    I slice my bread when it has cooled and then freeze it. We only eat sourdough bread for breakfast. In the evening I take out what we need. I never have stale bread and the bread-ends is my favorite.

      I do this too. I live alone and don’t eat much bread, but love my sourdough bread. I put 2-4 slices in bags. When I do this, it tastes like fresh-made bread every time😋

      @@veystone2580 yes, in freezer bags, 4 slices per bag. Then I take them out when I want some bread, because I am not a big bread eater. I re use the freezer bags for the next loaves.

    Hi, thank you for this video. To my knowledge the reason why sourdough last longer than baking soda of yeast bread is not because of bacteria as they are dead once the load is baked, but because if the acidity of the bread the sourdough leads to. This is how I understand it :)

    I bake a sourdough loaf using your measurements of 5 cups grain, and 3-4 cups water , a tablespoon of salt & caraway seeds with 1 cup sourdough starter. The grains i use are spelt, rye, einkorn , kamut, flax seeds, millet and sunflower seeds. I ferment it overnight and let it rise 3 hours in the morning. It is delicious and it lasts more than two weeks. I keep it in a bread box. It has never molded yet! It is so amazing.

    Hi Anja! I had a sourdough bread that didn’t come out too well so I ended up making it into bread crumbs. I froze those months ago and just defrosted them to make a chicken Parmesan and it tasted great!

    Anja, wanted to share. NOT using my SD since 3/18....I put some flour on top...found the
    SDS had risen and a lot of the flour "was eaten". SUPER. Just added more flour. The SDS

    So, its air circulation that prevents mold? I bought a beautiful breadbox but stopped using it because the bread started forming mold. I'm going to try your linen bag suggestion. Does it have to be linen? Or is any breathable bag OK? Thanks for these videos Anja!

    • @OurGabledHome
      @OurGabledHome  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, air circulation delays the formation of mold but doesn't entirely prevent it. That is why I recommend rinsing your bread box with hot vinegar water once a week. As for the bread bag, you can use cotton, too but I wouldn't recommend polyester or something like that. Glad to hear you're enjoying my videos 💛 ~ Anja

    I was gifted a sourdough starter and found your videos but I’m still a bit confused. It is sitting in the fridge now and I’m wondering why I can’t just leave it there until i want to use it instead of adding all that flour and then mixing in water when I’m ready to make something?
    Also, when i take 1/4 cup out of my starter to dehydrate it, what do i do with the rest ?

    • @OurGabledHome
      @OurGabledHome  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can leave it in the fridge for some time but my method keeps it dormant and from turning too sour or developing hooch. If you want t dehydrate, you can put the rest in the fridge, in the compost, use it, or discard it
