    Bought the 2017 Envision in January 2018. I really like it. It rides well and handles great. Also, like the fact that it came with auto start and wifi. Yeah!!! I have the basic. I think that for the price the basic should have more features such as lane assist and heated steering wheel. As far as being made in China, it doesn't bother me. Over half the things in my house are from China.

    Was given this as a loaner, I was actually really impressed with the driving dynamics. Have driven the Lincoln MkC and liked this better. Was pleasantly surprised. You can pick this up used for about 25 grand.

    I really enjoy his car reviews. he deserves more subscribers , his attention to detail, research and knowledge on each vehicle is spot on. some others just review a vehicle right in the dealership parking lot. not this guy.

    Hey Tom. Great review. I think this has a pretty nice interior. To me, the outside still likes kind of low rent to be near luxury. The rear end especially looks too much like the smaller Encore.

  • @lucky1206
    @lucky1206 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    honestly I should have bought this. I recently bought a 2017 Ford Escape Ecoboost 4WD, and this has more comfort to it from the rear to the front. I got a very good deal on the Ford Escape, but at the time this Envision cost too much but now with 16% off the price tag, it cost as much as my Escape....Damn it. I will just wait for something more sporty and luxury from Buick which is the new Regal.

  • @76carmel

    Tom, with the new-gen. Equinox and GMC Terrain coming, I'm not sure Buick will or can make many changes. In fact, in the '18 models, they'll put 3 turbo engine options include a (gasp) diesel. Also, a 2L turbo will place the 3.6L V6, and that will get a GM first 9-sp automatic transmission. Could Buick put that 9-sp. in the Envision? We will see.

    • @DrivenCarReviews
      @DrivenCarReviews  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As I said, the Buick rep stated that the Envision uses very few components of the upcoming Equinox so I'm not sure about that. So, who knows? And in this business things can change quickly. Funny since it takes years to bring a product to market.

    The Envision looks like a really nice mid-sized SUV but in your opinion how does it measure up to
    the new Mazda CX-9.? I hope that the next generation will be built here . I have a feeling that GM
    is not going to let the factory in China produce poorly built cars. I read that soon most Buicks will not
    be built in the US. To think that for decades Flint Michigan was Buicks home base - how times
    change. I really enjoy your road tests, informative & to the point. Perhaps you can do some reporting
    on the reliability of some of the cars that you road test?

    If you hopped in a time machine and traveled back to the 50's and told people there would be a $44,000 Chinese-made Buick in 2016 they'd never believe you. Also, is it just me or is Tom riffing on the 1980's Buick slogan "Wouldn't You Rather Have a Buick?" when he talks about the turbo engine?

    • @DrivenCarReviews
      @DrivenCarReviews  8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You're the first one to get that. I believe it went back to the mid-60s.

    looks like a chevy spark on steroids LOL, i had a spark as a "loaner" 3-1/2 years ago when my smart was in the shop. last year a MB C300 (weird name, it had a 2 liter turbo 4 banger) was quite the road car, but i had a 190E 9 years ago and that had a 2.3 liter.

      Yes. mkc is sexy. Love the direction Lincoln is going now. so young and fresh. Buick needs to take a lesson. it's still a "last car you'll ever buy" brand. Lincoln and cadillac got away from those stigmas. Buick needs a new design team.

    The end tho! lmfao dam man, and he looked right in the camera too. Best way to get young people to your brand, cheap cars! Benz did that with the CLA. Not sure how well it did (Benz have jacked up the price over the years).

    • @DrivenCarReviews
      @DrivenCarReviews  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      CLA was never cheap. Started at around 30K but of course that was without destination. Add anything one might want and the price quickly rocketed up. I remember hearing the average transaction price was closer to 38K. Great marketing though.

    • @RidingWithJahv
      @RidingWithJahv 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lemme say cheap for benz shoppers haha, but wow! didnt know avg prices were up there! then again German car manufacturers list everything as an option; surprise they havent made seat belts optional.

      starting at $35,000- as tested $44,000 hahahhahahahahaha for a Buick? uhh nooo. first of all that's ridiculous even for a so called "premium" market now. And secondly, what younger buyer would pay that. there is alot more you can get on the market for almost 40k and if someone is shopping in that price point i doubt this "Empty nester, retiree Florida car is on the shopping list

    • @DrivenCarReviews
      @DrivenCarReviews  8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Depends on how you define practical I suppose. Growing up, my friend's family owned one. Theirs was huge, hard to park in the city, yet not as spacious inside as you would think. Rear wheel drive was horrible in the snow (even with winter tires). Drove like the boat it was. Think it got 12 mpg. It was replaced by one of the first Chrysler minivans that was two feet shorter and had more useable room. His mom hated that wagon. We loved to take it out on icy parking lots at night though, great for doing massive donuts.

    Just look at how the backs of the seats fold up and are not tightly fitted around the seats when he does the grocery test .. that just screams carelessness at the assembly level . A shame because on paper it sounds great lookin at it is okay but when you get in it, it screams bargain , last minute throw together

    • @DrivenCarReviews
      @DrivenCarReviews  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree with the fabric on the seat back. On the whole though, the Envision's assembly quality is about on par with any modern vehicle that isn't a full-on luxury brand. I see details like that seat all the time on mainstream brands. Yes, even the Japanese brands.

    That dashboard looks really dated and of cheep quality. Thats obviously not stitched leather. And I'm not saying that because its made in china. Im not saying that china makes cheep things. No hate there. Don't get me mistaken for another racist white guy.
