- Trying out a brand new No. 10 Skillet. This one is from Field Company. Field Company contacted me, I did make the initial contact.
In this video I test the skillet by making a complete breakfast with home fries, ham, red eye gravy, toast and scrambled eggs. I give you my honest opinion about this high priced skillet. #fieldcompany #field

I made a follow up review of this same skillet. • Field Company No. 10 S...

I got a field #10 coming in the mail, seeing nothing stick to it right out of the box makes me wish I got faster shipping, lol. It'll be the first cast iron I'll cook on, and I wanted something nice for my first piece, I looked at all the high end cast iron companies like lancaster, smithey, finex, and butter pat. From reviews and videos the field looked like it held seasoning better, and wasn't super heavy. I'm excited to throw a ribeye or strip in it to see what the crust looks like, I can get pretty good crust with a normal coated pan so we'll see just how much better it can get.
OMG this was the MOST FUN cast iron video I have ever seen. Love ya !!!! And adore your greatma cast iron story. Lol 😂 ain’t nothing like grandmas. Blessings! 💜🌟😄
That was one of the best demonstrations of a pan I’ve seen. I’ve been wanting a Field but now I’m sold. Great job!
Thank you. It is a fantastic skillet. I used it three times this very evening. I also have follow up review video too.th-cam.com/video/c-kp7AcHwKI/w-d-xo.html
@@BigLewBBQ You said it was gonna be your everyday pan. I’m going to check out the follow up right now!
After all of my research, I am finally buying a Field skillet. My hang up was the pouring feature. Thank you for showing that. We cook a lot of bacon and save the grease. 😊
Hey Big Lew. Going to buy a no 10 Field and lid soon based on the research I've done of some of the different skillets available on the new market. Thanks for your great initial and follow up reviews. Best and most thorough reviews on a skillet!
By the way, what's that wooden spatula you're using in the video? I love the look and ergonomics of it.
I love this, ordering one now. Thanks Big Lew!
I truly think you will enjoy it. I love mine and I’ve only had it a week.
That is one Totally awesome cast iron skillet Lew, holy cow ! 😳
Man that is sure a nice piece to add to your collection
What a blessing to get to review and test that out 🥰👍🏻🙏🏻
Thank you Donna, I’ve used it every day since Sunday, Sometimes twice or thrice a day. A follow up review is coming soon.
Just got my #6 and can't wait to use it.
Great review and Field is awesome I just can't afford them. I use modern new Lodge and grind and sand the inside down to bare metal and smooth it out. Sides too and I smooth out some of the rough edges to my liking. I then engrave to bottom of the pan with a dremel tool so it's unique to me. Then I clean it and season it up really good and she is smooth like Sunday morning. That is a heirloom I can pass down to my kids. With that said you did a awesome review, great cooking and what a beautiful piece of Cast Iron Field is rolling out. Really enjoyed it and keep up the good work. God Bless you and your family.
I love my Lodge too, I have several videos with it.
I bought a #8 Field and I got it nasty straight from the factory! I cleaned it up and seasoned it twice home style. It turned out fine! There is something about an old school skillet though. It almost feel like cheating to use one of these premium pans!
Yea, I can see your point.
Great review! Thank you!
Thank you, a follow up is coming Monday.
Great review Big Lew nice breakfast too. Got me sold on that pan looks like a work horse.
It’s high priced but it is high quality
Excellent review Lew.
Hey Orie!
@@BigLewBBQ Howdy Lew!
Great review of this premium skillet. Very informative and through. The skillet itself is very impressive, I guess sometimes you have to step up, bite the bullet to get the really good stuff. Like you, my budget is very tight, and this is a scary price. I've seen a few reviews of this skillet, and I've been impressed each time. I mean this is a one time investment for a few life times of use, but still scary price. Nicely Done. Thanks for sharing. 😎.
I’ve used it every day since this first cook on Sunday morning. A follow up review is coming out next week. If the skillet was the same price as a lodge I would say it is the much better choice. Since it is not the same price I will try to explain the pros and cons of buying this skillet in that upcoming video which will be shorter and I’ll be speaking from a position of experience with it not just first impressions.
Extremely impressed! I’ve been looking for a cast iron option made in the USA that wast just the run of the mill lodge. This may be the way to go! Of course, im scouring the inter webs for a good old griswold too. I have been using my Wenzel set for over a decade but it isn’t American made.
