    The beginning of America's most Blunted is what always gets me. At least 10 samples mixed together so fluently that they just flow. One of the only producers whose skits never get boring

    Personally an album like this was something “new” back in 2004… hip hop’s community could have not been ready for it, but in the end everyone managed to recognize the genius of DOOM and Madlib in it, which was not taken for granted.

      I was into underground when this dropped. Worked at a record store in the Bay Area. It's not that we weren't ready. Nothing about this album at the time was way beyond the many choices available. There is lots of weird underground music that lots of people were into. Project Blowd, Anticon, Ol'dominion, Hieroglyphics, Peanut Butter Wolf was also Stones Throw, and many others. This DOOM album got really blown up after his death. It became popular to make videos about it like this one. DOOM was was on TV and shit. He wasn't unknown or a secret. We were used to weird music. I had bought and suggested him to others so it's not like I didn't like it. It was just a piece of the scene. Not any more important than any other.

      @@emceeunderdogrising you really were not the slightest into it idiot. since ill bill and necro invented rap and 2whak and feminem stole it, mf doom was the last bastion of realness. it was IT. still today, what besidas canibus can screw with that? the single syllabils off beat by feminem? ok cassidy, but hey, cass does not count as mortal. and you talk about it was not significant? and thats nothing about undergound. thats just a plain rapthing. afterwards rap went, for better, to the germans that can handle a flow

    • @tochiRTA
      @tochiRTA ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@emceeunderdogrising ehh that's halfway true. I was in college when Madvillainy came out and it made instant noise in the underground scene. In fact, it's pretty much the only album in that Def Jux/underground backpacker scene that went beyond the white Def Jux type crowd into the Black college crowd. And then as years went by, it went into general hip hop consciousness. To the point were the ASAP Rocky, Odd Future, Drake, Joey Badass generation were referencing DOOM directly/indirectly if not outright biting him. And this is while DOOM was alive. NONE of those other weird underground albums went anywhere. They were weird for the sake of weird and were basically industrial rock, not hip hop.

    Pretty confident this is my most enjoyable video from your channel! Great video. Really cool to see some of my favorites broken down. Keep rocking Navie 🔥🤙
