If a homeowner would have accidentally poisoned the trees in front of their home, the city would have levied a substantial fine, think thousands upon thousands of dollars. The question needs to be asked, what is happening to the employees and department responsible for this? The trees are dead, they are not coming back. 200 trees could surpass a monetary value of over a million dollars. Is the department's budget going to be cut to compensate for the removal of dead trees and the planting of large new trees? Will the employees be reprimanded and possibly terminated or is this just going to be another government entity that gets away with making disastrous mistakes and has zero accountability, but when the public makes a similar mistake, that same entity is anything but forgiving.
