You guys gotta remember he's running the alpha with standard specs and it still keeping up with the ps4. Imagine if he upgraded the processor, graphic card, ram etc. That's what makes pc the master race, how you can upgraded parts you need rather than to buy a whole new machine.
I agree with you, but there are two mistakes. First, you can't upgrade the GPU on the alpha and a console might be better for some people, so it isn't really the matter race. PC's are generally more pricey than consoles and you constantly have to upgrade parts where as a console won't show it's age for six years. Also sine people might already have a laptop from school or work making the internet accessibility on computers pointless for them. For me, pc is the matter race. But maybe it's not for Joe Schmoe
Zahavi J Not necessarily. I have it and the Hivemind interface is kind of clunky. I only use desktop though. I love it but would understand why some people would rather have a console.
Thundertube7 Honestly who cares what is the 'master race'?.. Oh wait, yes, PC fanboys, who everybody else always ignores, care. Anyway, it's a really neat system, I mean, really; beautiful design, good price, upgradeable, but not a single PC gamer is going to buy it (if there's any PC gamers here who are going to ditch their old rig and trade it for an Alpha, raise your hands please!). The people who are thinking about switching from console to PC might buy one, but most of them will probably end up buying a normal PC.. Because what's the added value of the Alpha over a 'normal' $600 or $800 PC? Its size? That's not great a selling point. As beautiful a product as it is, I'd be surprised if it was a commercial success. I'm sure the people who buy it will be happy with it, and maybe this is the way to go in the future.. Consoles and PCs seem to have been converging for a while..
+SuperCoon88 *Exclusives *Ease of use *Full controller support *Two wires and a ps button *Leave on shelf and replace every seven years *Small (compact) *Most friends play on it *$400 *Gamesharing (play the shared game at the same time as the game recipient unlike steam) *Ps+ Free games and demo's *Larger community yep
ABCDE FGHIJK I agree. There are many good things about consoles compared to computers. BUT there are also benfits of computers. Customization, Steam Sales (which blow PS+ out of the water), not needing a subscription, MANY more games, modding, more keys= more interesting games, other tasks that require Microsoft Word, Facebook, emails, etc., the Alienware Alpha can be seen on sale for 400 dollars, learning about the computer parts and programming, and if youre into it, pirating (which I am not). I have a PS4 and a computer though, so I'm non biased.
Lol the PS4 is already 1 year old and will still be able to run any game thrown at it for the next 9 years. While the alienware is going to require an upgrade every 2-3 years to keep up.
Why would it require an upgrade every 2-3 years? As long as Consoles keep holding back development, the alpha will continue to run the games at least as well as the consoles, probably better. The PS4 is already 1 year old and still cant run a game at 1080p at 50 or more FPS simultaneously.
MEDiumInc I have gamed on the pc for atleast 10 years now. I bought my last gaming pc back in 2009, 9800gt,4gb ram, core 2 duo 3.1ghz it could barely play anything on medium settings in 2012. The ps3 and the xbox 360 which came out 8-9 years ago can still play any latest games without a hiccup.
MEDiumInc I bet ya that in a couple of years Sony will have ps4 games running 60fps at 1080hd. Just look at the ps3...compare a launch title like motorstorm to gran turismo 6. The diffrence is incredible. Once the 1st party developers really understand the system games will be amazing on ps4
mat smith There is nothing more for the developers to understand.. It is plain old x86 architecture. There is nothing new to learn. This isn't like the ps3 with its super complicated and super powerful CPU that was never seen before. It isn't like the last console launch where the hardware was bleeding edge at launch. Developers can't learn anything new because there is nothing new to learn, the hardware in them is seen in every day computers. So what would the learn that they don't already know?
supbrotv Yeah the ps3 and 360 can play modern games.....at lower then low settings at a resolution lower then 720p without anti-aliasing.And also since when is 20 frames without a hiccup? By the way since everyone with an alpha has the same gpu, alienware is pushing developers to optimize the alpha the same way a ps4 is optimized due to everyone having the same gpu. There are no hardware variances. DirectX 12 will also help a ton.
Can you please compare versions of DriveClub, Uncharted 4, The Last of Us, Tearaway, Gran Tourismo, God of War, Shenmue 3, The Last Guardian, Resogun, and Until Dawn, etc? Oh wait.
+Charlie Danielson sure we'll port them over to PC crank up the settings to Ultra, 2K or 1440p resolution, 144fps and watch the... oh wait for it... the PSpoor with pre-dated 2012 hardware collapse before your eyes, better yet... go up in smoke Lmao
so you want to compare this tiny list of exclusives (most of them rather mediocre) with the hundreds of exclusives from PC? there are even some alphas out there looking better than most of what the consoles have to offer. and every single game is way cheaper.
+caos024 fanboy = someone who has a both consoles and a PC? sure makes sense. www.gamespot.com/forums/pc-mac-linux-society-1000004/big-pc-exclusives-of-2015-2016-2017-new-31154099/ PC has great games and overall just more possibilities. I do not know why you get crazy about this stuff (maybe a fanboy yourself?) but you wouldn't say a Mustang is faster than a Lamborghini, yet you can have fun with both. the Lamborghini is just way more expensive, so it makes sense that it is so much faster. great games huge community way cheaper games modding (just look at the hd enhancement mod for battlefront) alpha (real alpha, with community input and real changes)
I don't know why people won't realize that PC is better. this does no mean that you can't have fun with consoles, it just means that the PC is overall way ahead. and please just stop with the budget argument, if you want cheap buy a coloring book.
Any recommendations as far as building your own gaming versus a pre-built. Was actually interested in the Corsair Bulldog. Already own a Xbox One but would like add a gaming pc to my living room setup instead of a PS4. I've always been more of a console gamer ever since SNES and so I thought this Alpha would be nice but it still seems pretty close to the current consoles. What about reliability or if complications come up with a PC? If I don't necessarily have a PC background, could I still have a pretty comfortable experience similar to a console?
Honestly, what's the difference? Both have outstanding graphics and whatnot, but at the end of the day, all that matters is the games, and that's the most important part; especially IF you are a gamer.
Finally XD i do not see anything but kids saying "duh, u will need an upgreid 2 yirz fron nau, so fuck u!!", seems like no one really understand that consoles and Gaming Pc's are for the games, and for fun, not for the graphics or the price of the machine
Alienware alpha!!!! Yeh yeh I know it more expensive but if you think it through you will actually save money! First of all alienware alpha has free online! No fees! Then the games are wayyyyyy cheaper! I seen assassin creed black flag selling for 10$ on steam! Then if you one the guy who pirate games, you can do that! So alienware alpha won!
xxjermxx70 well no The Alpha wins, and you save money with the PC, there a bigger upfront cost but then you save money on cheap games no subscription to play online etc, where you gotta pay monthly yearly or what not to even use multiplayer and then the console games are like £50 each and then you got windows so you can do work on there make videos edit videos and what not on PC, sorry if you don't like the truth but there it is
OMD PC has so many more exclusives than wii Xbox and PlayStation combined and then more, and the alpha is running windows 8.1 so you still get the same full customization as a normal PC
unknownsniper23 No .. can't replace the most important part to replace the graphics card idiot. And no most of any and all PC exclusives don't get supported out of the gate with the Alpha, in fact I will let you tell me why out of the gate the Alpha can't CONTROL most PC exclusives.
