    Haven’t seen this video before today.
    Your assessment is spot on.
    I’ve wanted one for a couple of years now.
    Will probably get one some day

    This was my first tomahawk that I used to learn throwing. The paint is almost completly worn off, the paracord damaged and removed. Now I use it for unlocking padlocks (you stick the spike into the padlock's shackle, and twist it, many times it doesn't even destroy the lock and you can lock it again), keep it in my car at all times.

    I love that you say a tomahawk is a "weapon first". I see so many videos of guys testing out tomahawks on wood. That's not what it's for! You can use it for that if you have nothing else, but it's not going to perform like a dedicated axe or hatchet, with quality steel.

    Great video. I would agree about tomahawks being weapons but it also depends on the design of the hawk. Something like a CRKT Nobo, will be just as effective in the field as a hatchet of a similar head weight.

    How about a shootout between the ColdSteel Recon Hawk, the Estwing Hawk and the Browning Hawk?

    This is a nice tomahawk. I like the size and weight better than the Cold Steel's. They're a bit big. The only thing that ruins it for me is the Paracord wrapped handle. I know some people like them. But, I much prefer a rubber over-mould, or handle scales mage out of a grippy material. Quite honestly, I just don't feel like maintaining that Paracord handle as it moves around, or comes undone.

    • @411Outdoors
      @411Outdoors  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I wrap rap hockey tape around my Paracord haha! But yep I do understand

    • @DDDYLN
      @DDDYLN 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@411Outdoors I see a lot of people doing that. It looks like I could put my own handle scales on, but that's a bit of a pain. Browning made a larger version of this called the Shock N Awesome, and it came with G10 handles scales. Unfortunately, it appears to have been discontinued some time ago.

      It's the best value out there. If you get one, make it this one. I just got mine and its a whole new level. I dig my collection, but overall this is my favorite and and its the most fun, especially to draw and throw.

    Is there even one historical instance of a Native American, or anybody else for that matter, throwing their tomahawk during battle? Hollywood sure does like the idea. Pretty dumb thing to do if that is the only weapon you are left with. Just wondering.

      At the end of the day, it’s just a cool skill to have. A lot of people worry about whether or not it would work and don’t never learn how to do it, and find the enjoyment in it. Yes, it would totally work against an unaware, assailant. It would end them.
