The crime was horrible but an older brother knowing his little brother is intellectually disabled and involving him is a damn shame. He should’ve eaten the charges and protected his baby brother. Intellectually disabled and doing 30 yrs while able mind predators brutalize kids and do 5-7 yrs. I’m disgusted. Some might say apples and oranges but looking at this kid, he was brutalized as a baby, smgdh

Sad ... what surprises me is the kids in rural areas who committed horrible crimes seem to get harshest sentences compare to city kids & privileged kids. I always believe, no matter how terrible a person is, there's always a good spot in their hearts. Suggest: every kid a chance to be reaassed & evaluated for other ways or means to continue rehab, if not released to family who still love them. And provide help for them to continue rehab process. (Maybe show video of prisoners who died in prison etc. Thank you.
*** My brother got killed 30 years ago & the hurt is basically gone except memories.

He was brutalized as a baby does not give him the right to kill others. He was brutalized.does not equal murder. The person teenage monster KILLED did not kill teenage monster nor anyone else. Younger monster never had the right to take the life of someone who did not harm him. Younger monster knew full well what he did. He admitted he had nobody to blame but himself.

@DonnellxxOkafor I specifically said the crime was horrible you meatball. I was really speaking more along the lines of a big brother leading his little brother and committing such a heinous crime. I know you had 1 teacher all thru school so I'm gonna cut you some slack. One more thing, I feel like a child predator should get the same sentence as a murderer.

He was not that intellectually disabled. The younger brother admitted he knew what he was doing and admitted it was nobody's fault but his and the younger brother KILLED SOMEONE. You see a young male and your hormones get the best of you.

I have 7 brothers and sisters and 2 of my brothers ended up in prison for breaking into houses and doing things our momma taught them was right. All of my momma children were taught to lie, steal, prostitute. Our momma said that's what your suppose to do wen you are growing up because drugs were a big part of our child hood. The younger brother looked so dead when he was about to be strip searched but he lit up like a bulb when he saw his brother. And then when they were separated his dead face came back. I felt very sorry for him, but happy to see him smiling while with his brother.
I liked that both brothers blamed no one but themselves for their actions. There was a wholesomeness in both of them that I hope will only grow and prosper as they get older.
I hope they can both make it when they get out of prison.

@stst77 - poignantly stated. This case was sad on every front -- for the boys, for the victims and their families and for the community as a whole. The elderly woman who was injured did not advocate for long prison sentences for the boys, which we found quite extraordinary. This is one of the toughest cases we've filmed over the years for many, many reasons. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment.

The bottom line is the victim is dead and never coming back but they are alive and will return to society so if they are going to return to society we should all want them as mentally healthy and rehabilitated as possible because they or people like them could marry your daughter, work with your son, or move in and be your neighbor. It is not refreshing that they get to see each other again. The man they killed and robbed will not get to see anything again. They killed and robbed someone then get rewarded with being allowed to stay with family. It was familial ties that led to planning murder and robbery. It was familial ties that made the older brother make the younger brother kill the victim when he otherwise would not have.

I heard this story of how a warden's wife took an interest in the prison inmates. She formed relationships with them and taught many to read.
The warden's wife died suddenly, and as they were preparing the funeral arrangements, the inmates all stood at the gate of the prison sobbing. The warden couldn't help himself and allowed the inmates out to attend the funeral. When the funeral was over, everyone of those inmates returned to the prison without the slightest incident.
What does that tell you? People, no matter who they are, need love and forgiveness.

These boys parents are responsible for how these boys turned out. They didn't see the value of life because they were discarded by their junkie parents and were never shown how valuable life is, their life and all life. There's so much wrong w all of this. Its heartbreaking to see especially the young man that was 13 at the time of the murder and attempted murder. They took a life and still only see it as a kid making a mistake. Perhaps these kids parents were also victims of abuse themselves and it's the grandparents fault or societies fault, American culture that seems to breed so many of these child killers.
They say in a poor society crime is rife, yet as societies become collectively wealthier we actually find crime and violence seems to increase.
Blame should be put at the door of these who actually committed the crimes and more emphasis should be put on the victims and victims family

@markwilliams5635 - We produced these because we've had so many people over the past year ask for updates on the kids. Unfortunately, we're a very small team and don't have a lot of $ to travel and film all new interviews in a short period of time. Therefore, we re-edited original footage, added additional footage we've never uploaded before and included the written updates on where the kids are now to let people know how the kids are doing today. Apologies if it's less than what you expected. Trust us, we try our very best with the resources we have, and DO plan to do all new interviews just as soon as we can. Thank you for understanding. We really do appreciate the viewers we have on our channel!