***** PC was clearer, by far. Where you can see individual bushes and trees on the horizon of the mountain on the PC, the ps4 couldn't render it and it just looked cloudy Textures on the gun and gloves definitely go to PC as well
I hope they update this with at least a 2Tflop GPU soon. It would make me feel more comfortable about it's longevity over a few years since the GPU is soldered in. A bit more of a lead over the consoles would make me feel more comfortable.
***** Not the point. I just want this with a bit more headroom over them for the coming years when devs will optimize less for this chip when it's old. Especially as the GPU is soldered in.
+Crackhead jack Because it would probably cost more and most people prefer consoles over pcs because pcs can be complicated and it's easier to play with friends on a console
4:45 you're confusing the PS4 with the Xbox One... the Xbox One renders only at 900p instead of 1080p. The PlayStations render full HD (both the 3rd and 4th).
Isn't online pay to play on ps4? I think id rather upgrade my ram on the alpha than dish out more money to sony for yearly memberships. Can't wait to pick up the alpha. I've been a long time ps3 gamer but consoles are gonna get left in the dust by PCs, consoles will always be around, but never as good as an Alienware
@@BathingAfrican bro why u lying, wouldn't u rather tell the truth so other uninformed people will know what they are signing up for when purchasing a Playstation 4 with the intent to play online.
+Eric Christy Im waiting for console users to realize PC IS more powerful.... And PC user to stop thinking everyone gives a fuck about the power of the device they use.
+Eric Christy you only upgrade your pc if you want to be at "Max" at all times. while console stay the same res or start dropping res. PC user wants to have all setting at max setting, push 60 plus fps, and always reaching for the new Resolution. if you want to stay at the same res you are now then your hardware will always run the games. my 970 will always run any game better than the ps4 its just my 970 wont always be able to run the game Max for future games because they are moving forward. just had to shot the notice of "You must always change hardware" because no, you only need to change hardware if you are not happy with the setting you are running on. my friend got my old 660. that card ran a better than the ps4 when it was release and 2 years later still runs any game better than the ps4 version. other than that...just game on what ever you wish and drop the graphic BS. Graphics will not be pushing anymore with a year or 2 for the simple reason of "Pushing Graphics" means increase of Development, which that means a increase of $$$ needed to spend on the projects, and then which means a increase of money needed to make a profit. you can see how that cycle will kill a company. plus for what spend that money when in 2 months a better looking games comes out anyways? Halo 5 did the right thing for saying F Graphics and lets focus on gameplay with 60 fps... if you on Xbox 1 you will be thankful thrust me. gameplay last longer than any graphics will.
+Luke Thompson true, i mean i dont hate any of it. i have a PS4. all im sayin' is that with PCs, you can customize a lot of things, plus mods! cuz who dosnt like mods?
+Luke Thompson The whole master race thing is a joke... but it does stem from some sort of truth. Even not being part of any race baiting BS... we all want to get the most for our money.. and looking at PC vs. console 1 vs. console 2 is a good way of determining the best bang for your buck.
The alienware alpha seems to be able to render better and quicker. The alpha also shows the ability to handle more objects in the frame at one time But the ps4 can render animated textures, and operate them much better. Both of them have faults, but they both make up for it in their own aspects.
The ps4 is a new platform with engineers still working on optimisation for the the console, this year you will start to see what the ps4 can do,we already know planetside 2 is 1080p 60fps on ps4 with ultra high settings something only a high end gaming pc is capable of. The alienware alpha is good at the moment but not down the line as it's already being maxed out.
Picked one up for 399. You really can't beat this price point when looking to play games like DoTA2, LoL, WoW, etc. Which is what I was looking for. The 860m variant is more than enough to power titles like these and if you were looking for an 860m in a laptop it would cost a extra 150-200 dollars depending.
This is flawed, so flawed beyond belief. The ps4, now priced at $419 AUD, vs the Alienware alpha BASE MODEL prices at $800AUD with a meagre 4gb ram and an i3. Firstly, these specs are underpowered as hell, if they're able to run anything, it won't be for long. Secondly, you can buy a ps4 for half the price and fill your library with a few good games for the extra money that you would have put into the Alienware alpha. Ok but what about your tests? You didn't show any frame rates, you showed a glimpse of some of the settings so there's no gauge of actual performance. That 2gb of video ram? What a joke. If you think you're gonna be able to game on that in 3 years like the ps4 or gaming PC's will, your kidding yourself, not to mention it's an 860M, Mobile, what is in laptops, not even a full desktop card! Should we discuss that it's an extra $80AUD for a wireless controller as opposed to wired? Nah let's leave that out because it would only make the package look even worse. Pathetic.
delveer singh completely agree, if you want to game on a console, buy a console. If PC gaming is more your piece of cake, build a proper gaming pc. The in-between, is not what a gamer wants or needs.
I actually made that music its on my soundcload page titled "thunder". Just search "wsyed" on soundcload to find my page. by the way MrToede if your a fan of star wars check out my top movie themes played on guitar video on my music channel TH-cam.com/wajsyed.
whats up with these lies you have? on Alienwares youtube they played battlefield 4 and cod Aw and they couldn't keep it between 50-60fps and they were using the I-5 configuration of the alpha
Alienware alpha run battlefield 4 at 1080p high setting while the ps4 run battlefield at 900p medium and high setting if you lower the alienware alpha to 900p and change the setting you probably would get the same frame has ps4 or even better
For some reason on the Alienware video they had 2x super sampling switched on, that's a big performance hit and probably explains the lower frame rate.
Whoaaaaaambaa!! *I just received my awesome FREE ΙΡΗΟΝΕ 6!* Better act NOW to get yours, here it is (only for US) : plus.google.com/108514152611148279174/posts/79neZ54FaQR

This reminds me of comparing HD-TVs at the store. They all show great quality in their own right. Thus, I think we're in a time period in which the graphical capabilities of each system is not all that different and one has to really dig deep to find out which one may be better. Unlike things were in the 8 bit/ 16 bit days.
Nice review/comparison. Have just ordered an i7 model. Customer service seems a little... meh.. from Dell so won't be holding my breath for it. I really believe the steam machines may take off in the next couple of years and I hope they stir things up a little in the console market!
The customer service is awful. I've been waiting 2 weeks for my package and it got delayed yesterday because there'd been a theft at the depo according to the package history. Despite all of this I'm really excited since it's arriving today. C: Good luck with yours, hope your delivery goes smoother than mine.
weskeeey I already have a beast of a rig as I am a scientist and always need plenty of 'oomph' for modelling and mapping. I have been an avid PC gamer since 1996. I wanted a PC eco-system in my living space rather than just on the same unit I work on. I wanted a PC that I could easily put in my lounge with my other gaming systems. I actually collect video game related hardware and have all the 8th gen systems (and previous generations all the way back to NES/Master System, Amstrad CPC, ZX Spectrum etc.... and many rarities). I am massively impressed by the i7 Alpha. It fit in to the tiniest of spaces in amongst my Wii U, XB1 and PS4 in front of my TV, I can already tell you it is far superior to the PS4 technically. It automatically sets everything on ultra settings which is nice. I am getting great fps from the latest games. They even given you 5 free games with the machine. It feels like a console which, whenever I have had my PC up to the TV it never quite did. In a good way, very fast boot up, straight to steam and game library, it really is a nice piece of kit. And I agree with FlashFire I was dreading the customer service but they actually moved my delivery forward, informed me personally of this, the tracking whilst in China was a bit vague (had me worried for a couple of days) but once it hit Europe it was fantastic, gave me delivery time down to a half hour window when I would receive it... and I did. That was the 'standard delivery' option (Christmas post as well). I must confess, I am surprised and that Dell have proven me wrong on all aspects, from the build quality of this tiny machine to the standard of the service... nice to be surprised once in a while.
