Raag Jogia Asavari is a rare and complex raga in Hindustani classical music. It is a combination of two ragas: Jogia and Asavari. Jogia is a raga of the night, while Asavari is a raga of the morning. The raga has both shuddha and komal nishads, as well as both shuddha and komal madhyams. It is considered to be a very expressive and emotional raga, suitable for conveying the feelings of love, longing, and devotion.
Pandit Mallikarjun Mansur was one of the greatest exponents of Raag Jogia Asavari. He was a master of khayal gayaki, and had a command over many rare ragas. He was known for his constant and mercurial improvisations in both melody and rhythm, without losing the essence of the raga. He sang Raag Jogia Asavari with great depth and beauty, captivating the listeners with his soulful voice and intricate taans.
