    Pretty much all of the weird non-dinosaurian never get any real credit, seemingly the spotlight is sadly only reserved for the big ones such as mosasaurs and sarcosuchus. So often enough these amazing creatures never seem to get any love :,(

      It's quite weird actually, how some of these never get a mention. This video is the first time I've heard of whale-like, cat-like, or armadillo-like crocs. Just when I thought the synapsids were overlooked...

    I think the most interesting part of the video was when you were just talking about just how varied prehistoric crocodilians were. I'd love to learn more about them. You should do a video just about them.

    If _Kaprosuchus_, _Metriorhynchus_, _Sarcosuchus_, or _Deinosuchus_ didn't exsit, this would be my favorite prehistoric Crocodylomorph. Keep up the good work. I would like to put it in my game I want to work on.

    • @cryptosporidium01
      @cryptosporidium01 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      look up Dakosaurus, Yacarerani, Sebecus, Qinkana...

    • @animalman57
      @animalman57 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My thoughts on the crocodylomorphs you have: I know about _Dakosaurus_ without looking it up and its' bascualy _Metriorhynchus_. _Yacarerani_ is cool, but not as cool as _Kaprosuchus_, _Metriorhynchus_, _Sarcosuchus_, _Deinosuchus_ or _Armadillosuchus_. _Sebecus_ isn't as cool as _Metriorhynchus_, _Sarcosuchus_, _Deinosuchus_, _Armadillosuchus_, or even _Yacarerani_. It isn't even that unqine. _Quinkana_ is _Kaprosuchus_ without the tusks or horns over the eyes.

    • @cryptosporidium01
      @cryptosporidium01 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Metriorhynchus was not 9 to 10 meters long like dakosaurus, which also had a shorter snout reminiscent of an orca. Yacarerani is certainly much more original and cooler than boring riparian crocodylomorphs like Deinosuchus and Sarcosuchus. It was an active mammal-like, even maybe rodent like animal which might even have been warm blooded. Sebecus also was an EXTREMELY unique creature, sebecids are the only crocodylomorphs known with such a tall skull and obvious cursorial lifestyle adaptations, fossil analysis hints to cat-like bristles and maybe even external ears. Def cooler than the boring deino and sarco. Quinkana was a terrestrial true crocodile, not a basal mahajungasuchidae like Kapro, and is known from more material than the single skull of Kapro. It was a true terrestrial apex carnivore and one that went extinct recently. Kaprosuchus probably looked more like a crocodilian warthog (which is pretty cool and awesome !) than like a true apex predator like Quinkana.

    • @animalman57
      @animalman57 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That was just my opinion on the crocs you gave me. The only reason I like _Sarosuchus_ and _Deinosuchus_ over modern crocs is because both are the size of _Tyrannosaurus rex_.

      Honest question, bro. How much do you know about video game design? Would you attempt to code a proprietary engine or license an existing one? What is your plan for asset design? Do you know scripting? What language would you use?
      I'm not trying to be a dick. But, people always talk about some half-assed idea for a video game that is vaguely formed in their head. But, when I start asking questions like those, it's always "uh.... I'll figure it out." Then I have to point out that I actually do know how to create a video game and I've still been working on the same one for 9 years. Something to think about, bud. That's all.

(Side Note: In the Tanystropheus video, you said that you could only find the appearance in Chased by Sea Monsters for pop-culture representations, but Tanystropheus actually had a toy in the Jurassic Park line once. It's obviously not accurate, but I thought that I'd let you know.)

    Great video, as always! Just a heads up, your pronunciation of the Brazilian crocodilomorphs was completely wrong. Baurusuchus would be "Bow-roo-suchus", Adamantinasuchus would be "Ada-mun-chee-na-suchus", Mariliasuchus would be "Ma-ree-lya-suchus", and Susisuchus would be "Soo-see-suchus". Each of these, except the last one, is named after a city in the area I grew up in, in the state of São Paulo.

    How about Paleo Profile: Nanotyrannus or Stygimoloch?

    • @luciusdouglass3645
      @luciusdouglass3645 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Stygimoloch is actually a jouvenille Pachycephalosaurus we know that from it's skull as we cut it open and looked inside and the skull was kind of squishy meaning it was obviously a younger one and then we looked at a Pachy and it's skull was completely solid indicating it was an adult and Dracorex was actually the baby as it's skull was completely squishy so yeah.. it would make more sense to do a Pachycephalosaurus one instead.

    The facts in your paleo profile have blown my mind and fascinated me far more than any "top 10 fascinating facts that'll blow your mind" list I've ever watched. And I'm someone who thought he knew his stuff when it came to prehistoric animals.
    Also, if you still discuss this sort of stuff with creationists, you could tell them that you can't show them a crocoduck but that you have crocodillo if they're interested (and of course try to explain how come crocoducks aren't a thing in actual evolution).

      I was thinking the same..but sadly it wouldn't have much of a purpose as we already have two crocodilians in the Sarco and Kapro, and it would be redundant to make it roll like an armadillo cause' the Doed already does. Poor thing wouldn't mean much for its digging either as we had the Purlovia revealed with that ability.
