This is our first official year homeschooling, my son would be in kindergarten this year. I never intended to homeschool, I worked in the school system for years. But as my son got closer and closer to preschool age homeschool was placed on my heart. I just felt like kids are being rushed through their childhood and I wanted to savor this precious time. Once we made the decision to homeschool, I keep finding more and more things that just confirm that homeschooling is the best decision for our family.
We are doing our second year of homeschooling, our girls were in private school but due to pandemic I just wanted my babies home and just spend time with them. I was not into the idea when my kids first started but now we see how our girls have become way more confident ,sociable and enjoy learning. As a family unit we are closer and we enjoy the time we get to grow together. We are completely in now on homeschooling and my girls have enjoyed being a big part in their education they love it.
Another home run 🙌 the itchy armpit…lol! Our reason for homeschooling is first; I truly enjoy being around my son, it’s a privilege to stay home with him, I don’t take that for granted. The second reason; see first reason. We just take it day by day and hope that along the way, we’re not screaming him up 🤷♀️
I have 3 girls: 11, 13, and 15. I was interested in homeschooling when they were little, but didn't due to lack of understanding and fear of opinions... After distance learning, my youngest, who is VERY devoted to ballet, asked if she could homeschool. We're in our 2nd year. I love that we have extra time to really devote to God's involvement in creation, history, science, literature... I feel it will give her a solid foundation as she will likely move away from her faith community one day to pursue ballet. My other 2 are still in public school and we actually have amazing conversations about choices and how our faith helps guide us and protect us through them. They see first hand the different outcomes of those whose family make God a priority and those that don't, or unbelieving families. So, like you said, definitely pros and cons both ways, even in the spiritual growth sense.
What program do you do with your boys? I’m fixing to transition levi into homeschool due to the choices in Shreveport we have. I’m struggling to figure out the differences.

We are pretty eclectic and piece our curriculum together. I would recommend trying a boxed curriculum that provides all the subjects you need 😉
