This system makes it so easy to do alignments. I wish my company cared enough about saving tires and fuel economy. I’d definitely recommend it to them.

Thanks for the demo. I'm gonna go calibrate our machine. 😊

I've been using these tools for more than 4 years. I consider myself a Freightliner guy now. It's the #1 truck I work on. Our tire shop has had trucks that have gone from 70,000-80,000 miles on a pair of Goodyear steer tires to 130,000- 150,000 miles. I don't brag about the results, my boss does.

Which Tire store is that? I need to make sure they are highlighted on our shop locator at www.mdalign.com

I love the subject of Alignment. I've been fighting a KW T800 Dump truck pulling to the right for 4 years. I had it aligned with a brand new set of front tires 3 years ago and it did fine until it got its next set of front tires. Its been pulling to the right ever since. These tires are a possibly 2 inches wider and much harder to steer.
If memory serves the left camber was 6 or .6 degrees positive and the right front camber was 0.

It’s typically not the camber that causes the vehicle to be hard to steer… among the common reasons a dump truck will suddenly develop a right pull are sheered steer axle spring pin (could be front pin or the larger pin directly over the axle), suspension wear between drive axles or (mentioning wider tires) steering component damage including king pins, bearings and tie rods. It’s also possible there’s an inflation difference between steers or an inherent pull to one steer… have a competent mechanic inspect steer and suspension components and if all good rotate steer tires.

@@MDAlignment ok thx. This also has the Chalmers 800 suspension.
What is the ideal scrub and thrust angle on these suspensions?

      @MDAlignment  2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@RC-Heli835 If you use our method to string a thrust angle on the front drive, it should be no more than 1/2" greater thrust measurement on the left. If you measure to the narrowest point between the 2 drive wheels on each side, the difference should be no greater than 1/8 inch and if there is a wide side it should be on the right.

@@MDAlignment Thanks! That did the trick.
I propped a level on the tires and eyeballed it to a 4x4 laying against the front tires with measuring increments drawn on it and eyeballed it like a rifle. With the level laying flat, using the outside top edge as a guide.
I was reading 4.5 inches on both tandems to the left and 5.25 inches to the right on both.
I cranked the adjuster in on the front tandem exactly 2/16's which shortened the tram on the left side to 1/8" approximately shorter than the right side. Might could have gone a smidgen farther but it got dark and I wanted to tighten everything put up all the tools and test drive it.
Its funny I've been checking it for days after backing in to my spot and it read like 3 inches to the left. 6 left and 3.5 on the right for instance. Pulling strait and steady in forwards in the smoothest place I could find in the yard made all the difference in the world today.
Fired up the old 80 gallon compressor to bust those 15/16's bolts. I don't think I could have done it without the compressor in that confined space. Now it just barely lightly pulls to the right.
I'll see how it does with a load tomorrow.😃

Mike, before you had all these fancy lasers, what did you use? String and tape?

    • @MDAlignment

Although Mike used a lot of equipment over the years, a string and tape measures simply could not be beaten for reliability and accuracy until this system was developed for us by Jack Hobson in 1996
