lovely video...without my camera and being out in nature I would be lost..great to get those feelings of joy when you are out ther in what you feel is your special place...
Hi Rosemary, it’s amazing isn’t it that a camera can have such a powerful positive influence. Completely agree 100% and it’s lovely to hear that you feel the same, thank you for sharing. Have a great weekend and take care Adele & Max 😊
I came across your channel through Kim*s podcast and like you I was fascinated by the intimate stories of of those professional photographers journey into photography. I started at school at about the age of 12 when one of the teachers introduced a few of us to developing black and whit film and prints in a makeshift darkroom in a classroom. The initial fascination was seeing the prints appear as though by magic in the developing tray. Nowadays it's the connection and immersion in nature that is the benefit I get from my photography. Thank you for sharing your journey.🙂 👍
I’ve definitely found listening to the podcasts inspiring, moving and fascinating, to hear unique stories about how people found photography is so interesting. That’s amazing that you had the opportunity to see prints being developed at school and superb that you still have a passion for photography now. I missed out on film but love to hear about people’s experiences using it, I can imagine it was fantastic to see the prints come to life in the dark room….hopefully it’s something I’ll try at some point. It’s such a joy to be out with the camera whatever the conditions, and agree 100% that the connection is what makes it so enjoyable. Thank you for sharing with us and taking the time to say hi….Adele & Max 😊
Very interesting, and it would not have been easy to share your harder times, wel done to you. I have retired to country Victoria Australia, and it is 4 hours to the nearest coast. I miss seascape, so whenever we travel to the coast, I get a sense of joy, regardless of conditions, there is always a shot. Cheers, ladies.
Hi David, thank you. It wasn’t the easiest to do but it felt right to include more of a personal side because that’s really what accelerated the journey with the camera. Hopefully you get to visit the coast quite regularly, it’s so lovely to hear that you find joy when out with the camera what ever the conditions, thanks so much for sharing. Take care Adele & Max 😊
Definitely can vouch for retirement and you both having photography as a pursuit will certainly support that transition into the next phase of your lives. Was nice to listen to the podcast too and interesting to hear about your photography journey and the life changing events that had influenced your journey to date. Looking forward to hopefully discussing my own journey in your podcast and delighted you contacted me about participating. Lovely footage and images as well this week. Catch up soon........Jim
Hi Jim, Max is super looking forward to having more time and correcting the work life balance, it’s great that we are in a position to be able to focus more on what we love to do. The podcasts are a great tool in getting to know people a little bit more, I’m looking forward to chatting with you very much Jim, thank you for agreeing 😊😊 Take care and have a fabulous weekend, Adele & Max.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video. I imagine the landscapes and coastal locations in Australia are incredibly beautiful. Thank you for sharing and saying hi….Adele & Max 😊
Thanks for sharing the story so far in this video. I'm pleased for you both that you have photography as a hobby/pastime/therapy and get so much enjoyment from it - and share it with others. When I bumped into the two of you in your elf costumes in Elgol a couple of years ago (how time flies!) I had no idea of your journey before then, and sadly didn't even wonder at the time, I was simply a subscriber and enjoyed your output, and was happy to meet you, albeit too briefly. WIth the knowledge that I now have of your story I can appreciate why you love what you do so much, and feel very grateful that our paths crossed and that you take time to reply to my comments, I really appreciate it. I got into photography when my Mom died in 2014. I spent the cash in her 'safe' on a DSLR because I'd always wanted a proper camera - but didn't know why. Once I got the camera I became addicted to taking images of anything and everything, and used it as an escape from the pressures of work and life. A couple of camera upgrades, and several bags and lenses later I still can't wait to get the camera in my hand (or on a tripod) pointed at something I find interesting. I find that once the camera is switched on I am oblivious to anything going on at all, especially the passage of time, and my mind clears of all the clutter of daily life. The camera gives me a reason to go places (like Skye and Harris & Lewis) that otherwise I wouldn't go to. Also being outdoors I feel properly alive even in the wind rain and snow. Photography is possibly one of the most under rated hobbies for realxation and well being. Finally congratulations to Max on the early retirement, I'm sure you'll love it. I retired only 10 days ago and can;t wait to get to Scotland again soon - I just need to persuade my wife that she does enjoy photography first. 🙏 All the best both.
Hi Mark, I’ve thought about that a lot since hearing other people’s stories….that you don’t really know much about them. I think opening up a little in a video/podcast or social media post is a really good way of sharing and getting to know each other. I hope to meet you again sometime preferably when we aren’t dressed as elves haa. Thanks for sharing your story too Mark and sorry to hear about your mum…it sounds like our passion for photography and the benefits we feel are very similar and completely agree 100% that it is a very underrated hobby to have. Max is looking forward to retiring and having more time. Whoooo for you retiring too, that amazing!! Hopefully your wife will share the love for photography and go with you to visit some of the amazing places that Scotland has to offer. Thanks so much for taking the time to share Mark. Have a fabulous rest of the week, take care Adele & Max 😊😊
Adele and Max - thanks for sharing your story. Sounds like your interest in photography came at just the right moment in your lives. Mine started at age nine when my uncle gave me an old Kodak Brownie camera. Needless to say, that was a long time ago - LOL. I fell in love with photography - and have taken pictures my whole life. I can't imagine going somewhere without a camera. Of course, now days it's much easier and the technology so much more exciting and advanced. The camera is definitely a tool that helps me understand the world - I'd be lost without it.
