  • Alrighty, so Timon and I need to get some samples of these Oats sent away for grading, so lets talk about that and how you sample a grain bag.

Tell you a story.........years ago my half brothers had finished wheat and brought a sample to Alberta Pool in Hardisty and manager graded it #3. So not being amused they drove up the road to Lougheed and went into Pioneer which graded it #2. Now there curiosity is up and they walked across the driveway to UGG which was needing grain to fill the elevator and they graded the sample #1. It pays to shop your grain around.

Your North farms so far are producing a lot more than the South farms.
Do you see down the road expanding the North operations and making it your primary operation.
The weather certainly for the last couple years has made it difficult for your main farms to make much in the way of profit it seems. Realizing the family dynamics of your operation, might be a difficult thing to do.

Don't think many people take out crop insurance. Farmers on the east coast were set for a bumper crop. I have never seen raging streams/creeks and rivers in all my time travelling as a livestock buyer as I have in the last month. The rain just did not stop and fields of wheat, conola, oats and barely we're drowned and the prospect of getting onto the fields in some areas would be months away.
