Great build video, One suggestion, on your FT page, it would be nice to have more specs. The link to Lazer toys says they are out of stock. Is their setup a 2S or 3S or both?
I build with balsa and with foam board. Balsa can be a thing of beauty when done, but it takes a long time to build and finish. Foam board is quick, cheap, and crash resistant.
First of all I love this channel. I just finished building the big Corsair. Very nice a little slow but flies nicely. Now I'm building the Mustang Mini, but the screws are too short to go through the firewall. I have the F power pack. I will have to modify the fire wall to make I t work but you may want to check your kits.
My motor wires go up and over the firewall no matter what i do, because the wire connections are long and stiff going straight out of the motor making the flexible part of the wires start out further than the whole firewall itself. I got the power pack that was recommended to me on the store site when i bought it, so you'd think it would be compatible with the plane. i have no solutions other than buying a whole different motor so i'll just try it and find out if it ruins the whole thing.
Yorde Hernandez is looking at the picture and reading the description of the product on their store page too difficult for some reason? I mean are you "special" or illiterate or something?
Hey guys, quick question, I am starting the build on the mighty mini, I got the whole kit with power pack included, however am I to trace out and drill out the wooden mount for the motor? Is there a diagram to follow to do this or am I not seeing the firewall piece in the kit? Love the channel, happy to get started on these sweet kits! Thanks!
@ 1:18 I don't understand why ... why the engine and therefore the propeller should not be aligned with the body of the plane? why be a little crooked? cross thrust angle ...? between right and left ... ???
Hi Josh good morning. I have some questions related to motors. I hope you will answer to me. I notice that motors for planes have normally higher can rotor than the motors for drones. Why this difference? Comparing motors for planes and for drones with same diameter, same kv and same voltage applied, what are the differences between motors? Considering same motors characteristics, may I use a drone motors on a plane? There is any differences in performance? About propeller, which are the main differences between drones props and planes props? Is it ok to use drones props on planes? Thanks for your attention and replay. Regards. Giorgio.
Hi, I am building the mini corsair. This is my first build of a mini and I had a question about the power pod. I noticed when I was going to put the firewall on the pod, it doesn't line up on the walls like it does in your video. However, the firewall does sit on the foam nicely. Is it supposed to be glued between the foam now?
I have 2 mini-series firewalls with the holes in different places. One firewall's 4 mount holes are 15mm apart (opposites). The other firewall's 2 holes (opposites) are 15mm apart and the other 2 are only 12mm apart ( the vertical opposites). I discovered the one firewall with 2 holes at 12mm fit my MX1806-2280kV motor only 2 of the 4 mount holes. Is just 2 motor mount holes needed or do I have to drill 2 holes in the firewall inorder to use all 4 mount holes on the motor?
Hey flite test, can i ask if you can design some ft minis based on the japanese mitsubishi zero? Me and my friends want to do a us navy vs. japanese navy dogfight so if its possible to build a japanese mitsubishsi zero using the minis platform that would be great
Im keen to build something like this but being in Australia it costs $121 to get the lazertoyz electrics pack sent out and trying to figure out which components to get from hobby king is difficult as im a novice in the hobby and never scratch built before
sgttiger hot glue. ...n the clearer the sticks the better. ...the milky colored ones will work but the clear sticks are more durable and have better "sticktivity". ..plus it's hard to melt glue with "cold"
BlueBluby it's because of the p factor, I would suggest looking up what it is as I am not 100 percent what it is. But it's basically the right side of the prop gains more lift making the plane veer off to the left. So there is an angle to the right if I am correct to counter act that.
works very well with this kind of materials, very strong .. cheap.. easy to use and sets nearly instantly.. the downs are: ..it sets nearly instantly (so nearly no time to correct if you put the part wrong)..its hot (you can burn yourself, Josh himself gives tips on their hot glue tips video on how to avoid this) and its on the heavier side of glues
Josh, There are many Parts that can be made from ABS or PLA 3D printer materials that would be much stronger than foam. The parts would be one piece and require no gluing. These parts might be about 20%(just a guess)heavier but many times stronger than foam board. Holes and any penetrations could also be positioned as needed.
I was testing my motor for a while and it started kind of clicking or tapping and then stopped. It’s connected now but won’t function, can someone tell me what happened?
Hello, i don't understand why the front side (motor side) is not perpendicular... i'm french so... if someone can explain me with another words... thank you ^^
I think I could answer this... Probably because there are different signal formats from the different radio makers, Walkera, Aurora, Turnigy, Futaba, HiTec, Tactic, and Graupner to mention a few -- and they all talk their own language. What I have done is pick a radio, in my case Walkera's DEVO 7E, a budget radio, small and light with really good quality gimbals, 30 model memory, and the receivers (RX-601/RX-701) online are usually under $20 if not under $10US. Most planes you build with FliteTest are 4 channels or less, so the extra channels can be used for other things, if desired. You could add on flight gyros, lights, retracts, bombay doors, the sky is the limit! Each receiver can be set to its own plane, or power pod, and with several models to store in the radio, I could have a fleet for a song.
Not to be mean but this video didn't really help I built my ft mini scout and was gonna wire the electronics (beginner with RC planes) but when I got my emax motor out there were no bullet connectors there was bullet connectors on the ESC but not the motor so someone please link me to a video or comment (I have watched the connecting electronics vid by FT)
Better learn how to build these because the "swappable" nature odd these isn't SO swappable because of their angle changes and design differences. For example you're not going to use just one of these to power a mini arrow, a mini scout and a tiny trainer...you'll ACTUALLY need 3 different ones...so yeah.. 3 motors, 3 esc, 3 props and mine as well buy 3 receivers while you're out breaking the bank. Otherwise you'll be spending a ton of time screwing and unscrewing your motor to different pods that you want to fly. PITA and the ease is NOT as advertised. FYI
i think you should look at the title again.. from what i see, they are not called "swappable" they are called mini-powerpods.. the old "swappable" powerpod is bigger, and was swappable indeed! these mini powerpods are not advertised as swappable.. but if done right you could maybe make them swappable!
