One of the most wonderful performances I've seen. She first sang this in 2017 at age 21. I have no idea when she wrote it but the awareness of complicated subjects at such a young age is astonishing.
Us, abusing mother earth... To me Aurora always represent mother nature. So to me, this is a sad song about how mother nature feed us and take care of us, but how we, calling ourselves intelligent beings, slowly are killing her, blindly believing that we are able to live without her. But her love is wild, she loves life itself, and she loves all her children, from the tiniest bacteria to the blue Whales in the sea. She has never complained how we have treated her, her cries have been a silent call, that we didn't listen to. In the end we are forcing her to "return from the shadows"in a try to protect life itself.. We never listen to her and we refuse to understand that her love is wild. We are just one of the those many creatures she loves. We belong to her , not the other way around. A living organism in the Universe, once healthy, then we turned into the cancer, which will kill her. You can not eat money, you know.
This version of this song has to be one of my favourite Aurora performances. The harmonies with Silja are so beautiful. The lyrics are sublime and just ambiguous enough to leave you to your own conclusions. I work predominantly in the quarrying industry so the “like a stone can be broken into sand” line resonates a lot with me. The light beauty of the song is mirrored alongside the darkness of lyrics making it a masterpiece. It is - like yourself - simple, a joy to watch and always leaving you wanting more.
One of her most, among many. outstanding performances. It is an achingly haunting song of domestic violence, You can see in her eyes the dark place she is channeling from and rips me up every time. A companion piece to this is her song Churchyard- KEXP performance is probably the best one. Very glad you got to this song and this performance-it is just so beautifully sung!!
One of her most popular performances, especially with vocal coaches. There is a very different version that she did at Nidarosdomen, that is "bigger" with more vocal acrobatics, but less intimate. I love both versions equally. I think the reason why it's so cool to see her on her tiptoes is that it shows how much she's into the performance. Like she's reaching for those emotions she's trying to convey. That's Silja Sol (j is pronounced like a y). Amazing backup singer and musician!
Domestic violence with murder in the end. That's the theme of this song. A strong woman is destroyed by her husband. "you fell apart, like a stone can be broken into sand" At in the middle of an argument, the man pushes his wife out of the window. She falls on the meadow, bleeds out and dies. Either his guilty conscience haunts him or she comes back as a ghost to hunt him down. In any case, he can no longer find peace. Her words are now louder than his own. Whether only in his head or because of her as ghost. "I will return from the shadows and I bleed in your bed, turn it red like the ground outside your window" He can no longer sleep peacefully because he always sees only her, bleeding. I just can't get over what kind of topics Aurora had dealt with at that young age. Wrote this song in this poetic way. Such a hard topic, so softly packed into a song that simply moves you. Btw. Silja Sol has been Aurora's companion for many years. Aurora - "I went to far" live at honda stage th-cam.com/video/Y2AqeH1GPs4/w-d-xo.html A song about a person who loses herself in order to please another person or to be noticed by them at all. One of my favorites, Both the song and this performance. And Aurora also says something at the beginning in her incomparable way.
When Aurora is pressing her thumbs up into her chin bone or jaw bone, is that she can feel the resonance from her voice and that helps her to "keep track" so to speak, of the tune and pitch of her voice. Its quite remarkable actually. Edit: Same thing when she uses her fingers on the side of the mouth. That's for controlling the width and shape of the opening and thereby the sound that escape from her mouth. Aurora was quite young here and still a "student" of her voice, her instrument if you will. I'v been following her since her teens and her development as a singer has been astonishing. Aurora has always had the most beautiful tone to her voice and as she has gotten older, her control over her instrument is just wonderful to behold.
Well, I am not an expert, but she does a lot of poses just for the pleasure of it. Like during interviews and stuff. And the fingers on the side of her mouth were corresponding with the lyrics.
Nice reaction, you don't need to apologize for anything on your reactions, it is your channel, you do what you want. The song is shining a light on domestic violence, love is wild in the worse possible way in this song. Thanks.
thanks for your reaction. "words falling out of the windows" may also mean a very loud conversation. "are your dreams as dead as they seem?" isn't it a clear provocation? crumbling stone personality, denial of speak out, etc. ending in a bed full of blood. tragedy. love is wild, sometimes to much so.
It's no weirder to notice her weirdness than her weirdness is. As you said: she's unique. She's the only one who is the way she is. Who is she. And that, and her song, and her behaviour, her empathy, her strength and kindness, her fighting spirit and wisdom, are all meant for us to learn, no, more, to believe that we too are unique. She makes us believe what we should already know. Unique. But also, united. In the love of her songs and her art, and her existence, in our emotions, different, unique, strange, and yet compatible.... In our fears. And our hopes. And so, we are all as we are, weird, together.
