- Game: Overgrowth
A few months back I created a new channel called "Parkour Mammal", and used it to test the algorithm because a lot of my videos were getting demonetized at the time. This gameplay was posted there, so some of you may have already seen it because it managed to get a few thousand views before I deleted it.
I love when it turns into a 1v1 and they get all cautious cause you're standing still.

You're an artist with this game's combat system. Made me realise how absolutely terrifying a human-sized anthropomorphic rabbit with martial training and proportionate leg strength would be - quiet, swift and a single kick out of nowhere that caves your entire skull into your collarbone.
You never heard of kangaroo ?
Due to the square-cube theory, a human-sized rabbit would be weak, leg-wise. Still, we can dream.

@@beesmongeese2978 I'd guess that the fact this is more procedual and you never lose responsibility and control over character compared to how melee combat usually use is done in games with just a bunch of animations that transition into each other.

Fucking furious rabbit man murders his way through multiple grimdark animal kingdoms to find some fucking peace and quiet. Inadvertently becomes a hero to slaves and the oppressed but honestly he's just _so goddamn tired._

Rabbit’s Respawn is how I found this game and eventually played it through Humble Bundle. DMTrojan summed the story perfectly lol. It’s a fun and sandbox-y game, story is not too long either. May come back to it for some more shenanigans.

The one thing that really amazes me is that it feels like being good at worthy games is basically your work
Its not a game you play to win, its a game where you set your own kung fu movie up with fluid movement and combat. And Bunnys.
Perfect timing. I finally got this game yesterday after rewatching your other Overgrowth videos. Having tons of fun but you definitely make it look a lot easier than my experience so far. Thanks for making these videos, looking forward to the next one.
Overgrowth has a pretty steep learning curve, but it's actually much easier than the game that preceded it. Lugaru was brutal

Dude, Lugaru and Overgrowth have some of the most amazing movement/combat mechanics i've ever seen. I was never able to get into them too deeply because of the learning curve and difficulty of the games in general.
This game looks like a blast to play, wish it had multiplayer

God this game is criminally underrated.
Not really. The main campaign was bare bones, criminally so considering how long it spent in dev.
I was one of the earliest backers and you can imagine my disappointment at the final product.
Interesting tech demo/sandbox. Not particularly good game.

@@KwadDamyj Not every game needs a massive story or a campaign though, let it stand out as a sandbox fighting game, it's just dumb fun.
Also, there's quite a lot of player made maps, missions and campaigns, weapons, characters and other content, THAT is the aim of this game, you completely misunderstood the point.
And yes, i'm one of the early backers as well, bought it only for the fighting, i've never touched campaign.

True. But the combat in Souls games isn't that great to begin with. So a game with a really good and dynamic combat system being better is not that surprising.

You are shockingly good at this game’s combat
Rabbits would be very good at fighting if they had a similar build as a human, their eyes are far apart to they can see more of their surroundings, this makes it very hard to flank them. The only weakness I can see is that there would be a massive blind spot in the middle of their face. However, Their ears more than make up for that blind spot. They are very sensitive and can hear he slightest noise, making it impossible to sneak up on them. This also allows them to hear the subtle movements of their opponent, effectively giving them the ability to predict their opponent's moves. Finally, their powerful legs can propel them at incredible speeds, making them very hard to hit. They can also leap far distances which allows them to avoid fights altogether, not that they would have a hard time fighting, since one kick would be powerful enough to completely shatter a ribcage and rupture every organ in your body.
Those viewers that don't know - this game has incredibly difficult fights!
eh, the main difficulty of the combat is how fast the attacks are, and thus how hard they are to learn the block/dodgr timing for. after a few hours, you can take down just about anyone. the only really difficult encounters are when you get caught up in head on fights against multiple armed opponents. also, wolves are a bitch if you haven't learned to land jumpkicks consistently.
the drop kick ruined this game for me, it pretty much lets you cheese every fight
@@j.stretcher don’t spam the button its a campaign game u don’t play against online player’s so whats the problem , if u always spam that button u a big Noob
@@j.stretcher yeah, but on the hardest difficulty, the AI starts to roll out of the way when you jump towards them, making jumpkicks harder to land. also, there are mods on the steam workshop that make the AI smarter overall, which makes the combat a lot fresher once you've mastered the mechanics.
@@Saycmyers i actually avoid using it altogether but i'm just pointing out the fact that it's busted and it's easily the most optimal way to play
I know this game seems to be more chinese influenced than Japan, but i'd imagine if they made a Yojimbo game/movie it'd look like this but.. yknow more swords

If you cobsider the fact that the campaign is as bare bones as it can get, and the last time ive played had campaign levels crashing on boot, on too of trh combat veing extremely hard to understand, and you got yourself a formula of "spoken word" towards negativity.
to me this this is absurd, epic, funny and cool at the same time. love it

I've seen Overgrowth for years now and have no idea what it is, what it's about, or what the gameplay is like. This video makes me wanna learn tho.
What you see is what you get, appart from the dialogue and the music. And there's a built-in level editor which is pretty cool. You can make your own campaign.

At some point I hope they give the aerial kick to rabbit ai, make stealth more viable, and build a sandbox. Overgrowth is such a satisfying game and I wish there was more of it to play
This the first time im seeing this game, its very interesting. One of the interesting bit is the fast-paced AI behaviour and easy to understand body language. The camera also play a major role in this. The combat system is also amazing.
Looking at the video, I think the rabbit, main character had a 1 hit you die system. Cuz they invested a lot in teasing and dodging.
This is based on the video alone, I might be wrong. Gonna see if im right...
He can take a few hits, but not too many - same as enemies it all depends on how and where you were hit.

@@nahruz.w3044 It's not really free roam. There are levels, which are fairly big but low on detail, and various missions that you can approach in different ways. The game is pretty short itself, but there's quite a bit of user-made content to make up for it.
The combat is fairly fun, but it has limitations you begin to see after you master it, still I recommend you try it - it's currently on sale on Steam.
