People always judge Kiel about his choreos, but people don't get that this isn't a competition of hard choreographies, it's about musicality and trying to bring the message of the songs to the choreos, so the choreo depends on the song, it's art, it's not only about complicated techniques, it's about telling a story. For example, Blackpink choreographies are always judged, but they also have the most viewed dance pratice videos, people get obsessed about Blackpink choreos cause they can replicate them and they usually represent the lyrics of the song through movements, so it helps the song becoming more catchy. The dance performance is an important tool to power up the song, but it can not overcome it or overdo it, it's a great tool, but it's not the main thing (which is the song). I know kpop got a lot of attention because of their choreographies, but people has to remember the dance is the main thing in the dancing field, not in the singers field, and I think kpopers always forget that.
AAAAAND besides, songs that are choreographed by one choreographer entirely are taken. ALmost all of the choreos of kpop songs are got from different choreographers or sometimes the company themselves edits and modifies the choreo given.
It makes me laugh sometimes when the song is chill or has slower tempo, ppl complain why the choreo is "boring" or "too simple" like bruh I wouldn't want to listen to a ballad, expecting to cry but gets mad dancing instead lol
I really respect him and his work - lord knows how talented you have to be to come up with this much choreography and be hired by all the top companies. I just don't like the style sometimes (hylt, otg, xoxo all arent my cup of tea - generally whenever he works for yg) or how similar choreographies can end up being between top groups in short spans of time (bp, itzy & aespa all shared parts of choreo in the last year because he choreographed it, i'm pretty sure). But you're very right about the music being the focus of the song, it should be. And some of his choreographies are just top tier, I feel like he really 'gets' Twice and the group dynamic.

I absolutely love I Can't Stop Me's choreography. Twice executes their choreographies so well and while they are generally well-praised, I STILL think they are overlooked when it comes to their synchronicity as well as how they not only match each other's energy, but flow with each other too. I love that they sync well, but they're not robots. Amazing, hard working, gorgeous, and talented group of women.

After Kiel’s commentary about Rose’s on the ground choreo and performance I can now appreciate the solo for its own art. In Kpop we’re so used to hard choreography and hard movements. But now with OTG I see the message of the song and artist clearer. It’s not about proving dancing abilities or proving she’s the best because Rosie is the best. OTG is about exactly that being humble, respectful, and continuing to strive for our own happiness while also helping others.
None of the k pop dance were choreographed because they wanted to proved the group was best. I am sure every idols can dance twice the hardly Choreography they are doing now. And about OTG the intention was crystal clearly, they wanted to focus on her vocals more. As much as Rosé voice is angelic she isn't the best with it comes to breathing control she cracks up a lot. So they kept the Choreography simple so she could focus on the vocal and the fact the name of the song is on the ground. I still hate the choro though...

They once said that groups exist because not all the members can actually sing or have a capabilities to be a soloist. If group members debuted as a soloist, then that means their group is actually capable of being a soloist like BIGBANG, EXO, BLACKPINK, Red Velvet, WINNER, iKON, etc. I swear, not all groups can be a soloist. Most of idols cannot really do it.

As jisoo said, otg's choreography is really difficult, but Rosé performed the dance perfectly every time. She is absolutely professional in everything. I also love that the lyrics of the song and the dance are in harmony.
TWICE's strength is really their number of members, you can make so many fun choreographies when you have many members, so many possible combinations of movements that wouldn't be possible for solos or small groups.

Plus the fact that YG and Lee Jung understanding what the choreography needs to make a good collaboration without discounting their artists’ input. Rosé's OTG choreography is so underrated. Look at the chorus part! It was visually appealing to watch. The shapes the dancers were executing was so dynamic.

Man if only Kiel knew just HOW iconic those position changes and movements really are. It really stands out when watching covers of dances you realise just how much more texture there is when a solo dancer doesn't have to do those changes and it feels like somethings missing. Hats off to the choreographer and the artists!
I'm not a dancer but I LOVE learning about how these choreographer's plan and create for their artists! I find it so fascinating and Kiel explained things so eloquently and interesting. I didn't notice the different challenges in choreographing for groups (twice 9) and (blackpink 4) and how much that affects the dance being created. Now that I think about it four is an odd number in the formation and I laughed a little at the "shifted diamond" reference haha. 😂I think choreographers are amazing because they consider SO much when planning a dance to a song. They have to listen to the song, the beat, the melody, the lyrics, how best to highlight the song with movements the artists dance along to. They think about formations, and highlighting certain people or solos. Props to them really!

Sad Kiel Tutin is used as a springboard for hate when kpop stans see something odd about a choreography of their idols then they see his name in the credits so all the blame just naturally goes to him. It's so funny one time how many stans are ranting about a particular move and hating on him, and it turned out he wasn't even the one who choreographed the part, give this man a break 🤣 he made so many iconic choreographies and you can't deny that. Watching this Kiel really knows alot about the artists he works with, so everytime you think of hating on him, think about how this is his job and is a professional working with professionals.

Simply i like rosé choreography. It was fun to be done when you are on the bed and the hand movement is simple to follow. Im glad kiel explained why she goes with the floor choreo fitting the title itself.

Kiel was misunderstood most of the time but no one can deny how good he is with his choreo. Esp when you see the orig choreo he submitted without edit, his choreos are all fire. Thank you for this vid, it's enlightening.

