Provision: David Pearson Takes Aim
For the outdoor enthusiast, South Texas can be a veritable playground, and David Pearson takes full advantage of it. Despite having bilateral transtibial (below knee) amputations and using prostheses, David, 56, says he still participates in almost all of the activities he enjoyed prior to his amputations, including hunting, hiking, and fishing. He does much of his hunting perched in a deer blind but can walk moderate distances over uneven, natural terrain.
David became an amputee two years after surviving a head-on car collision in 1997. "It is by the grace of God that I'm even alive," David says. He was not expected to survive his numerous injuries, which included shattered legs.
David has worked with several prosthetists over the years, and he calls it a blessing to have been referred to Ricardo (Rick) Ramos, CP, LP, CPed, in March 2012. "Rick and the team... really step up for me and do what I need to have done that keeps me walking." He adds that one of the first things he noticed about Premier Prosthetics was its welcoming, family-oriented environment.
Not shy about showing his prosthesis, David enjoys having conversations about them with people he meets at the grocery store, gun shows, and other public places. He also visits medical centers to provide peer support to people who have undergone or will soon undergo an amputation. "Being upright makes a world of difference," David says. "I'm alive, I'm upright, God is in control, and I'm blessed."
I'm a recent double amputee and I'm so depressed. We have only one company here in Jamaica that takes care of prosthetics and they leave a lot to be desired. I don't know what to do , l want to walk again. I cry every day and night, hoping to get some hope, anywhere, from someone, something

After 5 years with one prothetic below knee other leg in splint and am still on crutches ish I could walk like you I can walk so far but then my right ankle gives in that's in splint but my stump hurts like hell you are amazing mate high 5 to you

Surgeon has refused to take right leg of so am thinking abt getting another surgeon he will most likely take it of same as left it looks easier to walk with above the knee amputation but am not sure they will give me what you have but think it's brilliant what you can do
