It's important to remember that Doctor mix is a very talented classically trained musician. You can easily be confused by what appears to be a good instrument, and not just enchanting melodic and harmonic progressions in a demo. However, in this case, a great instrument meets a great musician.

It is indeed refreshing to hear his synth presentations. Usually those in the tube are for bass grunts and bleeps with no content whatsoever.

I have owned a C15 for more than 3 years now and I can echo everything about your reactions here. When I first sat down with it I spent more than 4 hours just playing each preset. Within each sound is a multitude of other sounds that just ask to be explored. This is by far the most expressive instrument that I have owned in my 40 plus years of synth ownership. I had a CS80 for more than 10 years and knew inside and out even gigging with it despite its weight. I though I would never ever get the playability that the CS80 gave me ever again until I bought the C15. The personal service from Stephan with Skype calls before and after my purchase will always stay with me and the updates that the C15 has gone through just reinforce the dedication that NonLinear Labs have for this instrument.
Unless you have played one you will never understand what the C15 and sounds like with all the available physical controllers and routings within the synth engine. Also the fact that they have concentrated on just one product and just made it better and better with each update. The lack of polyphonic aftertouch is no loss at all. I think that is overused anyway and is not really as useful as some players would think. BTW the CS80 cannot be beaten in this regard even with the new machines and software plugins available now.
I look forward to seeing you get to grips with the editing of the sounds. 😂

Pedals are totally underrated. I currently play with 3 continuous controller pedals and one sustain footswitch. I'm still learning, and still far away from Vangelis's ridiculous pedal bank, but it helps a lot to be able to change the sound without taking your hands off the keys. I need more feet, though. The price of this beauty is rather less exorbitant than I would have guessed. And Nonlinear Labs is in Berlin! I should have known: shipping is cheapest to Germany.

11:56 "It sort of reads my mind". That's the sign of a good instrument. I was very lucky once to have the chance to play a top quality piano, a Bosendorfer in a big studio... and the moment I began to play I felt as though that piano had become a part of me. It responded to EVERY nuance of what I was doing, and it did so perfectly. It made me want to cry.

The C15 is an instrument that, adequately to acoustic instruments, depends only on the playing skill of the musician. In other words, the C15 punishes inability with bad music. Here to only you and the C15, because as an artist you can exist on the C15 only in the "here and now". There is no false bottom, no prepared sequence or any playful help. Conversely, this also means that whoever masters playing on the keyboard and on the pedals will find new musical expressions in electronic music on the C15 and, this is my conviction, will also change his music.
    tl;dr: The C15 & Dr. Mix are a dream team! 🙂