A lot of people mention the disappointment and expectation in reading prisoners reactions both in court and in interviews.
First, the shock of an alternate reality , where the most depraved, violent and cold hearted, evil people are revered. If you are emotional or kind
you will be savagely attacked, a daily horror that robs you of sense of safety. You can judge but never know the real fear of nowhere to run.
These kids are raised with negative role models.

    • @priscillasalzberg5349
      @priscillasalzberg5349 ปีที่แล้ว

The negative role model for the younger brother was the older brother. So what does the legal system do? reunite them. The fact that a role model is negative does not give you the right to inflict death on someone else. These two got off easy. They will be released at latest 45 years old and get to keep living. The man they killed does not live anymore. The victim did not do anything to deserve that. These two monsters knew better. Younger monster admitted he has nobody to blame but himself.

These monsters kept saying it was their first time getting into trouble with the law. Like I wrote, it was just the first time. Given another chance they would get into trouble again. Blade said in the interview it was just one mistake and the rest of his life was normal. The narrative at the end reads (no pun intended Reeds) that Blade got convicted a second time and got two years added to his sentence for possession of a dangerous device. Their sister went through the same upbringing as they did and she never got into trouble with the law. When Blade is interviewed without his brother then Blade acts somewhat responsible yet he thinks he'll be out in three years with a GED and get a "good job"and he would tell the victims' families he is sorry. When Blade is with his brother, Blade tells his brother "They brought this on themselves and get into trouble for stupid little shit." After assisting in murdering the old man and slashing the old woman's throat and getting put in jail, Blade goes right back to carrying weapons and thinks murdering and carrying dangerous weapons is "Stupid shit."

Leaving aside the crime itself, I can only but feel these two have been failed all along their short lives so far and the brutal American justice system makes no exceptions and tries children as adults as seen here. I myself a subject of a UK Channel 4 documentary in 1984 and a UK drama in 1982 was in a terrible way back then, OK I didn't kill anyone but I was increasingly more and more violent and dangerous to those around me then spent three hard years in a private/council financed "borstal" which had staff in there who had all the answers, they met my violence and dealt with it in brutal ways and it was carrot and stick and that first year it was all stick. Working alongside this were mental health experts, psychologists and child psychiatrists, counsellors who began to unravel my own vicious and terrible childhood physical abuse from a mentally ill and alcoholic father and they started to understand my psyche a lot and I fought the system less and less the second year allowing me to gravitate up to more open houses, more privilege and thus carrot was achieved. I got sent back to the secure prison unit twice for escaping and had to start again but now restraining my temper I moved up very quickly and a year later, end of 1983 I was released. I am not proud of what I was but I am proud of who I am today, a grandfather of gentle disposition mostly, learning empathy in others as I matured.

The intro says, ""These boys had never been in trouble with the law before." There has to be a first time for everything and that statement is the same as saying a 5 year old had never been in trouble with the law. 15 and 17 is very early to be in trouble with the law. The intro also writes, "a night that started out with an attempt to steal beer went horribly wrong." This is soooo misleading. The two monsters went in with guns. Nobody forced them to carry guns. They chose to carry guns going in so there was the intent. They knew the person they were robbing might resist being robbed. The "attempt to steal went horribly wrong." So now it's the victim's fault that the robbery went wrong. If only the victim would have let them rob him then everything would have been ok?? They brought the guns in in case this exact scenario would occur.

I found it weird that they felt the need to film him in that cell. And saying that he was molested as a kid wasn't that smart either because inmates either see this themselves or have relatives talking about it and it's usually not a thing other innates need to know. Furthermore the interviewer didn't seem well prepared, didn't seem to know what to ask and kept asking the same things even after getting an answer. Obviously, they hadn't seen each other in a couple of years, so that was one issue. Also, prisoners aren't allowed to hug or touch, so there was no way for them to physically connect. Blade, the younger brother, also suffers from several intellectual and developmental disabilities, so he's not very verbal.
