terrific! Amazing job everybody!
I always thought Discord was the victim of the whole story. He's like mlp's joker.

God I feel so sorry for Discord. If Ponies or even Princess Celestia had just given him a chance and looked past his appearance, he would have at least made a friend or two. Therefore he wouldn't become such a monster and eventually be turned to stone. 😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😭

When reading the original comic, both versions, I always got the distinct feeling that Discord is very much an unreliable narrator. The everything he said was not exactly true or at least a one-sided perspective, even perhaps that he exaggerated a few details to better garner sympathy... While at on the other hoof his words also implyed a lack of empathy to others or even a lack of guilt.
That, was chilling. Discord here reminded me of a cross between the Joker and the Major from Hellsing Ultimate.

Though I like the concept of a back story, I don't like the whole "One look and all she saw" reason. I think the Daughter of Discord plot was better because at least there was a possibility of love between the two.
Yes, it's too short. It needs better backstory beetween Celestia and Discord, if she really broke his heart so hard he turn evil. More then I decide to introduce myself to that hot looking lady, but she didn't like me, so I killed everybody. She didn't like it even more. The end.

Oh boy, here come the waterworks. And here I was thinking I’d just gotten over the sadness of the original comic narrative.
Yet another thing Celestia has done to hurt others. Discord first, then Luna, than it could have been Spike if Twilight had messed up that test and killed him in the egg.

Somehow, they even made Discord lame in pony life that entire show is lame since it takes mature badass ladies and seemingly tunes them into 14 year old brats who have nothing better to do than play on their phones the main reason Discord is lame on it is probably because they got a different voice actor John De Lanci was the entire character of Discord.

I'm only a minute in this video and I love this.
I always preferred the first version, unpolished thought it was. Partially that's because I think the less polished look suits the story, but part of it is that I do feel strongly that "I have an appreciation for beauty" needs to be at the beginning of the story. It needs those bookends to tie it together perfectly.
Excellent art. I'm glad to see when people no longer think Starswirl turned into Discord. And, well, we have conclusive evidence now, don't we?

The art work is gorgeous.
Checking the comics, it seems people still miss a few points. First, that this is Discord and the narration is from his perspective... the trope Unreliable Narrator is I feel very likely to be in place. Two, Celestia was not beholden to return the draconequus' affections or give him a chance the first time they met. Third, instead of doing everything in proving her as well everyone else right that he was a monster... Discord could have taken the more reasonable path and proved that he was good.
More, we don't know Princess Celestia's side of things nor what mischief and trouble this Spirit of Chaos may have brought before the two even met. Perhaps draconequus as a whole had a reputation, perhaps even legends and records of the chaos they brought. Remember, by Discord's own words in Return of Harmony he was eons old. It is quite telling it took him so long to eventually reform and how it was Fluttershy of all ponies. Admittedly, their relationship is another trope with Futtershy being Discord's Morality Pet to allow the reform to take place.
The bottom line though, Discord's actions were very much his own and near rejections from a mare who didn't know him nor that he knew her. She was a pretty thing, a beautiful creature to look upon that he has been spying on from afar. Instead of actually putting forth an effort to prove that he wasn't a monster, he decided to say "Screw It" and prove that he was a monster after a single failed encounter. Sometimes, things don't work out on the first try.

What a thought provoking and confusing last line. If he has no appreciation for beauty what did he see in Celestia to begin with? Was he just expressing sour grapes at the end or was this whole diatribe his confessing a need for a Fight Club esque desire to destroy Something Beautiful? Personally I feel like Discord does appreciate Beauty but maybe he can't fully understand it. In any case great performance. Fabulous artwork and editing.

Amazing story. Unfortunately though the feeling behind it is more or less why I can't get behind Discord and Celestia. (Yes I understand this isn't cannon) But Sunbutt sees the world for her, Fluttershy sees the world for the things that live in it.
It kind of reminds me of the story Frankenstein's monster.
Well animated and voice acted but it seems like a fanficton idea from season 2 before we got to know Discord. He's not a hardcore, malicious tyrant. When he pinned down that one pony, what was supposed to be implied that he did? Did he straight up murder her? I can't really see Discord being that vicious even at his worst. (I generally can't picture him physically terrorizing anyone to a degree where they're thinking he'll maim or mutilate them) From what we see in the series he had to be stopped because he was doing whatever he wanted like a bratty kid by making things topsy-turvy and wouldn't listen to reason, not murdering and creating famine and death. And he doesn't seem like he likes Celestia, I know it's just a ship but it's one that I don't really see why it persists given they don't get any scenes of chemistry in that way.
They’ve had secret chemistry literally so many times in the show. You clearly weren’t paying attention.
I never saw anything where Discord seemed like he was interested in Celestia in that way, he just seems casually irreverent toward her similarly to how he treats Twilight Sparkle since he does that to ponies who he sees as too straight-laced. He doesn't really seem to think of her as someone special he has to appeal to.
It *WAS* a fanfiction idea from season 2. If you read the credits or the description, you would have seen this was from a fan comic made in 2012

I kept avoiding this for the past two days because I thought it would be something almost fueling one out of the many Discord ships, and I'm sorry, but I don't really ship Dislestia.
But then I watched it and I had that little part of my mind (that all people have) that kept on pointing out places I thought it was in, but I still had all of it focused on the actual idea of how the backstory would make sense and, in the end, I thought it was an excellently put through idea, it made sense with the show and I could see how it would make sense, since it was shown that he never really found a world without chaos appealing to him. I thought it was excellently made and it would be a quite good idea that Hasbro would put it as his backstory, because as the King Mr DeLancie said, he would not really know what it would be.