Her style is so amazing and unique~ If you're interested in some style inspiration somewhat along these lines, I would recommend "Mori Kei" (also known as "Mori Girl"), "Shironuri," "Dolly Kei," and "Cult Party Kei." Also maybe vintage fashion/traditional garb and related clothing styles, like the Hanfu movement, and street style Kimono. Happy hunting~
@@TheRealMommaOG Aurora? She’s Norwegian. But Japanese street fashion has been very popular and influential all over the world, particularly for alt fashion. (Also it’s the area of fashion I am most familiar with to be able to recommend it to you by name haha) At the very least this list should help get your pinterest algorithm started in the general direction of her style 😆
An enigma. A beautiful song about domestic violence. I think the protagonist died here. But it’s not the only song where Aurora sings from the perspective of a ghost. Aurora is always wonderful.
Loved your reaction❤. New subscriber here, Wish you could react to her song "all is soft inside" live at KEXP, definitely one of Aurora's best performances.
Thanks for reacting to another masterpiece. Beautiful harmonies on a serious topic. Aurora's gesture with both thumbs on her chin is from the front cover of her third album "A Different Kind of Human (Step 2)", which was released a few months after this video. Maybe she was already hinting at it in this performance. 😊
Great reaction to this amazingly beautiful, but sad, song and performance🥰 As others have said, it was inspired by domestic violence. She gets killed, and in the end she comes back to haunt him. There’s no music video for this song. The studio version is of course beautiful, but nothing beats her live performances of this song😍😍 After you have reacted to the HAIK documentary, I highly recommend doing the whole concert at Nidarosdomen👍🥰🥰
Every time you react to an AURORA song I want to write "Oh, good, you're finally reacting to my favourite." (But I don't, because EVERY ONE is my favourite!) That said, I've probably listened to/watched this performance more than any other since I first heard it 4 years ago. Seeing her shudder as she thinks about the violence moves me every single time. Her harmonies with Silja Sol in this one are as close to operatic as any I've heard... check out The "Flower Duet" aria from the first act of Léo Delibes' Lakmé and you'll know what I mean.
The lyrics seem to paint a picture of a particular incident in an abusive relationship where the speaker's partner lost control in a fit of rage resulting in the death of the speaker, possibly by being pushed out of a window. This is not the first time that Aurora has written lyrics from the perspective of a dead person/ghost. I feel that the speaker's scattered memories and admission of being unable to fully recollect the incident speak of the trauma of what happened to her.
I just stumbled upon your channel because I watch everything Aurora. Welcome to becoming a Warrior and Weirdo! Judging from your reactions, and I'm sure others have suggested. Please react to Infections of a different kind - live at the Haik concert. Our Queen is in peak form for that one.
I am going to be doing my first live stream soon and plan on watching the entire documentary on that stream. Is that song included in the documentary? Welcome to the channel!
Ola Momma , as already written here it can be a toxic relationship, but it can also be seen as people's behavior towards nature and the Earth. It is interesting that sometimes she talks about a crying land but sometimes about a dying land, she just changes the lyrics sometimes during concerts. When you listen to her lyrics more times, you start to see connections on one side and the other. This is typical for her: one text has multiple meanings, each one finds its own.🏳🌈
I never take this song the same way she or others mean it. It just feels deeper to me than just being a domestic violence song. I think its just as it talks about 'love is wild' not only in a violent way but in primal ways. It also makes me think its about so much is the 'all 1000 peices, strewn across the broken land' feels out of place in that context. also i took the blood in the bed as menstruation for a long while - another wild part of life. of course i do think that domestic problems are a part of this wildness here, but not limited to it maybe...
I take words falling out of the window as screaming for help and shouting during domestic violence… all that remains is a silent call i take that as once he beats her she cant speak anymore. The ground being red and the bed is all the times he has beaten her
I think it does mean that symbolically, and also it might have a double meaning of the actual moment "it" happened, when time seemed to stand still and the glass shattered and she was screaming but everything was quiet- like in a movie scene when the sound cuts out for a moment due to the characters' shock and perception of time stopping, before the loud crash and chaos erupting. Also that sensation of "I heard someone screaming- and then I realized it was me." I just love how many layers her lyrics have!
Howdy. I know this has nothing to do with this video... BUT.. do you think you'll be doing more Ren (or any of his circle) again soon? I hope you never listen to other stuff of his on your own. I can't be alone in wanting your raw reactions to him. He has way more than you've done. 😀
Hi no worries. I did Money Ties and it will be uploaded on Friday. I plan on getting back into more of his music the next time I sit down to record. I actually miss him. lol Thank you!
such a dark song of a "dead" relationship, sung in beautiful harmonies ...."are your dreams as dead as they seem?"....."I bleed in your bed, turn it red, like the ground outside your window"...."Love is Wild", NOT in a good way.....
Domestic violence. He kills her. She comes back to haunt him.
Domestic violence, there is no other explanation
AURORA is one of those artists who is honest, natural, raw, personal, not over produced and very talented.
Hopefully it stays that way.

Love this… some of her best poetry and gorgeous vocalizations by AURORA and Silja!
Aroura is a trained dancer and I think that is why she is so expressive with her body.