You should've waited for the real Steam Machine launch I feel, but I think a big company like Alienware is gonna gauge just exactly how good the Steam Machine concept will do based of these sales so it's good to support something you believe in.
^ I watched both and I barely noticed any differences in terms of graphics. I will admit that the Alienware Alpha has better graphics I rather not spend more money on just graphics.
+TheCatOnWallStreet I would sure hope that you know that you can build a PC far better than the Alienware Alpha for 800 USD, and if you desire it, you can install SteamOS on it for a more console-like feel, though with less game compatibility; otherwise you can just use Big Picture mode for the same console-like feel..
Abel Graham yeah that gtx 745, is that a typing mistake on amazon? even if it's the same as the 400usd one, having 960m (ie.750ti), that upgrade to an i5 most likely won't give you much(if any) performance gain for gaming, as i3 4130 is enough for that graphics card, but 4130t is weaker(in exchange for lower power consumption), so i'm not sure. if build your own pc, you can choose parts combination having the best performance to price ratio-- i3 4130/ 4160 with gtx 950, 8 gb ram, 450W power supply, 7200rpm 1tb hard drive (instead of that slow 5400rpm in the alpha), with windows, only costs $600, and performs quite a lot better than ps4.
is such a small difference even worth arguing over? even these PC/Xbone/PS4 debates are so stupid, it's not like any of the systems have a huge advantage. I'd see the point if there was a huge difference... for example; the difference between a sega megadrive's graphics to the xbox 360's graphics. I think I'll wait another 10 years before I care.
+Rejectivez it matters to me because having played pc games for decades its hard for me to play console games. the low render resolution ends up distracting me as i notice it too easily. besides that yes pc gaming does have a large advantage though this review wasnt about that. they compared a alienware alpha at $449 to a ps4 at $399 which makes them price competitive with each other.
***** PC has the laregest library of free to play games, free indie games, and steam has exclusives everyday... and websites like G2A to get steam keys cheaper on top of that and you never pay for a subscription.... give me $500 I can build you a console crusher.. That has freedom and is not limited to just gaming... But hey, console is simple right?
The farcry 4 comparision isn't really a comparison since the graphic options are picked very differently on both systems. the ps4 had a higher lod on textures far away while the alienware pc had bette texture quality near to the player but worse lod. You can see a good example at 3:36 the mountain in the background left to the tower looks much better on the ps4 but the rocks on the right very close to the camera look better on the pc.
***** Keep making excuses... What does Forza Horizon 2 have to offer, exactly? False advertising? It's not an open world game. You can't have an open world game if your missions are linear.
***** But yet, there is still linear Story missions. Or "side-quests". Compare it to Second Son, an actual open world, or GTA V. There's not one linear mission.
the only reason I didn't buy a PC is because I don't have the money to buy a very good PC that cost $2,000. don't say you can get a good PC for $500. I tried buy failed because they wanted 900 or 1,000. that is the only downside to PC. it is way to much. if I did get a 500 PC I wouldn't be able to play all the new games. so I got the PS4.
stop..just stop..yes u can get a PC for that much and play new games that come out in the next five years....just build one..dumbo..if u order one....ull just get expensive shit from ppl who jack up the prices
^Matthew is right. You can play those games with medium to high settings fine with a $500 dollar PC. If you order one, you'll have to pay the people for building it for you plus shipping costs. Just order the parts themselves and build it at home for cheaper. Better yet, go to a electronics store near you and buy the parts there.
+Dan Queen In Brazil, the PS4 on the release month was about (On Brazilian money)R$4.500 (Next to U$2.300), anyway, in this case, an PC that costs U$2.000 dollars in Brazil, to a family with good payment, will be a good deal :D
well I live in the US so the price for a PS4 was $400 but didn't pay that much for mine. I paid $325 for my PS4. now for a very powerful PC it would cost $2,000, I can't spend that much because I'm still in high school. even if I did that I would be broke.
Build one, it is not as complicated as it sounds. I built one at 12 after watching one youtube tutorial and it played games beautifully. If you need help as where to start in the pc building community feel free to shoot me a message
Austin Evans older videos and Linus tech tips are your friends also search up how to build a computer! I learned very quickly and it's really amazing all the customization you can do!
Building a Gaming PC, is the best way to go. You can buy the parts of ideal, either online or certain stores (Office Max for example) It's a cheaper alternative.
So, Alpha's price includes a Windows copy, right? It's bad. Why not to just put Steam OS and save extra money for a better GPU? Since we all know where to get Windows for free.
tesa mayonesa Windows 8 & 8.1 are both superior to Windows 7, and I had been using Windows 7 for 4 years before I finally switched to 8, just because the UI changed doesn't mean the whole OS is flawed, that being said, Valve is still working on Steam OS, but because Alienware wanted to release the Alpha earlier they went with the controller optimized version of Windows which in my opinion was the better choice since you still get the full Windows experience as opposed to the limited Steam OS capabilities, they went with the mobile GPU because they wanted a small form factor like you would find on a console, if they wanted to add a desktop version GPU they would've, Alienware doesn't really care about the price.
Dirt 3, Grid and F1 2014 are ok on PC. You'll mostly find multiplatform racing games like Need for Speed and The Crew on PC but I really don't care. Racing games aren't really system sellers to me. I just assumed you were referring to controller options.
eric jaramillo Fair enough man, I was not referring to controller options as I use a Dualshock 3 controller for my PC when playing games like gta sa and such :)
Awesome comparison! I'm still wondering which version to buy. It would be amazing if you managed to compare the i3, i5 and i7 version, showing the fps you get for each. Thanks!
Use some google. Compare results from i3, i5 and i7 haswell chips (which are the same as the refresh recently released, all the refresh did was shrink them to 14nm it didn't "magically boost performance" like all the sellouts at Toms, Anand and so forth are claiming). And you'll see that in Games other than heavily threaded ones like the Battlefield series (for instance) the Core i3 haswell is on par with it's "fully quad core" brother the i5, and even it's brother the i5 is barely (zero to barely a few fps difference....yay) slower than it's Quad Core + HyperThreaded brother, the i7. Basically if you're not playing games that use 6+ Cores you can get by on a little over 100$ Intel processor. Though for that same price you can get a FX 6300 that will rock those games designed for 2-4 cores/threads and those made for 6+ cores as hard as the i5 or i7 would without the bank dividing by zero.
"you always need to upgrade" Yup, this is a common myth most people do not realize when they look at PCs. A gaming pc at the price point of $340-$360 will last you 7+ years without upgrade. In terms of console, we normally upgrade when there is a release of a new console. You must be thinking how can a $360 PC not need upgrading. Well if you are smart enough to get better hardware that does not require you to upgrade constantly such as an example would be. Hmm I'm going for a GTX 260 (normally $20-30) This will run most modern games at medium settings, some high, this would be compared to PS3/360. The myth you are saying only applies to PC Enthusiast who crave for better graphics. If you instead went with the option of GTX 650 Ti ($60-80) that will play all modern games at 1080P High settings including 60+FPS (better than PS4/One) this will not require you to upgrade for another 10+years. Keep in mind, this graphics card was already in existence during PS3/360 mid life-span. If you'd like I can elaborate a PC build for such a price. Just keep in mind, try to build a PC your self and be smart about how you build it. Any gaming PC $400 or above means that you are adding personal taste to how you want your PC to be and is definitely an Optional preference
You can say anything, but i am not a rich man, more than $200 I spend (because there's alot of thing to do), need a couple of month to buy/upgrade console or pc...I don't have ps3 or ps4...but i like video game, and electronic stuff...
you dont need to constantly upgrade im visiting the folks this month and my 4+ year old gaming pc with the amd 7970 can run all my steam games just fine and star citzen well as well.
