I'm always amazed at how soft spoken Mario is. A true gentleman and a great champion.

And he was ripped off at the 81 Indy. He deserved to win but it was stolen off him by a cheating Bobby Unser.

14:55 _"It's not some European city or some American city?..."_ (Rich Eisen's question of reference to what would be Mario's "favorite circuit).
No Rich, not every major circuit is in a city. This is the kind of quality interview you have whenever a stick & ball guy hosts someone involved in motorsports.

    there are specialists,
Mario if he chose to he could have been one.
but instead, he gave us a wide ranging career of various racing series.
the best there ever will be in my opinion.

Apparently Rich never bothered to check out Lime Rock Park during all that time working in Bristol CT. I guess Mario forgot to mention he drove Trump in Manahattan to open an episode of Celebrity Apprentice.

Typically Rich is really well-versed in sports history when interviewing his guests, but you can tell that he doesn't know much about racing (no reaction to the mention of AJ Foyt, Al Unser, didn't know that he raced for Paul Newman). Still kept it engaging nonetheless.

"Did you ever meet Paul Newman?" WTF.. Newman/Haas Racing Team that both Andretti's drove for and you didn't have a clue?? You tell him your a big fan? Do some research if you can get away from spanking it to NBA players.

Stick and ball sports announcers are so unprepared to manage conversations like this as they know so little about the sport.........his question of "have you ever met Paul Newman" would be like if I asked Michael Jordan " Were you ever known as being any good at dunking a basketball?" Do some prep work.

boo hoo... He won one f-1 championship in the best car of the grid, he got lucky in Indy one time... and won the Daytona that nobody outside of the US cares about... That makes him a legend?

He is the most versatile driver ever to take a wheel in hand. That makes him a legend for those who love and appreciate the sport.
