  • These are my initial thoughts on the Taurus 44 Magnum 2.5 inch barrel revolver. This is a budget gun I purchased for 489.00 Brand new. Although the fit and finish are not up to the standards of brands like Smith and Wesson and Ruger revolvers, it is a very nice looking stainless steel gun that is very affordable.

I have this exact revolver. I see it as more of a .44 Special - but with Magnum capability... .44 Mag is very stout through it, but manageable with the aftermarket Hogue grip. It's light and accurate. The heaviest load for it is 305 grain bear loads - but that's the maximum upper limit, and results in substantially more recoil!... I've just subscribed; I'll be looking forward to part 2.

Thanks for sharing, I agree, 44 special was great to shoot. finishing up my 2 video now. Had a couple of issues I will share in video, the cylinder seems to be loosing up a bit after shooting some Underwood 200 grain 44 mag. Did you notice any changes after your hotter loads?

@@BigBoreGuns The cylinder on yours seems to be loosening up after shooting those hotter loads? Hmmm... I'm not sure? I haven't noticed that with mine. It is naturally looser in it's lockup than a S&W, Colt, or Ruger though. Mine needs a good cylinder cleaning, I think, before I take it out to the range again... I'll be looking out for your second video.

Love your presentation and the way you explain the gun🫡

Wow! It appears to be a very soft recoil gun! Almost like a 22 lr. ! haha Now, seriously, i have a 8" raging bull in 44 mag. and I often use 240 grain bullets on it (from Magtech/CBC). Think it's a fun gun to shoot but even with a longer barrel it's kind of different animal. Normaly after 20 shots i'd prefer to use a normal gun in the range! haha Greetings from Brazil!

Thanks for watching. I have wondered about the Raging Bull and almost bought one a couple of weeks ago. Looks like a nice gun. I do believe the SW 460 & 500 Magnums have a more pleasant type of recoil than some of these 44 Mags.

What exactly did you pay for it? I found a gently used one 3in barrel for $379 is that a pretty good deal ?

Thanks for watching. I bought this 2.5 inch version new for $489. I always buy new for reviews to insure the gun has been properly cared for. I have bought some used guns for my personal use that have been really good. With Taurus I would just be sure Its in good working order. Not sure how their warranty works. I received a lifetime warranty purchasing this new. I am not aware of a 3" model. Their 4" is supposed to be good, is less expensive and is ported so recoil should be more manageable. I debated on the 4" but I don''t mind recoil and my personal preference was a shorter barrel so opted to go with this model. I am sure there would be benefits with a slightly longer barrel however.

@@vtribe502 oh I realized the one I’m looking at is the model 65 Toro so I guess the price range for that would be a little different 👍👍 great video man I really appreciate you!

What is the model of this gun? I'm having trouble finding this barrel length on line.

This is what I bought. It was actually 489.00. It’s a bit confusing finding it. It came with different grips when it arrived. Might actually be Talo addition. Not listed on Taurus site when I was looking