You really don't need to upgrade anything. As long as consoles keep holding holding back development in video game creation, PCs will always run at, at-least console settings in the same price range. (example: in 5 years the Alpha will still run the same or better on any multi-platform title that launches for PS4 or XB1). So there is no reason to upgrade, besides just wanting too. Which a lot of us PC enthusiast like to do. ^^
wtf. how many more vids are there going to be comparing a 550 to 900 dollar build to the ps4. let sony put 900 bucks worth of tech in the ps4 and see which one is better. un fucking real and isn't the power brick one of the biggest complaints on the xbox one... but I don't hear fan boys of this "console" bitchn, and he is wrong about the rendering. he says that the difference is that the alien run every game in 1080p but the ps4 doesn't...this is true but what he forgot to mention is why. yes the alien ware can run every game at 1080 but you will have to turn down just about every option, or get sub 30 fps at 1080p.. that is why some games don't run at 1080p on the ps4 is because the devs choose to draw the best middle they can. to get the best overall graphics with playability. bottom line is yes there will be some differences that will be in the favor of a pc. but again like I said. its over 150 to 500 bucks more. and you wont notice the difference at the lower of that range. I really just wish that the pc market and fans would just stay in their own yard.
thecomputerman100 yes I understand as does most everyone that buys a console, that they are not getting better overall gaming play when it's VS a 1500 pc. but not everyone has 1500 at one time to buy that pc, and more over the extra cost and knowledge to maintain that pc. when you are knowledgeable about something one tends to forget or look down on those who don't understand it. and the fact is that 75 to 80% of all Americans don't understand or have the knowledge to build and maintain a gaming pc. and so the consoles are cheaper and kinda dummy proof way of playing AAA titles. I mean its really just plug and play for 350 to 400 bucks. and to the average person. the graphics they get and overall experience they get for that money is good enough. my issue is not that the pc isn't stonger. I know it is. my issue is that why compare something that is far better to something isn't. not really a fair fight , hell it doesn't even make for an interesting fight. that is what I wish would stop.... if pc gamers want to brag then brag on other weaker pc set ups. clown the 750 or the i3 or compare solid state to reg drives... just stop trying to prove your better than a console.... we know with 1500 bucks spent you will be better... nuff said
Gt Madden asifur rahman Uh, there's plenty of TH-cam videos online that show you how to maintain a computer. It's not rocket science. And you can build a computer that will play PC games wonderfully for the cost of a PS4. I'm sorry, your point is invalid.
roman dulce running on medium is still an option if the games get too intense for it . Then if you want you can go to low later on. Most PC gamers want to max everything out , but its not necessary sometimes . I've noticed the difference between the game settings are not as drastic as they once were. Also, the consoles seem pretty maxed out as they are so I doubt game graphics will change much in 3 years since consoles still dictate visuals. I will admit, I tend to want to max everything even when I don't know what a certain setting does. It's a habit I'm trying to get out of
roman dulce You buy a new one just like with the ps4 > ps5. The difference is you can play your old games on your new steam machine but not on your ps5.
Hello Drunk ps5 will be out in 5-6 years... Alpha will be old and slow in 1-1.5 years... While all the new games will be optimized for PS4/XONE first :)
playstation 4 is better. pay 350 euros and pay 500euros for cheapest steam machine and is worst then ps4 no thanks. Steam machines go from 500 to almost 800 euros and have lower or almost the same specs as a ps4 and xbox one.You also cant compare both hardwares because the consoles dont work in the same way as a pc. Compare both hardwares is just stupid. Why you will buy a thing 200 or 300 euros or dollars more expansive to play less games and for have litle more fps when you cant even say different from naked eye lmaoo.
+HéLio Rodrigues actually pc is the one with more games, by far... also i'm sorry that in your country it is more expensive, in the US these are both around 400 brand new, but everything varies country to country
+Richard Martinez It's irrelevant how many exclusives PC has because in fact most of them are indies which almost all of them are extremely niche AKA not for everyone, there are a lot of PS exclusives that make a PS 4 a great bonus for any gamer. I don't get all the rage going on with all these platform wars, any real game simply plays the games he/she likes on any platform they might be, why must it be one OR the other? I personally have a gaming PC which can play anything maxed out at 1440p which I use to play "all" multiplatforms, a PS 4 because it has extremely good and interesting exclusives (I have not owned a console since PS1 because I didn't see a need for a new console considering the small number of games I wanted from them so the 'negative' remaster term that people attempt to shame PS 4 with is actually a huge reason why it sold so much, for me and many others) and several New 3DS and N3DS XLs for Nintendo stuff since I'm a big Pokemon and Mario fan even now, I do not have an Xbox One because it's a terrible investment for me personally, a good number of its exclusives will come to PC and from the only 3 platform selling franchises I'm only interested in Forza, the other two I consider utter crap. A real gamer acting in the same way as most on such a subject would call everyone beggarmasterrace or something, because everyone focuses on one platform, can't afford / refuses to purchase others, misses out on excellent games, goes to sleep lying to themselves that all the games on any other other platform have to be crap because they don't own it, which is all very pathetic. Everyone acts like consoles are made to compete with PCs as if that's a real thing, when in fact they're just another gaming environment which comes with its very own games that can't be found elsewhere. The only thing most managed under this video is to expose a dramatic stupidity fueled by the media which makes crap news that attract the braindead masses like graphics comparisons for multiplatforms where PCs always win and then both platform exclusive sides start barking at each other trying to justiffy their platform as if that has anything to do with what's really important, exclusivity and commodity both subjective and both are not always the same for everyone. As for the video itself, this particular Steam Machine is crap, you can do slightly better with that money on your own and those that really are good come with a premium which also makes them irrelevant due to the lower price of making a similar PC on your own.
OneKing AJ the i3 is a waste of money , i just bought one of these things practically brand new and the chick who sold it told me it had an i7 processor and i just found out that it's just the i3 . sooooo pissed off , it lags terribly honestly and im like 99% sure this video is a scam as well because no games has ever ran anything close to smooth on this thing
+Night Guy Konoha I think you meant to imply that PC doesn't have it, Steam machines are pretty much just a lower level of PC. Also, Playstation users don't have any Fireaxis games, any Arma games, no good Valve ports, nor do they have the incredibly large library of simulators and an infinite library of indie games to choose from.
***** The PS4 by no means already has any sort of emulator in it. The PS4 doesn't even emulate at all, it streams old games, that you wouldn't otherwise be able to play from a disc on a PS4, from Sony's servers. Not only that, but streaming old Playstation games is highly limited by your bandwidth. It's like streaming a TH-cam video, except at a set resolution, more data is flowing, and you are also using your upload speed.
