My uncle that lived in Bristol uk back in the 60s and had MAICOLETTA 277cc. Both my Auntie and Uncle would load up a tent and camping gear and go camping in the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean and travel along the forest tracks to reach there chosen campsite.

Great video, no annoying music, clear informative commentary and you allow plenty of still time for each shot to give us a chance to see the whole picture clearly. Thanks!

Hi Martin, you forgot to mention the Maicoletta 'pressurising' or fire safety feature of the fuel tank being filled with fumes from the silencer via a connecting tube. I used to love this feature when at the filling station smoke rose from the tank when removing the filler cap. Caused quite a few folk to step back in anticipation of a fire :-) - Roger.

... well done, Martin (... and Paul too), do you know that Carl Hertweg and other testers tested both scooters in the 1950s and described these tests in "Das Motorrad"?
Very factual and not without ridicule and humor ...
These reports can be found in the archive on Google via Wikipedia.

I have a Maicoletta (not used for many years) and I can't find the frame number and engine number . I can't even tell even if the 1958 maicoletta is 175 or 250 cc ... Any suggestions will be appreciated...
