Labour's Motoring Plans | Keir Starmer: "I Love Driving"

- Labour's leader, Sir Keir Starmer, claims he loves driving, but what does that mean for the UK's motorists if Labour takes power in 2024? With the Conservatives floundering, it seems almost certain that Starmer will be the next Prime Minister. In this video, I look into Labour's pre-election motoring policies and what they could mean for you and your car.
Labour has announced a series of initiatives aimed at revolutionising the UK's road infrastructure, including the ambitious goal of rolling out 300,000 EV chargers by 2030. However, questions remain about the feasibility of these plans and whether they can deliver on their promises. From tackling the high cost of public EV charging to fixing one million potholes a year, Labour's pledges could dramatically alter the landscape for British drivers.
Join me as I analyse Labour's policies, examine the potential impact on motorists, and discuss what Keir Starmer's love of driving might translate to in terms of government action.

Reform UK 👍🇬🇧

He loves driving people off of the road…?
🤣🤣🤣
God help all of us
With him ,God help God.
Vote Reform,the new opposition,at least.
How can anyone say that they love driving, whilst planning to ban the clutch pedal and the manual gearbox?
As most of us already know here- *Starmer has hardly any principles and will promptly his soul to whatever's the current thing is. He flip-flops so fast that he could single-handedly power the Rutland Water Dam by just doing that!*
Road Safety. 1990 no Airbags no ABS 2000 Airbags and ABS 2010 Stability control...2020 Ridiculous power and lots of in car distractions... Draw your own conclusions.
Don't worry, Apple, Google, and Microsoft will switch off the in-car tablets quite soon and long before they cease working.
It sounds like Keir Starmer is going for the farmer vote with the manure he is spouting out. 🤔
If Starmer wants me off the road I will gladly keep my money🏴
They'll soon take it off you another way!
Work in the loft?
Never going to happen by 2030 just not possible. Starmer is off his trolley 😜
Starmer is no doubt off his trolley and so are all the people that vote for him.
It’s tooth fairy
Vote REFORM for Government NOT opposition!
The next car I will buy is a diesel and I will be driving it regardless of what they say or what think 😮😮😊😊
Diesel most likely will get cheaper over the next few years too as less people are using it, until supermarkets stop selling it, my estimate around 2040. Let me know if I was right via a séance please.
@@st200ollow demand equals higher price.. this is how all global commodities work.
@@st200olif you get a older diesel or one suitable to run on bio diesel you could still run them on cooking oils. The original diesel engine ran on a oil made peanuts
@@bentullett6068good luck getting a non common rail diesel to do that though. You're looking at OLD, around 20+ years and older.
@@djtaylorutube that's why I said some old diesels can do this. A lot of Volvo's and SAAB models of the past are also rated to run on bio fuels.
20mph speed limit on motorways turn left lane into bus lane thats how I see labour in power.
Thats if you allowed out of your 15 min cities, the country is going to slowly die from 5-july

You can always tell a car-enthusiast - he stops mid-sentence to turn to look at a classic! 11:23
Imagine the punch ups when people want to use a lamp post charger, especially when it's outside someone else's house.
Eek!
Instead of slowing the cars down, why not re-introduce then tufty club (lessons for children as to how they should cross the road)?
I think they should bring back all those TV adverts on road safety, not playing on railways or on frozen lakes.
It happened to me today ,some BLOODY MUPPET ,PHONE STUCK TO FACE,AND THEM STUPID FLUFFY HEADPHONE STUCK ON HER HEAD ,STEPPED RIGHT OFF THE PAVEMENT WITHOUT LOOKING,I HAD ALREADY STOPPED GAVE A BLAST ON THE HORN ,SHE NEARLY SHIT HERSELF,AND THEY BLAME THE DRIVER.
@@melvinplant8637 sadly I think this is purposely planned to make youngsters deliberately thick so they get badly injured quickly or become more conned into what the government agenda is.
Buckle up and assume the crash position, this one is going to be a doozy.
Put the new bus routes through LTN's.
Law of Diminishing Returns - There's no one remaining to buy EV's. Volkswagen are in turmoil because they are pitched between building EV's no one wants and ICE vehicles governments say they're going to ban. Volkswagen will go into receivership very soon if the Deutschland government doesn't bail them out.
I was a candidate for a new EV last year but as soon as I realised it would cost more to publicly charge because I live in a high-rise, I am a disabled wheelchair driver with no accessible local charging bays.
Will the government send someone to do the charging lead thing?
I knocked the idea on the head.
Labour manifesto should be filed under the heading "Fiction"
Out of the pan into the fire seriously keep shifty starmer OUT
With the charging it's not just having enough/more chargers, but the infrastructure and capability to generate enough electricity for this, aswell as everything else too.
It's a complete car crash, pardon the pun
5:50 they already have chargers on some lamp posts but problem is if they are going to put chargers on every lamp post, they will need to update wiring.