***** My first experience with past generation games on the PS4 consisted of streaming. Correct me if I am completely wrong, but last time I checked, that is called Playstation Now. Playstation Now allows users to stream, not only PS3 games, but also PS2 games and PSX games. Getting the wrong message by no means makes me clueless, as I could have easily understood if you had elaborated to start with.
+Zackery Glow this is a flawed test. He used high settings and used an overpriced piece of shit. Ps4 is better then alienware but if you know how to build a pc for a better price then pc is better
Do you enable hyperthreading on the core i3? I know hyperthreading is about 1/3 the speed of an actual core. I really wonder how much of a difference the corei5 version is
To all the people wondering why anyone would get this, good luck getting something that games in a form-factor like this without spending a ton of money. Closest I can think of is the Gigabyte Brix 760 which is stupid expensive and the RVZ02/ML08 case that is substantially bigger than this. I think this is one of the decent products from Alienware considering it's niche.
it's a decent attempt at console like gaming on a pc I'd say in about 2-3 years there may be an actual market for this product but otherwise not necessary right now, just like USB C
I will just shut down the haters. 2-3 months after a game comes out its $15-20 on PC. On console they try and milk every bit of money out of it and games stay a $40-55 for up to a year. You can also use a PS4 or xbox one controller with a PC. Also this is a PC you can use it a a media center or a home PC. Why anyone would buy a console over this is beyond me. Native 1080P not some 800P crap. 60FPS VS 30FPS. Do your home work people. Do not just jump on consoles and hate on PC gaming. Its not that much more money in the end.
It's because consoles are much more simple for the average consumer. It's the reason (well one of the many reasons) the steam machines didn't sell well, it was too damn confusing for a console gamer that just plugged in their console and played to understand the difference between a ZOTAC steam machine and an Alienware.
I built my pc for gaming 2 years ago spending most of my money on the GPU (gtx 780 used for 350, then I used his warranty to get a new card). I spent the least possible on the rest, buying a used 2500k for only 130 and spending the least possible on everything else, using old hard drives from other computers for hdd and a 40 gb ssd from my old laptop for the OS. All in all I spent around 700 and have a beast that can max any game out there with great fps.
I have alienware alpha and xbox one... to me they are both great consoles. Im sure the ps4 is great too. I pretty much use the alpha for steam games mostly... thats what makes it so cool. As great as ps4 & xbox one are, they do not have steam.
This is the best comparison vid of the two console (well one of them isn't a native) He tells you the fps and graphics Most of the others use the native settings on the alienware alpha (I will call it AA) but this guy has pushed the AA to its full potential
hye admin. how much price for alienware alpha? keyboard and mouse can be used in alienware alpha? i prefer using keyboard and mouse for FPS game for better control
I think that the Alpha is a very genuine system. The Ps4 is a power horse itself. I think that they both have potential and there are pros and cons, to both.respectively. It is stupid to argue about frame rate, really. You wouldn't know what the rate is without being told or having some gadget read it for you. As long as the game doesn't lag, bugs or glitches its pointless to argue. The Alpha is a good investment because the deals on Steam are irresistible at times thus paying for itself .Consoles can't match those prices on steam. Next gen consoles are nice because of Exclusive content. PS4 also has this PS now (stream online play)which will be subscription based, I don't see how xb1 will keep up with this. And who gives a rats if you can get a better build than the Alpha? The point is for you to buy it and plug. Not everyone cares to waste time to build a PC. Even if you build a better rig than next gen, that doesn't guarantee you will play a game released 5 years from know, without needing upgrades and more upgrades for that upgrade and etc.
I'm getting a Alienware alpha and honestly if you don't want to go into the hassle of building one its still really good, you can also upgrade parts in the future
build it yourself, look up tutorials on youtube, theres plenty of help online... the alpha will always be limited by its small space, as with a tower the possibilities are pretty much endless
If you want to stay cheap and don't feel like learninng all the computer stuff needed to build one, it's a damn good deal. Just don't expect it to be amazing forever.
It's not a good deal. It's a rip off. The Gtx 860m is a mid level laptop gaming GPU. Here is a much better build: (i3-6100, 1151 mobo, 8GB DDR4, > 300 watt PSU, Case, GTX 1050) = $370
I don't get why they had to go with the laptop form factor. It would have been such een gaming beast if they went with the ps4 form factor, then they could have clocked the cpu/gpu faster. And maybe even added a desktop gpu instead of m.
+PC MASTER RACE 15 years ago nobody would have thought mobile phones would be in colour let alone be like a miniature laptop/tablet in the Palm of your hand . Tech has evolved so far , It will happen
When I saw the comparison. I saw that the Alienware has more contrast in the colors that brings out more details. Like you said, this is due to AlienWare right off the bat rendering in 1080P High Definition. giving the colors and picture a better looking photoshop like upgrade. However, I only saw that difference in CoD Advance warefare Other then that, I see the both look the same. And PS4 has a wide screen view. In the end, both are better looking then XB1 (Fact!)
"They're both running high quality hardware" *PS4 uses AMD 8 core @ 1.6GHz* *AlienWare using i3 and 4GB ram* you fucking high or something m8? Though it's sad to see the PS4 can only perform as well as a gimped PC from a shitty company
People seem to forget that this is essentially a desktop, and for a couple hundred more than the ps4 and XboxOne you are getting windows. If you just want to game and have a limited budget, get a console. If you want to game but also need a desktop, buy an Alpha and a wireless keyboard and mouse and i doubt you'd regret it. Also, Alienware has a really talented design team, the Alpha is genius.
I think I read on the Dell website that the max ram on the Alpha is 16 gigs. You had mentioned you could upgrade to 32 gigs, you may want to check on that to see if it is accurate.
If just compare only about Specs and price (PS4 can be buy at 250$ to 350$), PS4 is better with better optimized games. I only said optimized on consoles is better not say about graphic visual comparison. Also at this time, PS4 still deliver better exclusives (in my opinion) if you want to play some action adventures games such as Uncharted series, TLOU, or God of War series. Plus there are many other kind of games such as tearaway unfolded, dreams, driveclub, The Last Guardian and some big exclusive JRPG/ action such as Gravity Rush 2, Persona series.. PC is good but for me, PC is the only place I use for works and Action RPG such as Mass Effect, Skyrim, DAI, TW3, etc.
If you guys couldnt seen the difference in the start of the video (i can tell), then look at the BF4 5:11 that is a very clear difference. alpha looks better. although i have ps4 and gaming pc with 2 gaming laptops. idc just pointing out which one is better
Brace yourself for the 'PC master race' comments
Joe Barry I am PC master race (4 Alienware Alpha RAID) -( 16 cores overclocked @3.5Ghz, 32GB RAM DDR5, 8 TB)
TheBurningRebel look out we got a badass over here
Brett Bates *Sarcasm Detector clearly broken
Brett Bates Haha, I actually thought he was serious until I saw the DDR5 component.
Edit: DDR5 exists; I fail.
TheBurningRebel lol
Dat silky smooth cinematic 30 FPS doe
24fps dude ;)
WalkableBuffalo If I had a solid 30 to 60 you wouldn't be able to tell
***** I can definitely tell between 30 and 60, easily
***** Its really not that hard Jon.
WalkableBuffalo yeh its a big dip in move munt in game
Oh wait.
Shenmue 3? Yeah, they can do that comparison. It's going to be on PC as well.
+eddrush209mph yeah... just like batman arkam knight... oh wait...
