What this skit is illustrating is there are real adult woman (and a few men) who treat their pets like Human children, and in fact when a woman who has real human kids is late to work and they are the boss they don't understand and dock that woman for doing motherly stuff, but when they need to take their pet to the Vet or whatever it is, they take off at 2 pm in the afternoon to get that done, without any penalty as they are the boss and they cannot distinguish between Human children and Pets. They are often members of the Karen community, but not always.
