We were in NS district many times before dropping down to 5A and the thing that gets overlooked about NS all the time IMO, is how physical and talented they always are in the trenches. The skill players get the highlights and are exceptional talents but man the big uglys for NS dominate year in and year out.
That ass whooping would've been more pronounced if Bailey had been healed up enough to play. He certainly would've helped the Mustangs smoke Duncanville in the following week. 💯🏈

Injuries are apart of the game. North Shore has benefited from Duncanville Injuries in the past, doesn't take away from their wins. BTW, Duncanville's starting QB was lost 1st game of the season so they too were playing with a back up qb.
So how good is North Shore? Well, good enough that in the 6AD1 Texas state semis, against Austin Westlake, that they don't even have to play the starters the whole game. Nothing like seeing a bunch of rich kids with personal trainers, and every other advantage in the world, get their hats handed to them and shown the door. Thank you North Shore.

Speaking as someone who was present at the game...Westlake seemed too emotionally inconsistent at several points of the game. They responded right away after the strip sack+fumble on their first possession-that's good- but then deflated after failing to get anything after the safety and great field position. Second half they came out and scored right away, but when NS also got 7 on their next possession it was the same loss of energy. Too many Chaps taking plays off on many occasions, as well. One team was ready for a fight, and it wasn't Westlake.

*1,000% IQ play for the punter for NS batting that ball and taking the safety... didn't think to pick it up or make a play just dove at it and knock it out of bounds. take the 2 pt loss as opposed to giving up a TD potentially. probably an overlooked play - but Kudo's to that kids quick thinking and great job NS - you have gone through Atascocita (top 30 ranked team @ the time you played them in the playoffs), now Westlake (#9 in the nation), and you will play Duncanville (who as of this week will move up probably to #7 or #8 maybe higher in the nation). No one has had a more rigorous meat grinder of a schedule and path to the Championship than you have - whatever happens - getting this far is without question undying hard work and commitment. Great job - go Htown schools!!!
When I first started watching them a few years ago I just thought they were good cuz they had elite athletes but something I’ve learned is they are a well coached team like extremely well duncanville arguably has better athletes And yet they always beat them

I will give props to a Texas stud team like DV all day long... Their Basketball program is always nationally ranked, presently they're #2. Their track team always has insane talent rolling out... this is an athlete-mill... Now, regarding the coaching.... you can have all the athletic talent in the world... at the HS level though if you do not have coaching you are going nowhere beyond the regional stage in the playoffs. Duncanville, North Shore, Westlake - every year these 3 teams come in - and they are in title contention hitting the semi's at the very least. That coach for DV is a world class coach - but the coaching staff for NS, I just think that's a step ahead... not by much - but just a slight step... Gonna be a great game to watch!!

I know this because I've attended 15 of their 16 games this past season, including the championship game against Duncanville. From what I've seen firsthand, neither of those teams are lacking in speed. Besides that, there were a few star players for both teams that were out for the season due to injuries. So it's fair to assume that either of them would be good enough to face the likes of Miami Central, St. Francis Academy and IMG. As for SJB, I recall that they beat the pants off of Allen at their season opener but the Eagles aren't even considered one of the top teams in Texas anymore. That was made clearer when they couldn't even get past the 1st round in the playoffs against Lewisville. The latter was ousted by Prosper and the following week, they themselves were absolutely owned by Duncanville. The bottom line, is that the top teams in this state aren't afraid to face top teams elsewhere, that decision is ultimately made by the head coaches and athletic directors. Go visit some of the best high school teams in Texas and ask their varsity players if they're anxious about that prospect.

They don't convert that, Westlake ball at 50 yd line and all momentum. NS looked more engaged out there. They also looked better coached. Westlake doesnt have the athletic advantage to get out physicaled and outcoached...and win against these top tier teams. Go get ya'll another chip this year, NS!