And if they use lamp posts and there is a shed load of wires trailing across the path, who's liable when an elderly person trips or a kid ect
@@kevindarkstar probably they would have to update by digging out old ones and putting new ones
STARMERGEDON the end.
If you think we’ve had some bad PM’s in the last 5 years you ain’t seen nothing yet
While you are walking around your neighbourhood, spot how many houses have EV chargers. No need to show them to us, but could count them. Only one I spotted was by the lamppost you discussed. Low take-up there then.
I saw this one, I think its a PHEV. th-cam.com/video/azNM01SgCt4/w-d-xo.html
It's not what politicians say they will do, it's what they don't tell you that’s the real danger. Remember Sadiq Khan (Labour) said very little if anything about expanding the ULEZ zone to the whole of the Greater London area in his electoral campaign to become mayor for his second term, but he went ahead and did it despite the backlash. Why did he not include this in his mayoral campaign because he knew he stood a chance of losing if he did.
Then you have Keir Starmer who has broken every single promise he made during his campaign to become leader of the Labour Party. He also has a reputation for flip flopping saying one thing one minute, then changing his mind the next. He is a virtual signaling politician who will say almost anything just to get your vote.
He will say anything cos he is going to NEED ,8.5 BILLION IN TAX RISES,HES AS BAD AS SUNACK
He loves driving people mad
🤣🤣🤣
As usual politicians out of touch. EV’s had their day not wanted by the public. Stupid reducing speed limits, it’s the drivers that don’t and still won’t follow speed limit. I’ve seen no end of young drivers speeding. A million pot holes isn’t that many where whole roads are so bad, they need resurfacing.
You ought to live by me it's like the bloody nurburgring and what do the police do sweet. FA.
Where do you live? 😲
What makes you think that the cables running to lampposts have already been massively oversized?
They haven't.
@@fredfred2363 only single phase and probably less than 5 amps?
They would all need to be re-cabled. They are connected to the "fifth Core" network in the street that runs in parallel with the 3 phase system that supplies single phase or three phase supplies to homes and business. The "fifth core" network was only designed to supply low current un-metered street lighting systems.
Lamp posts charging cars, that's really funny! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Street lampposts had enough power for the old fashion bulbs now they have been converted to LED lighting there’s enough leftover capacity for a slow charging EV charger good enough to top up an EVs battery overnight, however I do see one major problem with this and that street vandals that damage the cables. You get up the next day to find you don’t have enough charge to get to work!
will be driving the Bentley soon and doesn't have to pay a single penny😊😅😮😮😮😮😢 0:22 Mr starmer
I’m voting Reform
Q: isn't the problem with 'public chargers' they they tend to 'fast-charge' which reduces the life-span of the batteries? Wasn't there a call for a measure of battery life to help used car sales?
STARMER LOVES DRIVING BUT I BET HE WONT PAY FOR THE PAY PER MILE,AND IF HE DOES,HE WILL CLAIM IT ALL BACK ON EXPENSES.
Driving - with all the U turn’s he makes he never will drive in a straight line , he’s driving me round the bend
Brilliant thumbnail , apart from SKM. The Oxford Shooting Brake in green was my late grandfather’s favorite car. I spent my childhood watch him , while he made deliveries in it. I also sat at the wheel for hours on end, imagining I was driving it. I’ve loved cars ever since and now have a 911. I hope a new Labour government doesn’t rob me of these memories and my only pleasure.
Does Kier drive a Wokewagon
🤣🤣🤣
5:10 this for petrol cars running cost should be lower for self charging hybrids.
Ok, Starmer talks about his first car and hints about the freedom it gave him. If he's really going to support the motorist he needs to seriously consider protecting our right for personal transport and the freedom to drive our own cars and ride our own motorcycles. Someone recently suggested that driving is a privilege NOT a right. I'm afraid I had to pull them up on this. After we've bought our car and paid so many taxes to do so, it is an absolute right.
The DVLA does not issue privileges; if you pay for your license then you have the right .
Those lamp posts are the wrong side of the path to use for EV charging unless they cut a channel through the path too.
I live in rural Wales and my insurance on my 2004 AMG has doubled to £800!!
😲😢
EV’s are more expensive to repair . This means insurance rates for all of us will continue to rise exponentially. The more EV’s on the road the more EV’s will be involved in accidents, thus pushing up the average cost of insurance for all drivers. We’ve all gotta pay ; and pay for a policy that isn’t even green since EV manufacturer is so environmentally unfriendly
They will say and do what their masters tell them.
Add Kahn to this death of personal transport 😱
Someone who drives Toyota Hybrid can’t be trusted with UK’s motorist policies so that’s why I will always vote 🗳️ independent for now on..
I drive a modified X1/9 (classic 70's wedge shape), runs 5mm above the minimum legal ride height, without bumpers.