Whether it's writing lyrics, produce the music, choreography, etc. They can't just throwing everyone for credits. Yang Hyunsuk crated the ending pose for AIIYL, does that mean he got the credits for choreography? Nope. He did that on a whim and created the ending pose. Taeyang has been assisting GD in his studio while making his music, giving idea about them, but you don't see his name on the credits. Why? Because he's not officially producing the music. A very clear example, GD "assemble" lyrics for their song for Infinity Challenge (2013). You can watch that show to see how involved GD was and how he's the one making decisions during recording. But the credit for lyrics goes to Hyeong Don only, even though it's very clear that GD involved in the making. Just use your common sense, what's the benefits YGE got from not crediting their idols? NONE. YGE is known for their self produced idols. If anything, they'll be the first one to push their idols to produce their own music. Fans are so obsessed with "my idols are multitalenta, self produced idols" for the last couple of years that many companies try so hard to showcase that. There's a contract written, agreed, signed, all those things you need to do to get your name on the credits. It'll all goes to revenue for all of the people involved, you need everyone there agreed and wanted to be part of it. Jennie probably changed just a bit part of it, did that on a whim, while practicing, asked to change things that she prefer, and that's it. She didn't demand anything and doesn't bother with it since it's on a whim. And that's probably what some of her dancers did as well, making suggestions. This happens a lot. I'm a writer, and sometimes I helped my friends who write script for local TV programs on a whim when we met up and see each other works. I don't see that as a work, I didn't get credit nor do I want em.

Amazing to see how choreo was made... it really depend on the song of course but wow. The little movements really do make a difference. TWICE's strength is really their number of members, you can make so many fun choreographies when you have many members, so many possible combinations of movements that wouldn't be possible for solos or small groups.

SOLO's choreo is truly iconic just like Jennie. So elegant and sexy. Also Somi is such a good dancer.
Lisa said in american interview that she had a say in her choreo and now learning that Jennie too took part in it makes me a proud OT4.
@9:32 is a gem of a comment for Somi (and her winning the best performance at the GDA is highlighted) by the choreographer Tutin. Plus the fact that YG and Lee Jung understanding what the choreography needs to make a good collaboration without discounting their artists’ input.

Man if only Kiel knew just HOW iconic those position changes and movements really are. It really stands out when watching covers of dances you realise just how much more texture there is when a solo dancer doesn't have to do those changes and it feels like somethings missing. I'm not a dancer but I LOVE learning about how these choreographer's plan and create for their artists! I find it so fascinating and Kiel explained things so eloquently and interesting. I didn't notice the different challenges in choreographing for groups (twice 9) and (blackpink 4) and how much that affects the dance being created. Now that I think about it four is an odd number in the formation and I laughed a little at the "shifted diamond" reference haha. 😂I think choreographers are amazing because they consider SO much when planning a dance to a song. They have to listen to the song, the beat, the melody, the lyrics, how best to highlight the song with movements the artists dance along to. They think about formations, and highlighting certain people or solos. Props to them really!

Sad Kiel Tutin is used as a springboard for hate when kpop stans see something odd about a choreography of their idols then they see his name in the credits so all the blame just naturally goes to him. It's so funny one time how many stans are ranting about a particular move and hating on him, and it turned out he wasn't even the one who choreographed the part, give this man a break 🤣 he made so many iconic choreographies and you can't deny that. Watching this Kiel really knows alot about the artists he works with, so everytime you think of hating on him, think about how this is his job and is a professional working with professionals.

There are rules, official rules, about giving credits. It all depends on agreement and how much someone contributed to that.
Whether it's writing lyrics, produce the music, choreography, etc.
They can't just throwing everyone for credits.
Yang Hyunsuk crated the ending pose for AIIYL, does that mean he got the credits for choreography? Nope. He did that on a whim and created the ending pose.
Taeyang has been assisting GD in his studio while making his music, giving idea about them, but you don't see his name on the credits.
Why? Because he's not officially producing the music.
A very clear example, GD "assemble" lyrics for their song for Infinity Challenge (2013). You can watch that show to see how involved GD was and how he's the one making decisions during recording. But the credit for lyrics goes to Hyeong Don only, even though it's very clear that GD involved in the making.
Just use your common sense, what's the benefits YGE got from not crediting their idols? NONE.
YGE is known for their self produced idols. If anything, they'll be the first one to push their idols to produce their own music.
Fans are so obsessed with "my idols are multitalenta, self produced idols" for the last couple of years that many companies try so hard to showcase that.
There's a contract written, agreed, signed, all those things you need to do to get your name on the credits. It'll all goes to revenue for all of the people involved, you need everyone there agreed and wanted to be part of it.
Jennie probably changed just a bit part of it, did that on a whim, while practicing, asked to change things that she prefer, and that's it. She didn't demand anything and doesn't bother with it since it's on a whim. And that's probably what some of her dancers did as well, making suggestions. This happens a lot.
I'm a writer, and sometimes I helped my friends who write script for local TV programs on a whim when we met up and see each other works. I don't see that as a work, I didn't get credit nor do I want em.

In that company women are restricted they don’t let them have creative freedom to their music and once they do the company does everything they can to hide that, everything we know about bp participating in their music is when they tell us and yg has tried to erase that too twice when Jennie said that she helped writing Stay in a video they changed the subtitles of her saying that and when she said that she worked a lot on her solo too, it took yg more than a year to credit Lisa in Love to hate me and took yg months to inscribe Jisoo and Jennie as official lyricist for Lovesick girls (they tried to erase their names from the credits in music shows) and Rosé for On the ground and Gone, and this only happen to the women in the company because men have the freedom of producing and write all they want and be released but once bp produce or write the company does everything they can to include men in their work and erase their names

Much respect to all the dancers and choreographers which make this songs truly works of art..

Amazing to see how choreo was made... it really depend on the song of course but wow. The little movements really do make a difference.
