National Route N2 part 6 - The Centre of Portugal

- Nearing the halfway point of the National Route N2 through the heart of Portugal, stopping to take in the sights of the beautiful towns and villages.
The old original route of the N2 winds its way through the mountains with the trees shedding their autumn-coloured leaves it's a wonderful place to be.
Our first stop is the lovely town of Serta, where we have a coffee overlooking the historic Ponte de Calvalha, which you can find with this Google map link maps.app.goo.g...
From Serta, it's a short drive to the Geodesic Centre of Portugal, a place you cannot miss and have to come here to experience the breathtaking 360° views from the top of the mountain. You can find it from this Google map link maps.app.goo.g...
Watching the sunrise behind the mountains on a clear sunny morning doesn't get any better. We continued our journey leaving Vila de Rei and turning left at the last roundabout to drive the original Rota N2 route rather than the newer main road. So glad we did as the road was really nice to drive and so pretty through all the trees and hillside. A Google map link to the last roundabout where you turn left can be found here maps.app.goo.g...
This old N2 road takes you further down to the huge historic town of Abrantes, with its walled castle sitting on top of the hill in the centre overlooking the river Tagus. We park the van in the car park on the south side of the river with a view of the castle maps.app.goo.g...

Hi Greg/Lou, I was really inspired by you and your enthusiasm to build my own van. Unfortunately my health isn’t as well as it should be. I watched all episodes anyway. The next best thing is to buy a 2 birth motorhome(Peugeot Boxer). I went the motorhome route mainly because if I bought a second hand self built van, I really wouldn’t have the confidence in it, meaning has everything been done correctly? I’ve always been interested in travelling. Like you I too have a motorcycle (Triumph tiger 800) and camp wherever I can. Done Europe a few times, and LA to Vancouver (to see my sister) once. I’ve now subscribed to your travel channel 👍👍👍 really looking forward to viewing all these.

Great job Greg. I was wondering what happened to the remainder of your N2 journey. I came up the Coast in my Motor home last June. Definitely will be back to do the N2, you make it look fantastic.

No I was waiting for a TH-camr to up load the next video ha ha . We ended up going to tomar and obidos .then following the coast . The first part of the n2 was so beautiful. Hopefully going back in February/March
good idea to split the channels so that each channel gets the attention it deserves

We have just discovered your channel and so happy we have. We love Portugal and have often talked about doing the N2. Your videos are fantastic and inspiring us do this trip once we are retired in about 18 months.

It’s a beautiful country with lovely people.
At the bottom of the valley where you were on the giant swing is a river beach and mini resort next to the river. There is space to park up there and its beautiful. The wooden steps start there and take you on a circular walk :)

It was raining and foggy when we were at the Geodesic Centre a few weeks ago and we couldn’t see a thing so it was good to see what we missed. We actually found it difficult to stay on the N2, it seemed to disappear off the maps and the Satnav kept directing us onto different roads, still beautiful though. We saw a couple of your stickers on the signs. Looking forward to the next vid.
The sat nav will always try and take you the main way. What we did was drop pins along the route and always follow the road signs. The stops we found along the route where really well provided for as you’ve seen. Keep our map links for another time. 👍🏼😊

Hi Greg. Sorry this is an unrelated question but I’ve just seen a comment you left on another page a few months back and just wanted clarification. It’s regarding earth or no earthing on EHU. I’ve earthed Consumer unit to van chassis is this wrong please
