We are busy mommas but thankfully the FlyLady already has us doing the majority of the spring cleaning tasks with our zone cleaning. Full transparency, I sometimes don't get zone cleaning every day...but it NEVER gets as bad as it used to! ⭐Announcement: I will be hosting a Menu Planning Workshop on April 1st for anyone who needs to get things set up to make menu planning easier EVERY month. I am super excited and in need of sitting down and doing this, so let's do this together! Sign up here: witty-knitter-223.ck.page/6d35fe3652 Thank you for spending time with me today. I sincerely appreciate how busy you are and I hope to just encourage and motivate you to do a little every day. How can I help you more???
I failed with FlyLady... and now I am back! I've tried some other systems but in the end none of them worked for me. My routines helped me all the time and I will now jump in and do the zonecleaning again. What a good idea to keep my control journal that time I thought "never again I will do that!" In fact I was overwhelmed to clean 15 minutes a day and at the end of the week there were still things to do! Now I realized - I don't have to do the whole zonecleaning list!!! Things can wait until next time - that took so much time for me to find out😁
It took me so long to learn I don’t have to do it all! At best, now I do 75-80% of my routines, 30% of the daily focus, and 25-50% of the zone cleaning…which is 10000% more than I did before and my house looks amazing for me.
You are wonderful! I loved this video. Thank you for the gentle reminders of making a decision like the candle example. I have a habit of starting a project and then get distracted with something else that doesn’t need to be done and then I spend so much time on that one non-important thing that wasted so much time. Then I end up feeling overwhelmed that my cleaning has taken all day and nothing to show for it .
I agree that spring cleaning is not necessarily the same thing. we have monthly, seasonal and other. And honestly? By the time you get through your monthly cleaning in a zone. Do you really have anymore 15 minute zone cleaning sessi9ns left for the week where you can get to the seasonal or other cleaning? Nope. And THAT was the biggest mental obstacle that kept me from trying Flylady for so long. I alread6 spend way more time and energy on dailies than I'd like, no matterhowI do them, and they have to get done to keep things fromm piling up. Then, with home blessing and zone cleaning sessions, i am NOT spending extra time and energy on cleaning. So, I set it up so that each zone cleaning session gets a different level of deep cleaning. And, my zone 5 is my Flex Zone where I can hit extra deep cleaning if I want to, or play catch-up. Finding a way to hit all the levels within the framework that Fly lady routines set helps me to get all the levels done, imperfectly, every month, and feel good about my home and keep my sanity.
@TodaywithTerriK I have like, 13 areas inside, including 3 full bathrooms and the master closet, and a very large yard. The outside is in full boot camp and willl be for a while. Right now, it's one big zone until I have the home overall under control enough to set up an entirely separate Flylady routine for the outside. Right now it's 1 zone. Also, I do the zones in kind of reverse order because those are the areas that get less daily or weekly attention, and I'm always more on top of my zone cleaning routines in the first 2-3 weeks of my rotation, and so that's when I'll be more likely to get to those areas. Like, my kitchen, the 2 small bathrooms, living room, etc, are attended to at some level every day so they can afford to get missed at the and of the rotation if I slack off for any reason. And, I'm on a 5 week rotation. So that there is never a week that I have to split into 2 zones. Each zone gets a full week. So my zone cleaning schedule looks like this: Zone 1: outside Zone 2: Master Closet, Master Bathroom, Master bedroom Zone 3: 1st guest bedroom, guest 1st guest bathroom, large pantry, laundry area, living room, extra room Zone 4: kitchen; 2nd guest Bathroom, office, hallway Zone 5: Flex zone Pick 4 things I want to work on for each zone 5 week, no matter what zone they are in, and work on 1 of those things on each zone cleaning day. Carry Grace has a flex zone and that's where I got that idea from.

Pretty flowers! 🌸 Thanks for pointing out spring cleaning isn’t a big deal when I’m already zone cleaning.
Absolutely!! No need to feel overwhelmed at all.

I truly need to sit down and restructure my Zone cleaning to include a flex zone.
