Did you have a partial? Are you happy with the result?

I think you answered one of my questions after looking at your model. If more ligaments are left in a partial why not do two partials. but when you talked about weight distribution on the shin bone in partials I jumped to that probably being the big reason.

It's actually a great question. There are a few rare docs I know that if you have a partial and develop arthritis in the other half of the knee they do a partial there but it is not the gold standard. Historically knee replacements were two partials but with the modernization of knee implants surgeons migrated to total knees.

Thank you Dr. Rosen for your great TH-cam channel. You have helped me tremendously in my recovery after my total knee replacement. Thank you again.

My surgeon told me that partial knee replacement surgery is apt for young patients. Is it true?

Young patients can have successful partials. You need to consider bone quality, body weight and any arthritis in other parts of your knee. Depending on age you may need a conversion to a full knee replacement in the future if you develop arthritis in other parts of your knee.