+caos024 fanboy = someone who has a both consoles and a PC? sure makes sense.
www.gamespot.com/forums/pc-mac-linux-society-1000004/big-pc-exclusives-of-2015-2016-2017-new-31154099/
PC has great games and overall just more possibilities. I do not know why you get crazy about this stuff (maybe a fanboy yourself?) but you wouldn't say a Mustang is faster than a Lamborghini, yet you can have fun with both. the Lamborghini is just way more expensive, so it makes sense that it is so much faster.
great games
huge community
way cheaper games
modding (just look at the hd enhancement mod for battlefront)
alpha (real alpha, with community input and real changes)
I don't know why people won't realize that PC is better.
this does no mean that you can't have fun with consoles, it just means that the PC is overall way ahead.
and please just stop with the budget argument, if you want cheap buy a coloring book.
Agreed.
+SongJiangShiJin Well said!
+Josep! It would be easier for me to look for a good bargain if I knew from which country you are from.
Located in the U.S.
Honestly, what's the difference? Both have outstanding graphics and whatnot, but at the end of the day, all that matters is the games, and that's the most important part; especially IF you are a gamer.
Well they can both play different games, and the alienware is basically a PC as well, with modding and everything else supported.
chrisshorenumber1 i don't think the alien ware console supports mods.
Finally XD i do not see anything but kids saying "duh, u will need an upgreid 2 yirz fron nau, so fuck u!!", seems like no one really understand that consoles and Gaming Pc's are for the games, and for fun, not for the graphics or the price of the machine
gamer hub Why couldn't you? Just use the desktop mode to install everything, then I see no reason it wouldn't work in big picture (console) mode.
gamer hub They do support mods because it has PC function.
Nope. Alienware Alpha loses indefinitely. Because its not a true console but a PC and a very gimped one at that.
xxjermxx70
well no The Alpha wins, and you save money with the PC, there a bigger upfront cost but then you save money on cheap games no subscription to play online etc, where you gotta pay monthly yearly or what not to even use multiplayer and then the console games are like £50 each and then you got windows so you can do work on there make videos edit videos and what not on PC, sorry if you don't like the truth but there it is
unknownsniper23 Nope, at least with consoles you get exclusives and with PC you get full customization... with the Alpha you get NOTHING!
The ps4 has more details in the mountains.
I agree 👍
I dont think so. I clearly saw blurrier textures on the PS4 version.
Rashad Carter Those were 100% more detailed on the PS4. I don't think TH-cam compression has anything to do with that.
***** PC was clearer, by far. Where you can see individual bushes and trees on the horizon of the mountain on the PC, the ps4 couldn't render it and it just looked cloudy
Textures on the gun and gloves definitely go to PC as well
I love how everyone is agreeing with you even you never mentioned what game you were talking about! Lmao!!! Wtf! Someone pinch me please? Please? O.o
I hope they update this with at least a 2Tflop GPU soon. It would make me feel more comfortable about it's longevity over a few years since the GPU is soldered in. A bit more of a lead over the consoles would make me feel more comfortable.
he is useing the loest end alpha if he would have got one of the higher end alphas it does have a better gpu
shane neyome No it doesn't. The CPUs are the upgrade, they all have the same 860M GPU on the high end Alphas. Check their website.
+tipoomaster consoles will always be behind this...
***** Not the point. I just want this with a bit more headroom over them for the coming years when devs will optimize less for this chip when it's old. Especially as the GPU is soldered in.
tipoomaster but optimization is very easy already as these are x86 PCs.
Why tf would you want a Alienware alpha of you could build a beast ass PC?
exactly
+Dr Mc Gommery you can build a micro tower, still slightly bigger and more expensive but probably 2-4 times more powerful depending on build/budget
Doesn't matter to me personally. Anything innovative is good in my eyes. More competition in games and technology.
+Crackhead jack because of price $$$. and convince. my pc kicks that things ass i built it on a budget but still spent almost $900..
I've been a long time ps3 gamer but consoles are gonna get left in the dust by PCs, consoles will always be around, but never as good as an Alienware
false. Sony doesn't charge to play online
Bathing African have u ever owed a ps4??? If no please don't comment. U NEED TO PAY FOR ONLINE GAMING ON PS4!!!!
@@BathingAfrican u fucking dumb sony fanboy defending bullshit lies about sony
@@BathingAfrican bro why u lying, wouldn't u rather tell the truth so other uninformed people will know what they are signing up for when purchasing a Playstation 4 with the intent to play online.
Tired of seeing Pcmasterrace or consolemasterace. Cant we just like what we like ans stop saying one is better? Were all gamers just gaming.
+Eric Christy Im waiting for console users to realize PC IS more powerful.... And PC user to stop thinking everyone gives a fuck about the power of the device they use.
***** But my point still stands. Its cheaper and lasts a bit longer so they don't care that the PC is more powerful.
The alpha also shows the ability to handle more objects in the frame at one time
But the ps4 can render animated textures, and operate them much better. Both of them have faults, but they both make up for it in their own aspects.
Should have had a FPS monitor on for this one, especially as this is a 30fps video.
Tbf, I know this is late, but no developers are actually OPTIMISING for the alienware alpha
Pathetic.
+Mantenner well said man
bruhh if you build a custom pc with those specs you can do it at a much cheaper price alienware is a bit overpriced.....
delveer singh completely agree, if you want to game on a console, buy a console. If PC gaming is more your piece of cake, build a proper gaming pc. The in-between, is not what a gamer wants or needs.
+Mantenner yeah i most agree plus some of us just dont wanna build a pc cuz of the hassle
+Mantenner The most important thing is the skills not the platform the platforms are just for bragging rights

This was actually an immensely helpful video, actually helped me decide to get an Alpha rather than bother building my own.
whats up with these lies you have? on Alienwares youtube they played battlefield 4 and cod Aw and they couldn't keep it between 50-60fps and they were using the I-5 configuration of the alpha

I really believe the steam machines may take off in the next couple of years and I hope they stir things up a little in the console market!
well u just wasted ur money u could have gotten an high end pc for that money
Have fun when the system drops dead after the warranty expires and Dell gives you the finger.
Nice so all of you would rather pay $400 dollars more for slightly better graphics.
+TheCatOnWallStreet not only graphics but frame rate (fps) as well.
+TheCatOnWallStreet And free online and cheaper games, the alpha is much better
3:51 u can see the difference on the rock , which one look sharp on that edge of the rock ??
is such a small difference even worth arguing over? even these PC/Xbone/PS4 debates are so stupid, it's not like any of the systems have a huge advantage. I'd see the point if there was a huge difference... for example; the difference between a sega megadrive's graphics to the xbox 360's graphics. I think I'll wait another 10 years before I care.
For PC gamers yeah.
Yeah 'cause I forgot they have better vision. The game is playable either way, it just makes you a snob to think otherwise.
+Rejectivez it matters to me because having played pc games for decades its hard for me to play console games. the low render resolution ends up distracting me as i notice it too easily.
besides that yes pc gaming does have a large advantage though this review wasnt about that. they compared a alienware alpha at $449 to a ps4 at $399 which makes them price competitive with each other.
actually PC will always have the advantage but i have fun on console too
+Aaron Martinez yeah right bro
ps4 won if you consider the price difference ^^
***** You mean price difference of the games, accessories and online service? 'cause the winner then is the one that is a PC...
Pladson Rodrigues
pc has no game of the year exclusives such as journey uncharted and the last of us
***** You have to add in $60 for the year of online, and that's the minimum price.
*****
PS4 has journey and Uncharted? Or is it one of those remaster deals where you have to buy the same game again?
