I think I'm in the minority. I always picked Bulbasaur as a starter. Toxic + Leech Seed was a nice combo in the original gen due to a glitch that caused Toxic to increase the damage increment of Leech Seed every round. They patched it out starting with Gold/Silver. Fun times back in those days.
All the starters are a good choice! As I got older I had favorites but gen 1 was before my time and those are all perfect choices in my opinion. Bulbasaur!!!!!
