- Hi guys, today on the channel I’m doing something really fun and I’m comparing the Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen and the Supergoop! Play Everyday Lotion. As you’ll know from previous videos, I used both sunscreens for about a month each. Over the course of their respective months, I’ve found pros and cons to the Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen and the Supergoop! Play Everyday Lotion sunscreens and why these sunscreens are great for dark skin. However, I know that when it comes to deciding which sunscreen is best, viewing them side by side is the most effective way to properly compare the two. I don’t know about you guys, but as a woman of color, my peers and I hardly used sunscreen (aside from parents making us) - prob bc of the white cast. I’m glad it’s being more talked about/used now esp w inclusive brands!
i agree with you 10000%! i don't think i used sunscreen until i was about 17/18 years old which is so wild looking back. even though there's still room for improvement, i love all the new sunscreen options there are available -- especially to people with darker complexions. thank you for stopping by 🤗🤗🤗
Loving this vid 😍. The play reminds me of the Riemann P20 FACE SPF 30. I don't see many reviews on it and it's super rich. I have oily skin and HATE oily products....but it's the first oily-ish sunscreen I've used for work daily with no issues... It's super cheap in comparison and easily accessible. And leaves no cast on my darker skin at all!

I really hate the smell of the Unseen Sunscreen. I think you're right, it smells like some kind of petrochemical. My guess is that it's the dimethicone and other silicones that create the "slip" feeling you described. Fortunately that smell dissipates as the sunscreen dries down. I don't mind the feel of it, I wear it fairly regularly. My go-to for most daytime wear is the Supergoop Play SPF 30. It sits a lot lighter on my skin, and I find that it's less sticky when it dries, though the dewy finish stays all day. If I'm going to be out in the sun for long periods I'll put on the Play SPF 50. Weirdly, the SPF 30 never makes my eyes sting, but the SPF 50 does. Anyway, thanks for your video! It was helpful, and I enjoyed your presentation style. :)
oh wow, it's really interesting that the play spf 30 and spf 50 seem to be quite different! i would've thought the formulas would be the same (despite the different spf number). that makes me want to try the play spf 30 because it sounds like it might be better for these heatwaves we've been having in the UK. which would you say is your favourite out of the unseen sunscreen and the play?

@@byalicexo My favorite is the Play SPF 30 most of the time. But during our recent heat wave (Seattle, where I live got up to 108F/42.2C, which was an all-time high), the Unseen held up better to the heat, by which I mean my sweat LOL. It didn't slide off my face as easily, where the Play got really sticky. I have long, straight hair so my only recourse against having it plastered to my face and neck was putting it up. The Play SPF 50 and SPF 30 do have slightly different formulations in terms of their UV filters. They both contain homosalate 10%, octisalate 5% and avobenzone 3%, but the SPF 50 also contains octocrylene at 7.5%. I guess that's what brings the formulation up to SPF 50.
My skin is oily and I use the play it’s super greasy but my skin always feels so supple 🤩

Have you tried it without moisturizer? Is there a difference in how greasy it is without it?
@@babytg93 I’ve tried it both ways and honestly if you continually rub it in over the course of an hour the oilyness subsides

aww thank you! yeah, sunscreens are quite tricky, aren't they? the lemon one is deffo my favourite though and omg the smell is really amazing -- i wish more sunscreens smelt like it hehe 🤗🤗🤗
I use the unseen one for my face and the play one for everyday sunscreen
I would use the Play in the winter and Unseen in the summer

i'm so glad you enjoyed the video!! i did try makeup on top of the sunscreens and found that my makeup wore nicely on the top. i still had issues with the texture of the unseen sunscreen on my skin, but the makeup looked really good on. i actually filmed a video so let me link it here: th-cam.com/video/4L_C08W6Uh8/w-d-xo.html 🥰🥰🥰

I think the Play had a higher PA rating anyway right? So better protection against UVA? Thanks for the video!
i'd need to double check the PA rating because i can't remember, but i definitely felt more protected wearing the play than the unseen. i'm glad you enjoyed the video! 🤗🤗🤗

they put it on as the last step in your skincare routine, so i would say yes to applying moisturiser first. but maybe try it without moisturiser and see which way feels better on your face. glad you enjoyed the video 🤗🤗
The play is WAY too greasy for me I had to return it
ah nooo! that sucks. do you have dry skin too? but yeah the play is deffo very oily (especially when it's super hot like it's been here in the UK these last couple of days)

It is very sunny in the UK,the sun sets by 8pm..Do you think one still need sunscreen while taking an evening walk at 7pm?

i know, right? especially compared to the unseen sunscreen hahahaha. personally i prefer the play everyday lotion because it feels nicer on the skin, but i wish it wasn't as oily all the time.
yeah i'd still wear sunscreen even if it later in the day, and sometimes i top up my sunscreen if i'm going out haven't already done in the day, just because the sun is still out so the uv rays can still affect you. and as for wearing sunscreen in doors, i always wear sunscreen inside because uv rays can still come through the window (and on the off change i find myself nipping outside quickly) i hope that helped :) 🤗🤗🤗

It makes me wonder if the sticky texture would be nice for under makeup? I can't decide which to buy!
ooh that's a good point. i think a stickier texture helps makeup last longer on the face, but i think it comes down to preference and what the product feels like on the face. i'm biased but i would go with the play (unless your skin gets super oily/you don't like the sweaty sunscreen look 😂😂) hope that helps 🤗🤗🤗
Trust me I swear the one from tacha it’s pricy BUT SOOO WORTH IT!!!! I would pay $100 for that sunscreen I will not hesitate ever to purchase it!

from what i've heard, the unseen sunscreen could be better suited for your skin type as it's a lot more matte.
and as for the music, it's called 'within reach' by always dreaming and it came with the editing software i was using at the time.