If I get into a head-on with a SUV, the SUV will be scooped up and flung off like.
We thought things were bad. It’s about to get even worse but there’s no option.
0:27 I'm sorry my friend, but it certainly is your business as it is with all of us, as these people hugely affect our lives 🇬🇧👍🏻
I am over weight but soon I am going on the Labour plan diet .Every thing including food will become so expensive I won't be able to aford to eat.
You can't have electric cables trailing across the pavement, especially at night. So not "an easy win"
If the government made free charging available at every lamp post, everyone would pay for those who can afford an EV. IT'S A NO FROM ME
Lampposts impossible the power draw from bulb to EV on lots of them, a new main supply to cope with that would cost billions.
I didn't have a car as a law student. Starmer was a rich boy
One thing which will be stopped like it did before under Labour is the rolling free 40 year road tax & only came back when the tories came back to power
Possible
@@BrownCarGuy lets hope not
I don’t believe anything Starmer says so I never bother listening. He changes his mind as and when it suits him.
he just doesn't like the surfs driveing
Pay per mile national road charging is on the way, to expedite the transition to electric.
What about Starmer and 20mph, are we going to have to suffer even more of it?
Very likely
We are screwed. That's what I think.
Hmm, so please.
Exactly what kind of cars are you talking when comparing pence per mile?
You can't say it's more expensive and then give nothing to support it.
Not difficult to work out. Just Google average diesel and petrol mpg and average fuel prices.
My diesel works out at about 13p per mile, my petrols about 24p per mile.
@@djtaylorutube
This just proves you know nothing about the mean. Allow me to take an extreme case to demonstrate.
Two people, one a director and the other a labourer. The director is on 175K and the labourer 25K. The arithmetic mean is 100K.
How much does that figure really tell you about the earnings of each?
Yeah, that's what I thought. Politicians use the word average to confuse the masses.
So as I said, WHAT KIND OF CARS are being used for this comparison?
@@gottliebdee263 I know exactly what mean refers to. Let's use any figures of yours, What's your view of typical, average diesel mpg? Same for petrol?
If you want me to use my classic V8 @ around 18mpg, then it's clearly not typical, that's why I didn't use that one.
Most petrol are considered around 38mpg these days, diesel 50ish isn't unreasonable for a back of the envelope figure.
Offer your figures and car examples, if you want to pick extremes, be sure to explain why those aren't "average cars". 😉
@@djtaylorutube Hopefully you know what standard and mean deviation are also.
I didn't suggest any mpg at all. I asked what cars the AUTHOR was using.
Do you have an insight as to what the AUTHOR was using or are you just guessing?
Oh and 'Most petrol are considered' isn't necessarily the average. If you think it does, you do not know what the mean is.
@@gottliebdee263 yep, did statistics thanks but not relevant here.
I'm making an informed guess based on readily available information, which can be freely found online, you too can do a quick search for it.
I was generous with figures from my vehicles, other figures reckon petrol 36mpg and diesel 43mpg.
Why should BCG have to go and state specifically which vehicles when it's published and UK.gov sure when publishes a paper on it.
I'm not sure why the repetitive desire to piss further up the wall about statistics when publicly available information answers it for you?
It's clearly established that it's generally more expensive per mile (when discussing energy costs) to run an EV when only using public charging. Which part are you disagreeing with? Provide data...
They need to be friend of the people instead of imposing ULEZ on the people
If Starmer loves driving he would not be in the Labour party!😂
The elephant in the room if we have to go all electric is already in plain sight in China. If we have to mass adopt them the electrical power supply will have to primarily be done by coal and gas which in the eyes of a government will be the cheapest and quickest way to generate electricity. Nuclear is another option but it takes 10+ years to put a nuclear powerstation on line. The renewables aren't great and even though they say we are mostly powered by wind and solar a lot of these aren't exactly clean when you look into it and the government will never tell you that the grid is backed up by diesel emergency back up generators located at office blocks, schools, universities, events stadiums and shopping complexes, like supermarkets.
The De Facto PM will be Rayner 🤦♂️
Starmers car history doesn't really shout "petrol Head" does it, like you BCG I'm doubtful, if he is really on the side of the motoring public, let alone guys like us into cars.
Funnily enough Starmer and myself are are similar age, passed my car test in early 1980's (first time) my first car was a £150 Hillman, my second car was a mk2 3 litre Capri Ghia, 3rd car was a V6 Hot-Rod Ford POP, third was another 3 litre Capri GXL all in the space of 3-4 years, and I wasn't a law student like he was, and probably on a lot more money than I was, is he a "Petrol Head" seems unlikely doesn't it. I on the other hand after owing the best part of 50 cars and 50+ motorbikes since the 80's might just be 🤔🤔 perhaps I should run for PM 🤣🤣
Labour are just incompetent.
