I’m good. I’ll stay independent. I write, make my own beats, album art etc... fuck a major deal. And when I do get known and have a loyal fanbase. I will just sell my music on my own website.
My man Ryan Leslie... that’s what I’m talking about... being independent makes the maths work 💯 come on y’all. Good looking out Dorian. You’re schooling us dumb MFers 😉
Check out Cormega interview on Drink Champs Dorian, just came out yesterday. Got some great nuggets Im sure u can use about the independent game .He is a veteran at the independent game who's thriving. Stay blessed brother love your channel
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣...Crazy thing is my name is Carlyle. I live in Indianapolis. But I attended Lawrence Central HS. I passed Both Math & English. I know it’s not me you are talking about. But it’s funny though. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣..I know you went to North Central HS. But anyway I am new to your page. You are doing a good job. I am not in the music industry. I will try to use some of your knowledge in my industry. 👍🏽👍🏽
It's a good idea to get signed first(if you're lucky) to get the exposure then go independent. Ryan Leslie wouldn't have made that much independent if he didn't get a deal first. More examples are Russ and Tinashe.
@@lyrics2challenged yes , he sold for $50m, first of all his tax bracket means he technically sold his masters for $25m. He has made more than that in 1 year of music in his peak, then he ends up selling his whole masters over 20 years of rapping for only $25m(after tax)! That’s an L 😂
@@stonergamer4008 Not only that, the guy sold generational wealth. If he owned his masters and for some reason people are listening to his music 200 years from now, his family would get paid from it.
Fame has nothing to do with a sustainable living. In fact I’d argue that it is the opposite, but owning your own stuff and managing your brand is sustainable. You may not be a multimillionaire, but you could average 6 figures. Even if you only made 60k a years doing what you love... how is that bad? Everyone needs to learn these self publishing and ownership principles. Stop giving your life and money away to people who don’t care.
You’re right about most stuff but you can’t put J.Cole & Kendrick in the same category as Drake in money-making. C’mon now! Drake makes more money than both them dudes combined. You take what J.Cole earns, add it to what Kendrick earns and multiple it by 2, that’s how much Drake earns. You better put some respect on that Canadian boy’s name.
You got all this masters but you're not making money off it. Being Independent is bullshit if you don't have a share in the music industry market. Having a popular name can easily be translated to money with gigs, shows and tours. And you forgot the most important thing, Independent artist has no network, where as major artist has a lot and artist who are already rich can easily hook them up!
