The drowning Himalayan rescued by BMW R 1200GS

  • To enjoy a post shower ride and shoot a slow-mo with the might GS - was the plan. But then, as we all know, shit happens! The not-so-mighty Himalayan's air filter soaked in water during the rivulet crossing, courtesy to the downward facing air box opening , which would have DEFINITELY left me stranded had the 125 BHP air-filter-dryer...lol were not there. I for sure would not dare to cross the river on the way back with the air filter removed.
    Hope you peeps enjoy the blooper vlog with all the sweets and spices :)
    TO LEARN - How to dry the air filter in 5 minutes ;)
    PS: Apologies for the shaky camera. I was tired and drenched.

    The only problem i see is not with the bike, its the rider. Offroading is not just riding a bike on harsh terrain. The bike is the muscle and you, the rider is the brain.
    Ps:- i owned RE Himalayan, BS 3 model, and i have been to a place much worse than this, and believe me, She has'nt let me down till today.
    RE HIMALAYAN ALL THE WAY 💪

    why are people complaining here? Its good to know that in deeper waters if the Himalayan stalls one needs to check the air filter. Quite informative. Most people cannot afford a GS. If you can afford a Himalayan, then you know what to expect when such things happen.

  • @madhav5955

    Just an advice about water wading and thin slush also.. go in slow... Never splash.. !!.. it looks cool but may cause serious damage.. the air intake ( air filter too) is located just below the seat.. so you can water wade about knee depth easily.. without splashing.. ( make sure disc pads and rotors are not too hot..they might crack)..
    Owning a Himalayan since sept 2017.. did laddakh.. khardungla.. not an issue.. its quite capable in capable hands..
    Slightly underpowered tho..
    Cant expect much more for 1.7 lac.. 😂..
    Atleast im never afraid to drop it unlike those tiger or gs owners.. 🤣🤣

    Amateur move trying to fire the motorcycle back up, always follow hydrolock protocol;
    1. Drain the AF and AF Box.
    2. Drain the carburetor.
    3. Drain the cylinder.
    Only then try starting the motorcycle, else you could seriously damage your motor, even if you get lucky water would still be forced through the rings onto your sump and the engine oil would emulsify and if you're a long way from home then its a seizure waiting to happen, so next time follow the protocol.

  • @iSaurabhSri
    @iSaurabhSri 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    This could be the matter of chance, I do remember around 10-12yrs ago someone in my village had managed to cross deeper water than this on his old bullet, his exhaust was dipped in the water but he managed to cross the water logged section of about 20-30 meter easily.

    • @GrimRider
      @GrimRider  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Saurabh Srivastava , Hi ! Air filter getting wet is a different story . The bike won't suck in enough air through a wet filter and thus die. A firing exhaust underwater isn't necessarily as big an issue as this

    • @akhileshraj8407

    Bro your engine can burst if the water goes inside and you try cranking it up...you should have removed spark plus and then you should have revved it up to let the water out

    RE Himalayan looks like adventure bike but you can't do many of adventures with it . Because it's overweight than engine power , water goes in air filter in normal water logging in road , very poor quality swing arm that any time it can break in pieces , petrol line could be clogged for rust in fuel tank .

      +THE SOULFULL RIDER , I agree. But for 1.8 lacs on road I couldn't ask any more. Satisfied .

      +THE SOULFULL RIDER and this I say after having the complete chassis including swingarm and suspension changed already.
      Under 5 lacs in India, you either have the Himalayan , or the absurd 11000 RPM versys X , or the road biased tourer - GS 310.
      If one knows what he wants , Himalayan fits the bill.

      Grimrider , waiting for HERO Xpulse 200 . It can beat RE HIMALAYAN with price , quality and also it is very light motorcycle for offroading .

      THE SOULFULL RIDER use lsss small engine is not soo good for adventure touring cause that put lot of stress on engine

    • @THESOULFULLRIDER
      @THESOULFULLRIDER 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Guy with Bike , 200c not a small engine for 148-150kg bike . See HIMALAYAN has 411cc engine but struggles for heavy weight 191kg . You think smaller engine useless but practically lighter bike with 200cc engine much more capable to offroading .

    The position of air filter intake in Himalayan is pathetic, Re should do some R&D before they launch any bike like this. Its never too late they should change the position completely.

      Every indian bike manufacturer put air filter their so what's the problem himalayan is made to go rough terrain not into some kind of canals or rivers.

    When water enters into air filter will it goes inside the engine??? Should we replace engine oil???

    • @rupeshnanal1574
      @rupeshnanal1574 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Water via air filter will not enter to crack case easily via piston top. Engine will be off immediately once airfilter choked by water .Means no chance. Only chance to enter via engine breathing tube. So if engine completely immersed means better service it properly. Replace oil