Hi Cindy, yes absolutely photography came just at the right time. A difficult few years which has likely been the same for a lot of people, it was such a huge distraction and a benefit at the same time. Being able to get out with the camera really does keep us going and it’s always such a joy to visit new and interesting locations. Wow…I wish I’d discovered photography sooner, it must have been fantastic to photograph as a child, discovering the world with a different outlook. Thank you for sharing your story with us….😊 I’m glad that you have enjoyed many years with the camera and are still as enthusiastic about it, that’s lovely. Thanks so much, take care Adele & Max 😊
Nice video again Adele. So for me I was on a regular trip back to Harris (once home) in Oct 21, was sharing a few phone images online, got some amazing feedback, opted to go for an entry level camera, my very first camera D5600 in Nov 21, within 6 weeks I'd upgraded to the Z system. Photography for me is all about being outdoors, being completely immersed in your environment. For me it's the best medicine ever. Up until Oct I was abroad 2-3 times a year, now I'm more than content spending time on the Scottish islands or just visiting places on the mainland. Keep up the good work
Hi Mark, that’s so lovely to hear and completely agree…we’re the same, we much prefer being out in the van exploring, waking up somewhere beautiful. Some of the beaches are equally as beautiful as going abroad if you get the right weather and if not if it’s a bonus from the photography point of view. Lovely to hear that photography is the same for you too. Thanks so much for sharing and for your kind comment. Have a great weekend Adele & Max 😊
Really enjoying the photography experience Thanks again Jono Were now travelling Scotland more since we have built our camper. You have shown us some amazing places…❤️🏴
Great video ladies. I've heard bits and pieces of the story of both of your parents over the past couple of years, but hearing you tell it in more detail was heartbreaking but thank you for sharing your story. That was such a tough time for everyone, but I can't imagine that any had it harder than you. I think I speak for a lot of people who follow you and Max, that we are very happy that you picked photography as a way to get past those tough times. You've been a huge source of inspiration and influence on a lot of people, none more than myself. I've really enjoyed your photography path and hope to continue to follow for a long time to come! Thanks again for sharing your inspirational story as well as your photography and Max's videography! Have a wonderful weekend! Chat soon!
Hi Paul, I really debated about putting this video out with it being so personal but it sort of felt right. We never chat about the reasons we do what we do, I’m not sure that many photographers do but one thing I’ve realised by listening to the podcasts is that it’s either a tool people use to help deal with an event or it’s something people have been into since they were young. The one thing that runs through both is that connection the the environment and appreciating nature. Awwww thank you Paul, that really is very kind of you to say, we just keep getting out and enjoying the camera wherever we go and that can’t be a bad thing. You guys enjoy your weekend and take care, thanks again Adele & Max 😊
Hi Max and Adele. Great video as always. My interest in photography has spanned quite a number of years 40+. Its mostly been landscapes and seascapes. I learned during the days of film.
Hi Jim, thank you…very kind of you as always. How wonderful to have spent 40 years enjoying your camera. I’m sure over that time you will have experienced sooooooo much. I’d love to have a go at film photography one day. Thanks for sharing…hope you are well. Take care Adele & Max 😊
Lovely video again from you both, I love Bow Fiddle and I’ve only been once. The other thing ive learnt , it’s great to have a photography project as that pushes you to go out more as well and once your out in the peace and quiet with no one else around it’s just a fantastic feeling. Keep up the good work 👏🏻
Hey Joy 😊 Thank you, I was a little nervous about putting this one out with it being such a personal one but decided to go with it. I’ve never had a project and something that I actually might think about….thanks. Definitely no better feeling, especially the early morning ones before the world wakes up. Thanks so much….very kind. Hope you are doing well. Take care Adele & Max 😊😊
Hi Adele, thank you so much for sharing your story. Landscape and especially coastal photography has become my therapy after a breakdown in 2015. Keep up the great vlogs you two, love your approach and output ❤
Hi Nigel, thank you for sharing….it’s amazing that photography has been and is such a great hobby/interest for people and has such a positive influence on people’s lives. It definitely is a therapy, I totally agree, being out with the camera channelling creatively is priceless and therapeutic, worth every second. So lovely to hear that it has been the same for you, thank you. Very kind of you. Take care Adele & Max 😊
Excellent video. My wife and I are at the coast down here in Cornwall nearly everyday. I keep a diary on my website and have just started posting on Instagram. I got interested in photography about the same time as you. I,m a retired teacher and am out everyday with my camera, usually at the coast.
Hi Peter, how lovely….that’s the dream isn’t it. I bet you see all sorts of conditions, light and weather with each day being different. It must be such a pleasure to be able to take a walk along the coast every day…we wish we were a little nearer, we’re about 45 minutes. Well done for getting out everyday and enjoying your camera at the coast. Thank you for sharing. Take care Adele & Max 😊
Lovely video, keep sharing your photos. Don't forget your wellies 😊
Thank you….😊😊 My days of wet feet are hopefully behind me but am sure I’ll get caught out on the odd occasion again 🤣🤣 Take care Adele & Max