***** PC has the laregest library of free to play games, free indie games, and steam has exclusives everyday... and websites like G2A to get steam keys cheaper on top of that and you never pay for a subscription.... give me $500 I can build you a console crusher.. That has freedom and is not limited to just gaming... But hey, console is simple right?
The farcry 4 comparision isn't really a comparison since the graphic options are picked very differently on both systems. the ps4 had a higher lod on textures far away while the alienware pc had bette texture quality near to the player but worse lod. You can see a good example at 3:36 the mountain in the background left to the tower looks much better on the ps4 but the rocks on the right very close to the camera look better on the pc.
but will it run Uncharted 4 or DriveClub ? o.O
Drive Club and Uncharted 4 are PS4 exclusives :D
***** Wrong, it tripled the sales of Horizon 2. It's a good game.
***** That doesn't mean that the definition of Free Roam and Open World should be ignored.
the only reason I didn't buy a PC is because I don't have the money to buy a very good PC that cost $2,000. don't say you can get a good PC for $500.
Better yet, go to a electronics store near you and buy the parts there.
knowing me I would screw up something and break the PC even building it.
What is the thing that is rotating the consoles called?
I really want a pc but I just want it for gaming and with some kick ass graphics any one know a good one
Build one
Build one, it is not as complicated as it sounds. I built one at 12 after watching one youtube tutorial and it played games beautifully. If you need help as where to start in the pc building community feel free to shoot me a message
Austin Evans older videos and Linus tech tips are your friends also search up how to build a computer! I learned very quickly and it's really amazing all the customization you can do!
Building a Gaming PC, is the best way to go. You can buy the parts of ideal, either online or certain stores (Office Max for example) It's a cheaper alternative.
what is your budget?
So, Alpha's price includes a Windows copy, right? It's bad. Why not to just put Steam OS and save extra money for a better GPU? Since we all know where to get Windows for free.
Because most Steam games need Windows.
marlon alston Seems like you didn't read my comment to the end.
Free Windows 8.1???? Not everybody knows where to get that download free, also everything that's free isn't always good for your computer.
Who needs Windows 8 or 8.1. Both are shit. Just torrent a Windows 7, not even cracked one.
tesa mayonesa Windows 8 & 8.1 are both superior to Windows 7, and I had been using Windows 7 for 4 years before I finally switched to 8, just because the UI changed doesn't mean the whole OS is flawed, that being said, Valve is still working on Steam OS, but because Alienware wanted to release the Alpha earlier they went with the controller optimized version of Windows which in my opinion was the better choice since you still get the full Windows experience as opposed to the limited Steam OS capabilities, they went with the mobile GPU because they wanted a small form factor like you would find on a console, if they wanted to add a desktop version GPU they would've, Alienware doesn't really care about the price.
Finally, after three minutes he show us the comparison.
FPS Games: PC > PS4
Racing Games: PS4 > PC
And I like racing games rather than fps games, so I went with the PS4 :)
Just use a controller on your PC. Mouse and Keyboard aren't that great for racing games.
eric jaramillo Find a good racing sim for PC, like Forza og Gran Turismo.
Mikkel Ljungberg Forza isn't for PS4...there are so many more realistic racing sims on PC. I don't even know why I fell for the trollbait.
Awesome comparison! I'm still wondering which version to buy. It would be amazing if you managed to compare the i3, i5 and i7 version, showing the fps you get for each. Thanks!
Might as well go with the high-end since the GPU can't be upgraded.
That does not make sense, since the CPU can be updated you should probably go for the i3.
Luis Henrique T. Caetano But if the GPU can't be upgraded then there is no point of this console in general.
Though for that same price you can get a FX 6300 that will rock those games designed for 2-4 cores/threads and those made for 6+ cores as hard as the i5 or i7 would without the bank dividing by zero.
what game is he playing at 4:53?
I know what's better graphics then both of them
real life
how the heck is an i3 running this?
It's hyperthreaded meaning it acts like a quad core even though it's not.
How the hell is s ps4 running this with a processor that's so outdated that they had it a decade ago with the max ghz of 1.2ghz
Yodahmoda the ps4 has eight cores dude. who cares if its old it matters on the processor power
Yodahmoda Its actually 1.8 ghz and has 8 cores.
SuperCoon88 i have a quad core i3 at 3.6 gigahertz and minecraft gets like 30 fps
why are frames not being constantly shown/ Avg frame rate for each test
Ye you can upgrade it and waste more money??? Just get a ps4 or a real pc not a crossbreed
Mmm...yup PC is way ahead than console...but disadvantages you always need to upgrade it...
darkheat246 ok thx man...I thought with upgrade it will make my computer work smoothly...so i constantly upgrade it...
how about vs PS4 Pro with 4k ;)
GameAndElse it's simulated 4k not true 4k...
Aroxar NO games are in native 4k they are just upscaled....
Id rather just build my own PC!
cba
wtf. how many more vids are there going to be comparing a 550 to 900 dollar build to the ps4. let sony put 900 bucks worth of tech in the ps4 and see which one is better. un fucking real and isn't the power brick one of the biggest complaints on the xbox one... but I don't hear fan boys of this "console" bitchn, and he is wrong about the rendering. he says that the difference is that the alien run every game in 1080p but the ps4 doesn't...this is true but what he forgot to mention is why. yes the alien ware can run every game at 1080 but you will have to turn down just about every option, or get sub 30 fps at 1080p.. that is why some games don't run at 1080p on the ps4 is because the devs choose to draw the best middle they can. to get the best overall graphics with playability. bottom line is yes there will be some differences that will be in the favor of a pc. but again like I said. its over 150 to 500 bucks more. and you wont notice the difference at the lower of that range. I really just wish that the pc market and fans would just stay in their own yard.
Gt Madden Either way you're turning down quality. Solution? Buy a $1500 gaming PC ^.^
thecomputerman100 yes I understand as does most everyone that buys a console, that they are not getting better overall gaming play when it's VS a 1500 pc. but not everyone has 1500 at one time to buy that pc, and more over the extra cost and knowledge to maintain that pc. when you are knowledgeable about something one tends to forget or look down on those who don't understand it. and the fact is that 75 to 80% of all Americans don't understand or have the knowledge to build and maintain a gaming pc. and so the consoles are cheaper and kinda dummy proof way of playing AAA titles. I mean its really just plug and play for 350 to 400 bucks. and to the average person. the graphics they get and overall experience they get for that money is good enough. my issue is not that the pc isn't stonger. I know it is. my issue is that why compare something that is far better to something isn't. not really a fair fight , hell it doesn't even make for an interesting fight. that is what I wish would stop.... if pc gamers want to brag then brag on other weaker pc set ups. clown the 750 or the i3 or compare solid state to reg drives... just stop trying to prove your better than a console.... we know with 1500 bucks spent you will be better... nuff said
Very well said..
Those master race shithead must get their fact straight
Gt Madden asifur rahman Uh, there's plenty of TH-cam videos online that show you how to maintain a computer. It's not rocket science. And you can build a computer that will play PC games wonderfully for the cost of a PS4. I'm sorry, your point is invalid.
Gt MaddenIn the uk the ps4 and the alienware Alpha are rougthly the same price
Yes, you can compare this Alienware and ps4 with modern games now... But what about in 2-3 years from now games ? If u know what i mean...
roman dulce you can just upgrade it
u cant change the gpu in alpha :\
roman dulce running on medium is still an option if the games get too intense for it .