I have the Wenzel set, got it twenty years ago, I cracked the large skillet, by leaving it on the stove too long after a reseason. Forgot about it and left the stove on while I watched tv for a few hours. That’s when I replaced it with my lodge. I use the Wenzel Dutch oven frequently.
Wow Big Lew that's an awesome review and killer breakfast. This skillet is really impressive.
It truly is.
Wow..... I'm 62 y/o and I have my Grandmother's Cast Iron. It is probably close to 80 y/o or older. We cook biscuits, cornbread and all kind of stuff. My new favorite is my lite cast iron wok that I bought in Tennessee. But that field is very impressive.
It’s my first piece of modern premium cast iron. A follow up review is coming next week.
Awesome video and skillit love your channel
Thank you!
Great review Lew! I have the #4 and #6, they are nice. I also have my Grandmothers and Great Grandmother #8 and #10. Need the 12 to complete the set!
Thank you! I expected to like it, I like all cast iron, even the the Asian stuff. I did not expect to be extremely impressed with it. I’ve been cooking all week in it. It is quite nice, not perfect but quite nice. A follow up review will be out next week.
That skillet is impressive. I would love to splurge on premium cast iron, but I have enough cast Iron. My family is giving me their vintage Unitentified Frying Objects. I love to see your excitement in this video.
I’ll be honest, I wouldn’t have bought it either. It’s out of my budget. However, for some one who can afford it, it is an excellent choice. If i am loving it. A follow up review is coming next week.
@@BigLewBBQ I'm looking forward to it. I enjoy your reviews.
Can you do a Smithey and Northern Company cast iron review? If you can. Warmth & gratitude. 💜🌟🙏
If they send my one I will review it. I have too large a cast iron collection now, especially skillets. So it’s not worth it for me to purchase one. However, if Smithy or Northern are pleased to send me one I will accept.
I have other videos with this field skillet too. Including a follow up review to this one.
it's my favorite skillet... did wish it had pour spouts though.... but awesome
I really like it too
I looooove this pan and this review. Thank you! Do you think the cast iron lid is necessary for this 10 pan or can I skip the lid (and additional cost) 😂. Thanks!
Well I don’t have the lid. Yet I do have a Lodge brand with a lid. So when I need a lid I use the Lodge that I had previously owned. If you don’t already have a skillet with a lid I would seriously consider getting the lid for it.
@@BigLewBBQ thank you!
I like that wooden spatula.
It’s a good one. I like it too.
That’s a really nice cast iron skillet and hey not a bad looking breakfast either. Pretty cool that it’s non stick from the factory, those years of cooking on other CI is a downside to buying new pieces. And the lighter weight is great too. Have a fantastic week Big Lew!
Man my Surface is fine a frog hair. This one is getting that way already and only had it a week.
Lodge Black lock?
I hear good things about it, yet I don’t have any.
Just ordered
Made in the USA -that is a beautiful looking cast iron that will serve you many many years.
Thank you Louis
I really like this guy.
Thanks
SMOOTH ,I LIKE IT .
Thank you

So, with you being a lover of cast iron, I have a question that, hopefully, you can suggest some ways to restore my latest cooker? I recently came across a 100% cast iron kettle cooker by the name of a Cook'N' Kettle. It's like a Weber Jumbo
Joe or an medium size Old Smokey but the entire thing is made from cast iron. It's seem better days and needs some restoration. They started making these in 1947 but mine has a stamp date showing that it was cast in 1959. Are you familiar with these cookers? And might you have any tips on restoring this beautiful cooker back to life? It even has the original rotisserie motor and spit and it still works!
Anyways, keep making these great vids as I enjoy watching them. Hasta la proxima!
@@brams9938 I probably won’t fit in an electrolysis tank. I would use lye based oven cleaner and a little elbow grease.
I’m liking that brother!
It’s fine piece of CI
Sorry about your wife
Thank you.
I agree cast iron is absolutely the best to use . . That crap none stick stuff warps quickly. Them homefries looks good . I put onions in mine
@@CharlesG.2525 I saw that you asked about my flipping stick. It is made locally about twenty miles from where I live. I have bought several of them from him as gifts and I own two. I paid for them they have not been provided for product placement. www.cajunpitstix.com/#/
