The way you air over sections is very fresh and functional, I have'nt seen that before. The way you kicked out and then pumped out and met the next wave and seamlessly rode that one was terrific.
Foils are a little scary. I sand the tips dull on the my foils when new and if they get worn. Any minute loss in performance is less important than my skin and desire to prevent injury, and I’m tired of getting hurt. Some foils come sharp as a knife which seems unnecessarily dangerous. That spot looks epic for foiling.
Very nice video and love your contributions to water sports - but taking risks that you can ameliorate. I got a foil slice on the toe, then it got infected underneath. A real PIA to deal with despite so minor an injury... I now foil with helmet and booties despite loving the bare foot feel when windsurfing - and maybe a light vest is a good idea. Still can be quite stylish 😀. A Winger in the Gorge got a real bad foil stab in the leg and would have bled out without some guys fashioning a tourniquet and to his great luck a vascular surgeon was at Hood River Hospital as they do not have a Trauma Centre. Just some thoughts...
Just how sharp do your trailing edges need to be? Could a small sacrifice in performance make things a lot safer? Mine are dull and I don't notice anything except that they don't cut me easily. I wonder what others find.
As soon as it started I new exactly where you were. Good to see the water angle. Not much in the way of medical attention on that island. First time I saw it on google earth it must have 10 / 12 ft or somthing . It was flawless , non sectioning from the outside all the way to the beach.
Hey man, I race A Cats. Used to race foiling ones. A couple years bad, had a knarly pitch pole. Flew a little while still attached to the trapeze. Came to the end of the trap, stopped, hit the water. Came up with a broken thumb and a ring finger one knuckle shorter. I’m not pro, but I’m competitive in a couple of dinghy classes at a national level. What you gotta realize is you know the water and the craft you’ve learned everything on. The foil equipment is a different deal. You didn’t just have a fall on your board. You had a slow motorcycle accident, with the speeds you go.
Given who you are, and how many people watch you. Let them see you wearing the right gear. I know it’s a drag. But you get used to it quick. Love your content.
luckily there are effective scar creams. I can enjoy the skill and pleasure demonstrated without the life or death stuff, but I recognize how these young guys pay the bills. enjoyed the pleasurable presentation and hope the cut heals well
Sounds like Jack Johnson. Great Hawaiian surfer too! He's one of the local Crewe, but world famous singer / songwriter. He's well worth a look into, if you don't know him. Enjoy
Foil tomahawked me square on the dome awhile ago. Glad I had a helmet on. Got the vest with kevlar too. Product idea...light weight kevlar rash guards and skull caps. Make my gear dreams come true Kai! :) P.s. Best tunes to date.
Foil designers need to make safer tips on these foils. Its a matter of time before it doesn’t end well for someone. The guy in the gorge was lucky not to bleed out.
The incident Lenny happens at 5:05 I dunno, maybe leave the jumps and tricks to windsurfing? Foil jumps and flips don't even look so cool and they're way too dangerous with that sword attached to the board...
Hey it's not south LA you are talking about, but one more island in indo ( and a big one too....) I don't see the need for all that secrecy you are asking for...
@@ugocdf7706 Na its the whole surf vlggers most always just have to drop names of spots or islands etc. shits wack. Keep it roots. I live here in Indo and those spots that used to have hardly any bule there are becoming more busy with euro kooks who think they own the place. Surf world is becoming a joke.
The law of diminishing return - look it up. I appreciate you have sponsor commitments, but this foil surfing is pure bull. Admit it. You're a good surfer, great windsurfer/kite surfer- don't spread yourself too thin, Kai, it looks a bit desperate. Being selective demonstrates that you are thinking - you're not a zombie! Foiling ripples and getting slashed, that can't be the future.
Best videos and music choices always! Stay safe out there Legend✌️❤️
that was very nice music
The ocean will always remind you who's the real boss!

Very thankful you’re ok and it wasn’t worse. Geeesh! Scary stuff
Going to be a cool looking scar, girls will dig it!
I like how it goes straight to riding with no commentary and amazing shots.

light impact vest maybe?
and helmet with grille
These athletes think they are immortal, wearing impact vest and helmet is not so cool. God protects them.
I'm so happy you're ok! Damm..
Nevertheless, thanks for this video. It's always a plaiser to see you 💫

Can't really say leave it to the professionals 😂
That interview with Paul was epic 🫡
Best foiling I’ve seen
Gnarly slice tho!

The way hydrodynamics work, a slightly blunt foil edge should actually perform better, not worse. Curious why they sell them knife-edge sharp.
I was already thinking at 2:35, that looked like a bad one, straight to the foil. glad it didnt do more damage
I thought for sure this was going to be jt!
Gezzuz, if it happens to you then we're fkd...
Such a warrior though, right back out there!
Respect.

Care to let me know where it is
....one way or another without giving it away to the masses!
It does look really good indeed
Helmet? Foils are like riding a shark. Gotta watch out for those teeth! 🦈 🙏 🤠 🏄♂️ 🌊
What will that helmet help you when the foil goes for your jugular
@ferocious_r if you are unconscious, you're done.
@@andybowes5163 sure, and you do realize what happens when your jug gets cut, right?

Cold and wet here in Oregon! But I can turn to the Tube and check you all livin the life! Ha! Foil on Kai!
Hi Kai use a dyneema lycra.very efficient against foil cut . Light and soft in addition.
Totally worth it💯☝️🏄♂️
Where is that spot? Looks unreal. One more time.

Beautiful, it looks really fun. But, you KNOW, you wanna hit that lip and send spray up and all over and see a big slash carved out. Loved it.
So gnarly, glad it was where it was!
Красавчик ! Молодец )))
Talk to Florence Marine and get them to make you a Kevlar rash guard. This is why you should always wear a helmet folks.
We’ve truly gone full circle with the opening track…
It's driving me crazy! Who is singing the attached song? It's wonderful! Mahalo!
Sounds like Jack Johnson.

Soz, I'm talking about the opening tune...
The music info is posted up in the Summary "........more"

I love your videos
Kai Lenny you and Ridge have the True Brotherhood
Heart like a lion 🦁
Dang kai $lasher Lenny!
Wave Avenger!
Foil man!
I tell my friends it's like riding a surfboard on a machete with another machete underneath it
yuor videos are the best
I thought from the footage the foil would've sank before hitting you. I guess that's one good thing about riding heavy foils. Glad you're okay.👍🏼
Where is this Place ? 😍😍 Amazing Content Kai!
All the time and money to burn,,,,keep showing the fruits of your Labor.
Yikes, glad it wasn't worse.
That's one of the reasons I stay on fins.
Gong made some anti cut clothes! Not a bad idea.

Impact vest and a helmet next time.
If it was me I might use full hockey gear.
Aside from that Mrs Lincoln, how was the play?
We all have had gashes, cuts, ect so as you know wound care is what it's all about in healing. But all a side you were ripping it as usual !....LBCko

Yikes! Might need a neck guard (:>0)=/= !!!
Ouch!
where is this???
Wonderful!
Your wetsuit should have a little chest protection and also a partial collar that protects your neck. Be safe bro 🙏
This old surfer misses makaha and Honolulu bay maui..
Every foil session almost ends me!
👍🍺🏄🏼
Cash could teach you.
funny, I actually taught him how to foil 😂
Oh ok not nearly as bad as one article made it sound. On the neck that could get serious