Bro the alpha is way better also because you just get the i7 lol
All of the specs are better in the i7
Because it costs 1000 dollars and the point of this video is to compare a pc with a price similar to the ps4
IamSalimas R E A L L Y :') i paid her $567
ps4 looks so dim and dark
the alpha looks brighter.
alienware does not have uncharted series :p
+Night Guy Konoha I think you meant to imply that PC doesn't have it, Steam machines are pretty much just a lower level of PC. Also, Playstation users don't have any Fireaxis games, any Arma games, no good Valve ports, nor do they have the incredibly large library of simulators and an infinite library of indie games to choose from.
+Abel Graham To add to your comment-
PCs will also run Emulators of older consoles ironically which even the latest gen consoles struggle to do :D
*****
The PS4 by no means already has any sort of emulator in it.
*****
Cite your sources if you are so confident.
I have owned a PS4, and I have streamed past generation games.
*****
My first experience with past generation games on the PS4 consisted of streaming.
Correct me if I am completely wrong, but last time I checked, that is called Playstation Now. Playstation Now allows users to stream, not only PS3 games, but also PS2 games and PSX games.
Getting the wrong message by no means makes me clueless, as I could have easily understood if you had elaborated to start with.
alienware
xbox
wii u
wii
3Ds
ps4
truth
Stop talking to yourself
Ethan Joe I would toss Alienware in with the medium gaming PC. IMO anyways.
I'm sorry who's system had to cut back on pricing just if outsell the ps4 and wii u? Hmm that's right it's your xbox one
To*
gantt cass He doesn't even have Xbox One on the list. Only the original Xbox.
Damn this little black box of joy is a BEAST! Now i really want one
lmao. that shit looks about the same. keep that alien trash. PS for life!
I see barely a difference
+Zackery Glow Don't listen to him, he's a fanboy
+Zackery Glow this is a flawed test. He used high settings and used an overpriced piece of shit. Ps4 is better then alienware but if you know how to build a pc for a better price then pc is better
If they both look the same and proceed to call the Alienware trash then doesn't that make the ps4 trash too?
+CaliiBer_ Plus the water on Ps4 looks like sludgy sewer shit.
ps4 the Best
Just shh
no dude just no you have bad taste of gaming or your just blind
xXD3LTaGaM3RPVTXx who are you talking to?
For a hobby I like to put together computers but for the price the alien ware looks attractive.
I think this is one of the decent products from Alienware considering it's niche.
it's a decent attempt at console like gaming on a pc
I'd say in about 2-3 years there may be an actual market for this product but otherwise not necessary right now, just like USB C
+Cory Weier type c is going to be the industry standard and will replace micro usb
already have a console like atmosphere by streaming my PC to my Nvidia shield TV bam playing in my living room with a controller
As great as ps4 & xbox one are, they do not have steam.
can i upgrade the hard drive? and the ram? and which ram do you recommend? 8 or 16gb can u link it? pleaase i might buy the alienware
What's the game at 2:00?
What is the 1st game you played
Not far cry before that
This is the best comparison vid of the two console (well one of them isn't a native)
He tells you the fps and graphics
Most of the others use the native settings on the alienware alpha (I will call it AA) but this guy has pushed the AA to its full potential
hye admin.
how much price for alienware alpha?
keyboard and mouse can be used in alienware alpha? i prefer using keyboard and mouse for FPS game for better control
GJ with the reviews MW Technology :)
Keep up the good work :)
I am mesmerizing at the blue tall Gypsy Danger behind this man for approx.10s !
5:18 ps4 shows more aliasing on the wires than the alpha.
They both look pretty damn good to me!
Can you swap the cpu out at a later date?
So what would you recommend ?
PS4, Xbox, Alienware Alpha oR CyberPowerPC Steam..
Can i play windows 8 on the Alpha and make games running from windows?
I need a 90° rotation of the display
what is the game, you were playing first on the television?
Which alpha is he using? Is it the one that cost around $500?
Im planning on switching from Xbox one to PC. Would you recomend the Alienware alpha? or would it be better to build a pc myself.
***** you forgot the hard drive, and OS, and peripherals. You can get an alpha on ebay used for $250
"Persona 5 not on Alpha" This is a statement quoted from Aigis
I don't get why they had to go with the laptop form factor. It would have been such een gaming beast if they went with the ps4 form factor, then they could have clocked the cpu/gpu faster. And maybe even added a desktop gpu instead of m.
The Alienware Alpha is basically a gaming laptop without a built in keyboard or screen
Other than upgrading the RAM on it what will I want to add to my Alienware Alpha to make it run smoother and have higher frame rates?
I predict next gen consoles all playing at 4K , that would be awesome
+PC MASTER RACE 15 years ago nobody would have thought mobile phones would be in colour let alone be like a miniature laptop/tablet in the Palm of your hand . Tech has evolved so far , It will happen
have to admit the alpha does look pretty good in graphics
When I saw the comparison. I saw that the Alienware has more contrast in the colors that brings out more details. Like you said, this is due to AlienWare right off the bat rendering in 1080P High Definition. giving the colors and picture a better looking photoshop like upgrade. However, I only saw that difference in CoD Advance warefare Other then that, I see the both look the same. And PS4 has a wide screen view. In the end, both are better looking then XB1 (Fact!)
"They're both running high quality hardware"
*PS4 uses AMD 8 core @ 1.6GHz*
*AlienWare using i3 and 4GB ram*
you fucking high or something m8?
Though it's sad to see the PS4 can only perform as well as a gimped PC from a shitty company
Nacalal Lol, that 8 core and processor is a piece of shit compared to the i3 that alienware use; don't be so fucking ignorant.
adil m
that i3 is a bottom of the barrel intel and equally shit as the AMD

*He thinks the i3 is a good CPU*
I bet you actually buy alienware's garbage
how is the fan? is it loud or quiet??
What games? who's software does it play.....
I have a question, is the footage of the alienware alpha quality test from the i3 one or a different one?
I think I read on the Dell website that the max ram on the Alpha is 16 gigs. You had mentioned you could upgrade to 32 gigs, you may want to check on that to see if it is accurate.
I have a question can i take the graphics card and cpu in the ps4 and put it inside a pc so i can play dayz ?
WHAT VIDEO EDITOR DO YOU USE?
If just compare only about Specs and price (PS4 can be buy at 250$ to 350$), PS4 is better with better optimized games. I only said optimized on consoles is better not say about graphic visual comparison.
Also at this time, PS4 still deliver better exclusives (in my opinion) if you want to play some action adventures games such as Uncharted series, TLOU, or God of War series. Plus there are many other kind of games such as tearaway unfolded, dreams, driveclub, The Last Guardian and some big exclusive JRPG/ action such as Gravity Rush 2, Persona series..
PC is good but for me, PC is the only place I use for works and Action RPG such as Mass Effect, Skyrim, DAI, TW3, etc.
if u had to choose ps4 or alienware alpha?
thanks for the comparison very helpful
Would have been nice to kno the price comparison at the time of the test. Is a smoother framerate worth 300bux?? (Or whatever the difference is
how do you find games for Alienware?
If you guys couldnt seen the difference in the start of the video (i can tell), then look at the BF4 5:11 that is a very clear difference. alpha looks better.
although i have ps4 and gaming pc with 2 gaming laptops. idc just pointing out which one is better
