Spiked Mace Entertainment Yes, I know. Imagine living in an era where speech like this was common? Today we live in an era where people think tryna and shoulda are correct speech. sigh...I love this speech too. It's comforting to me somehow.
@@falcoreluckdragon9472 I honestly think that's because Lovecraft lacked the knowledge of natural dialog between people, himself being a xenophobic shut-in most likely bereft or deprived of the level of person to person interaction most experience.
Far to ahead of his time sadly. It's really quite sad to me that within his lifetime Lovecraft never got to see a published volume of his own stories, only small publications in dime store pulp magazines.
This is just a BEAUTIFUL reading! Your voice, tone and inflections are perfect. It's works of this caliber that make me wish I had someone to share it with, but everyone I know is an uncultured idiot, so I am unable to relive the joy of these discoveries through their experiences. It's sad. Thank you anyway! Your work is a testament. Howard would be proud!
You got a bit of a disingenuous response from the uploader there (including as it does, a pretty significant lie of omission), but this was recorded decades ago and the narrator is Gordon Gould. He's my single favourite reader of HPL, with Conrad Feiniger a close second. Both are featured on this channel. And don't feel bad about being surrounded by philistines, you're not the only one!
if yall like that, listen to his book Within the Walls of Eryx. It is also on youtube... in the beginning portion, he speaks of a plant that causes euphoria and time distortion as well as mild hallucinations and panic. After escaping the effects of the flower, he looks at his watch and sees that though it seemed like a great time had transpired, it was only 4:20 lol. I swear.
Crawford Tillinghast sounded like he hit the hygiene skids on one helluva bender. Such is the unwinding life of a crazed fanatic, who has become impervious to any feedback on the contrary. Muttering fiend.
The film based on this story is probably my favorite movie based on HPLs work. Reanimator is a close second, but the comedic undertones kind of bring it down a bit.
I've read half of this genius' work. I wish I had the time to go on a Lovecraft readathon but people keep interrupting me just when I get immersed. Thank f*** for audio books.

This is my favorite Lovecraft short story and my favorite narrator for all things Lovecraft. I listen to this on a regular basis. 💚
I can’t believe this man made very little money. His stuff is so amazing.
He was just way, way ahead of his time.
He didnt have a little money when he died. He had nothing

This is my favorite of Lovecraft's works. Maybe even my favorite short story of all time.
I really like his reading of Lovecraft compared to some of the other audioreaders.
You should try Phillip Reynolds on TH-cam, he’s British and does a bunch of readings. One of my favorites
Dakota Kay sorry, it’s actually Phil Reynolds.
